Twitter people were hyping up Ed Skrein, including some writers and directors, saying they have his back for doing what Scarlett Johansson and others didn’t. This was in 2017. The promised support went about as well as you can expect. His biggest role since will be in, you guessed it, a Zack Snyder movie.

If any of the Usual Cuntspects on era had bothered to actually fucking watch the Ghost In The Shell film, the fact that ScarJos own mother doesn't recognise her anymore after the extensive cosmetic and reconstructive surgery to transform her from an asian woman into ScarJo hits extra hard.

Still shows that the movie completely misses the point. In the original, her body is designed to look like a common, off-the-shelf model, same face and all. The Major looks exactly like a ton of other cyborgs, which makes sense given her line of work. That alone is a good enough excuse to cast any attractive, popular actress regardless of ethnicity, even though I think ScarJo looks a bit too distinct. And the Major is not sure she even has parents, or if she's entirely artificial like the Puppet Master, so showing her mother is stupid because it answers a question the manga deliberately leaves unanswered.

I've seen the videos exploring the incestuous nature of gaming awards shows, people on the committees deciding these things being closely personally associated with those receiving the awards and recognition etc., no call to action to harass these people just pointing it all out for those interested to see the evidence for themselves

you can say "well if no harassment was involved then it wasn't gamergate" but discussion of these things was still buried under the guise of calling it that, because the parties involved obviously would've wanted the stories discredited and ignored

I didn't see any of this at the time because I didn't look into it closely and mostly bought into the broad narrative, then I stumbled across some 8 year-old-videos and watched them and thought "what the fuck THIS is the horrible boogeyman??"

Somehow they gained access to my friends list on facebook, they mentioned 3 people, 2 of which I remember, from said list, not sure how they managed that tbh. I wrote one of them as it's a close friend to give an heads up xD

I'm not sure how else to proceed, they even tried sending me a messenger message after I laughed it off on Telegram and blocked them, but I blocked them there too and reported it. They seem to have deleted me off of Instagram too, unless my connected facebook and blockage made that happen somehow.

I changed my google and facebook passwords, not sure what else to do. Laugh if you want, my heart is racing from the whole thing, but it is rather funny XD

The worst part is the thread is filled with people who have also fallen for the scam. Why is everyone on there a deviant?

There was a big campaign actually about ethics in games journalism beforehand. I remember Rab Florence's Eurogamer column that cost him his job, because I worked in the games press at the time (with someone who Florence named until one of them threatened to sue and the article got edited), and people were shitting themselves because everything he said about close relationships with PRs, boozy "awards" shows, free international trips, supervised review events in hotel suites, etc was absolutely endemic. That was what led to major gaming sites publishing ethics policies and announcing that they'd no longer accept freebies, etc. And that was 2012. Somehow that got subsumed into the Zoe Quinn shit.

But, the few articles I do read insist on using these ridiculous streamer handles to name the people throughout the article. Today, I read this article which insisted on using the name "MoistCr1tikal" repeatedly.

I get that is how people know this person. The first sentence proves they know the person's name. So, fine, use the handle in the headline to get people's attention, then say, "John Doe, known as xxXBacon420Xxx on Twitch, spoke out today to...." That's what they but instead of then referring to Doe or Mr. Doe, they continue to use the streamer handle. It's obnoxious.

This is similar to the ridiculousness that is news broadcasters reading tweets on the news and saying things like, "According to FootGuyCreamy, there's a lost dog on the corner of Main and First."

I like how they banned this guy for accurately pointing out that women are not minorities then somehow made it "white male fragility" even though whites are a minority and white males even more so. There's no "punching up" here until you specify the population you're talking about.

Also, and this is a more personal point so apologies in advance, but GG had nothing to do with ethics in journalism. Not once. Never did. It relied on a handful of disaffected stragglers who believed to have finally found something they truly believed in and wanted to defend, and used them as mouthpieces to pad the numbers while they planned harassment campaigns on KF and KotakuInAction and did SWATing and literal bomb threats. I myself was almost taken on by that shit. I lost like real friends to this stuff, to that pipeline. We'll never talk again.

Please don't even dare minimize the harm it did to people which that movement brainwashed and isolated, by pretending it was about GiantBomb or any of that guff. And even if it was, nothing that could have potentially happened justifies that was done after.
