Out of curiousity, what is stopping you from signing up several of the many people who are ready, willing, and capable to help with modding duties?

If there is something I'm missing then please fill me in but like....I, and many others, would like to help lighten the load.

I thought they mentioned before that little/no moderation decisions are done individually, so "hiring" more people may not necessarily make a difference if it's still being held up by waiting on input from certain mods.

Even if that is the case then it’s a bottleneck that should/will eventually need to be addressed.

God forbid anything ever happened to any of the mods, however if life really got in the way for some of them, what contingencies are in place to deal with that?

The subject of new mods comes up (and is acted on) multiple times a year. Several new mods have been brought on within the last few months. Now, I won't say that the number of mods around at any given time has never been an issue, but that wasn't what I was speaking to here.

We're still in the Holiday/New Year period. This is a hectic time for most people. And, well, mods are people. So what often needs to be considered is not the number of mods, but the reality that we're all a bunch of people with numerous personal obligations, spread across timezones/countries, and we still prefer to handle most decisions as a collective. Modding is a collaborative effort, and the issues that arise from that aren't always solved by adding more of us to coral. That's really it.

And also -- and this isn't to single you out because I wasn't upset by your question and you were polite about it -- something to keep in mind is that a big part of the reason you don't see more mods actively participate in this thread is because we've noticed that even casual comments we make often get held up as emblematic of policy, when in reality I really meant nothing more by that line than, "Hey y'all, shit's busy rn." I think a casual back-and-forth is something a lot of people want to see in this thread, but sometimes that requires people taking what we say at face value.
