The original release date for Cyberpunk 2077 was November 19, which was during Trans Awareness Week and right before Transgender Day of Remembrance (November 20). To raise awareness of the numerous concerns of transphobia surrounding the game and the company, we made a commitment to lock the OT for the day after its official release.

While the game was ultimately delayed to December 10, we are upholding that commitment today. As a result, this thread will be locked for 24 hours starting at midnight on the 11th. Please do not create any new Cyberpunk threads during this time, nor attempt to turn an existing Cyberpunk thread into a temporary OT, out of respect for your fellow transgender, non-binary, and genderfluid members.

Funny thing is, bugs is about the only thing all their criticism has played to form on. That ad, even if you argue it is Transphobic, is the beginning and end of it. They bitch about how the story doesn't look at the dystopian future when it goes rife into it (avoid spoilers, but when you hear one character ranting about the excesses of Colonial Capitalism and a lengthy [and really good] side quest about a sex worker getting abducted and abused... yeah, it takes a look at it).

In the end, all their bitching about juvenile writing and shit, yeah that's about what it amounted to, shit. Because the plot and quests are way better than that TLOU2 crap.

Doubly pointless and performative as the CDPR Eating Crackers sticky thread is just some members more equal than others talking about the game anyway.

Well I'm at work right now so I can't verify what's currently on the main page of Motherless, but the last time I went there were 3-4 videos of people shitting under one of the categories.  It's the wild west.

As I said, I'm only one voice.

I'm not trans, but I'm non-binary, and this game and the issue surrounding it affect me.

If you are not trans, or another minority or group directly affected by this game, please stop calling for all discussion to be banned.

If the trans community collectively decide that is best, I'll accept it. However, there are more of us who are also affected would like to dicuss the issues surrounding this game somewhere that at least as a degree of comfort and safety.

My personal opinion, as someone who is affected by the issues this game presents, is that this game is not only huge in terms of hype, but the problematic aspects and effects on the industry are too big to ignore.

From the reviews we have seen, this game is potentially something that could accelerate and emboldened a lot of ignorance and hate, and discussion of this and sharing of articles that combat it and highlight just how harmful it is are very important to share.

I think banning all discussion wouldn't be as effective as steering it in the right direction. Remove all standard hype threads, ban all smaller threads purely discussion gameplay, etc.. but allow discussion if the problematic parts.

Should there be an OT? I think this should be decided upon via communication between trans Era themselves.

Again, if it is decided that the trans community cannot tolerate any discussion for their own safety and health, that is the direction we should take and I'll back it 100%.

I have to be honest, I think the game is actually pretty fun. I've not played a lot, but I am enjoying it from a mechanical perspective.

I've never fully appreciate G-Sync before as I've always had my FPS locked. Playing Cyberpunk with 50-60 (literally can't get higher, low, medium, high... makes no difference) and it's almost not noticeable when I turn the FPS counter off.

Really is a god tier upgrade.

You're right that we should avoid talking about gameplay as much as we can, but this part is not okay, actually. Trans, non-binary, and other gender fluid people are playing the game and don't need to be shamed for it. This is actually stipulated in the OP and the staff post.

Honestly, I don't think many people would have a problem if Hasan still played the game while openly acknowledging its problematic aspects. The irony is not lost on me that people tried their damn hardest to ignore all of the transphobia/ ableism issues and were even making obvious mocking and troll attempts because they knew we had a problem with its representation, but now that it has awful performance issues, is nigh-unplayable on some consoles, and drummed up hype through marketing that wasn't entirely truthful, it's now a moral obligation to make those issues well known because we can't let CDPR get away with it.

I almost feel bad that gamers chose this game to make their stand on. Almost.
