I wrote about my upstairs neighbor before. For the past 8 months now he's been not just stomping but purposely slamming down on the floor with his full body weight. It's incredibly loud, the walls shake, you can here the plaster falling on the ceiling, the windows rattle. It's unnerving. It feels for a moment like the building Is collapsing.

At first he says he was doing it in retaliation for the noise HIS upstairs neighbors were making. Except that thise neighbors have been trying to be as quite as possible ever since he first did this. We've become friends over our shared experience with asshile neighbor.

They bought carpeting and wear thick socks, they tip toe around their own apartment so that this huge idiot doesn't have his tantrum, especially because they know we have the worst of it.

Both of us have been keeping track of when he does it. This is at random times, multiple times per day and nearly every day.

We immediately text each other to see if it was triggered by something we just did. But 99% of the time it wasn't anything either of us did.

We're watching a movie at low volume and people are just talking and he bounced off the ceiling. We're reading a book my son and I, and he's slamming the floor like he's wrestling the hulk. We're sleeping. We're not even home. I'm working quietly on my computer and am the only person home. Or neighbors reported him doing it times when NEITHER of us have been home!

On a rare occasion It's a response to some annavoidable accident. Like my son dropped a toy, or I dropped a pan, or I was closing the top of the window and lost my balance so I came down roughly. But these are rare events which do not warrant his immediate response of making it sound like the building is toppling on top of us.

This is having an effect on our mental and physical health. My anxiety is through the roof. I had to ask my doctor for a larger dose of my anxiety medication which increases the possibility of side effects. My wife's resting heart beat went from low 60s to low 80s in the span of two months. She's Allways on edge. Almost is brought to tears if my son so much as skips in the apartment. I've caught my 8 yo dropping a paper back book that barely made any sound and just staring at the ceiling terrified.

We can't live like this. We're always on our last nerves. Snapping at one another for the littlest things and it's because of this sack of shit upstairs.

It's like Chinese water torture. You don't know when it's going to happen next and you live in Constsnt anxiety over it.

This morning he did it again snd scared my little boy and I lost it and for the first time in 8 months retaliated by pounding on the ceiling like a fucking animal. When he starting jumping again I yelled out, I'm going to kick your ass if you don't stop.

I just completely lost it.

Now I know, I need to move. And we will as soon we can, but given the state of rents and home prices, realistically were talking 6 months to a year.

Is there anything I can do in the meantime? We've tried talking to the landlord, not just me but every neighbor around this guy, but he says he can't kick him out. He's spoken to him as well, telling him he can't act this way, but the behavior has not stopped.

I don't know what to do.

Lot of posters suggesting to call cops but Ree constantly screech ACAB.
