New theory on wsb that the hedge funds have been printing counterfeit shares which is why the brokers are setting buy limits.

We hold boys

This seems completely deranged to me? WSB exposed hedgefund frauding shares? really? WTF even is the stock market

The desperation on WSB is palpable right now.

Not that I really think it’s a significant indicator but it’s sad to see, for real. It’s one thing to see controlthenarrative “Guh”. It’s a different feeling to see thousands quietly panicking.

As long as deep fucking value holds were good.

You mean buying Gamestop stock at $400 a pop to own the libs hedgies is a bad idea and the inevitable crash will cause people to lose a ton of money? No way!

I mean of course it is. That’s why I’m only one share deep. I do think the movement is important, if govt won’t keep an eye on the hedgies maybe the public can. I also just sympathize with lots of people losing money they probably can’t afford to, no matter how dumb they may have been in the moment.

I have to admit they have good points though

why go to all this effort to ladder attack a stock to force it to go down unless you NEED it to go down as fast as possible?  the trading volume is low, nobody is selling

why the fuck would all the news sites suddenly say reddit is now targeting silver, out of thin air?  it takes one second of checking to see that they're not, if anything they were targeting amc and bb and nok, barely any mentions of silver

The neighbor puts a For Sale sign on his Camaro. Imagine you and a couple buddies wanted to buy it. He says he wants $6,000. Your buddy says to you loudly, “How about $4K and I just sell you mine?” You say sure! (But you don’t actually buy). Next day, you approach your other buddy and say loud enough for the neighbor to hear, “Aww man, Camaros are shit.. can you take this off my hands for $3K?” He grudgingly agrees, but no cars change hands. Two days later you approach your neighbor and say, “$6K.. man, that’s crazy. One just sold for $3K. How about $2500?” He heard the other sales numbers and thinks, “maybe this isn’t worth what I thought it was.” And boom! You convinced that dumb neighbor his tendies were stale.

Sure, I’m not discounting that some nefarious shit is going down and the low-volume crash is extremely sus. That’s the main reason I didn’t sell my share and wipe my hands of this whole thing. I’m more referencing the tone shift from “TOO THE MOON” to “You think it’s gonna happen guys? it’s gotta happen, right?” I think there has been a perspective shift and I think it’s scaring people who over extended. As much as they won’t admit it, as time shaves retail people off one at a time, it is going to be more difficult to carry this to any kind of squeeze. I also think these hedge funds can fight back longer than WSB is willing to give them credit for. I also think more people are getting bored than they are willing to admit.

GME going to $750 plus would be a lot more painful than paying interest for another week and fighting dirty. Or maybe it wouldn’t, I don’t really know, I would just think so.

I don't think a giga squeeze will happen at this point, no

if it gets to 350-400 a ton of people will cut their losses and get out, driving the price back down, making it hover in that range at best

Bought 36 shares of AMC for $500 at opening yesterday. Anxiously checked my phone all day, seeing how I was slowly but surely losing money. Decided to cut my losses and lose $40 rather than the whole $500 when the stock crashes.

I figure even if that shit made me money, short term investing is terrible for my mental health and well-being. It also doesn't help that billionaires have the money and capital to steer the entire market to their favor with 80 different flavors of manipulation.

I've sold my BB that wasn't going anywhere and it lost traction among the memes.

GME is a definite HOLD if you still have it.
Still a lot going on there which makes it the most likely candidate to pull off the short squeeze.

I’m all out. Lost a couple hundred on all this. But hey, I actually learned a lot. This wasn’t my first foray into short term trading but it was probably the most expensive.

Good luck to those of you that are stronger than myself. I actually feel bad I can’t stay on the train but losing another $1000 just isn’t an option for me right now. Back to the boomer S&P I guess.

This is true, I'd add that there was a lot of momentum from everyday sources of misery that made this a very hyped event.

Pandemic that adds a dreary mononity to life
Pandemic that's also affected income
The narrative of this fucking over billionaires
How easy it is to buy stock nowadays

I've known a little bit of stock trading from random sources, but there was some endorphin chasing thing in my brain that felt the urge to fuck around, justify trying to play the game.

I thought AMC was gonna have a similar but not as substantial spike based on hype apes. Installed cash app, did very basic verification, and was able to buy stock very quickly and very easily. You just need to link a debit card and....if you're not careful, you can invest an entire bank account in seconds.

Drug overdoses and suicide rates have skyrocketed with this pandemic. The idea of gambling money from your phone, very easily, hits a part of the brain that stimulates really risky decision making.

Thought experiment: if WSB had put all their effort and money towards buying lottery tickets, what are the odds they would have been overall more successful?

I suppose pre-tax, a billion dollars spread across their 8.3 mil members (assuming all participated) would only equal $120.48 per person (assuming 1 lottery ticket per person), but that's likely better than the massive losses everyone is seemingly experiencing right now.
