I don't want to say it's something the left does more than the right, but so much of this feels like it's swept up in the same kind of identity discussion, and to what extent self-identity matters, or if labels can be imposed upon you

B: do they call themselves nazis, or wear armbands or use the insignia?
A: no, but they're acting like nazis so they've earned the title
B: oh word? it's valid to sort people any way we like based on what we perceive they're acting like? if a dude's "acting like a woman" I can call him a woman?
A: not if he self-identifies as a man and prefers to be referred to as male
B: oh so now we have to respect the labels others choose to adopt?
