The thing is, not only is VC da ill game, it's also the first game I've played on PS3 that makes me feel like it's a PS2 again. Most of the other PS3 'smash hits' feel like XBox Lite


Also to continue your thought on Sony dudes being horrible judges of FPS games - I was playing Resistance 2 competitive multi last night, and FUCK does everyone suck. It's the second time my friend and I had played it since November and we buttfucked every single team. We're decent at Halo and Gears but we were beating everyone in our R2 matches by wide margins, it was a joke. I hope Killzone 2 has a higher class of player.

The avatar thing isn't really a Sony fan thing.  Mario Galaxy, Halo, GTA4, Mega Man 9, etc. all had the avatar editing thing.  Even movies or political events did too.

It also comes off as a bit shortsighted to discourage every game the SDF get behind (or similar annoying fans of the other two) just because they did rally behind it.  They do it for good (LBP) or bad (Resistance 2), sometimes ignoring great games completely (Motorstorm 2).  While I haven't played Killzone 2 before, the only thing that leads me to believe it's a bad game is the developers last FPS game, other than that it looks like it could be cool.  They're sure to also latch onto Infamous when that is closer to release and Killzone 2 is passe by then (unless KZ2 sells a boatload and becomes the white knight sales title for the PS3, which won't happen, but hopefully I can be proven wrong)

That is true, but I still don't think it is a trait only Sony fans have.  It's more that they're in such a bad position that they're forced to act petty to make up for it, or something.  One example of when 360 fans acted in a similar way was when there was that bogus rumor of Mirror's Edge being PS3 timed exclusive, so they went on about how they actually hated the game all along and never wanted it.  Then again, at this same time PS3 fans started liking Mirror's Edge more.  It's a mess no matter which console warrior you really want to look at.  It bugs me when it's coming from any side.  I mean, as someone who is genuinely very excited for MadWorld on the Wii, it is a bit annoying to know that some people are only looking forward to it since it is on the Wii.

Outside of Halo 3, the only non PS3 exclusive game that saw this crazy thing going on with avatars was GTAIV.

On the SDF camp, we had MGS4 (was crazy big), Little Big Planet, same shit, now we have Killzone 2, same shit. Now the difference between these last 3 and the GTAIV and the Halo 3 cases, are that they are forced.

With that i mean, the avatar crazyness with Halo 3 and GTAIV began inside media threads, naturally, due to trailers, etc. MGS4? Out of nowhere someone created a thread for it, i even remember "that's not how you do it" responses. LBP same shit, and now KZ2.

Yeah, there is matchmaking. Not sure how great it was at matching people of similar rank given that it was a beta and everyone was about the same rank, but I got into games fast without having to worry about any significant selection process. It also has server browsing of top tier PC game quality. The MP was pretty crazy good, sans beta issues.

I'm a big fan, but i know it's not some amazing achievement as a game. I mean, you have like 2 or 3 hours worth of really GREAT gameplay, then it basically turns into a movie, with not so interesting pieces of gameplay thrown in every once in a while.

The other day i read somewhere, gaf i think, about this dude saying how REs5 cut scenes were cheesy(based on a shot of a coath flying or something), and MGS4 cut scenes were like this hollywood thing. What's up with these guys? Do these guys only see what they want to see? What about how horrible the pacing of the cut scenes is? What about the horrible melodrama they have sometimes, how about how freaking cheesy most of the cut scenes are, i mean the whole proposal bit that is ripped straight out of Mr and Ms Smith, is cringe worthy. The biggest fundamental difference, I think, between PS3 fans and 360 fans is that many/most 360 owners had a PS2 last gen, while many/most PS3 fans have been Sony-only for over a decade now. They are not accustomed to seeing the biggest and best games on anything other than their own console, or having to defend their own console in any way, because their past consoles were shit hot inarguable awesome.

one thing i'd say about the Xfags, we aren't forgiving of our own games. We haven't hedged our bets on one single game so if something is shit, or something isn't right - it gets called on it. It's night and day, we don't feel the need to defend the hive. You'll notice a lot of Xfags also give props to Ps3 games that deserve it. True story.

Ah, but what if something isn't shit, but has plenty of rough edges, does that stop people from referring to it as "OMG it's so beautiful," or argue that the whole is greater than it's parts? And do you seriously think this forgiving attitude will transfer to games exclusive to the other console? Anyone can agree on shit, the real test is being able to give games on all platforms equally fair hearings, and benevolent judgment. If I don't like the type of games that were on the system, or the shittiness of the system limiting the quality of potentially tolerable games, it's not going to be a favored system. Every time you express your disbelief regarding this mindset, it adds to the credibility of any argument that calls into question your ability to empathize with any viewpoint other than your own. I have no problem conceding that if you like for example JRPGs, it's probably a hot system.

And as for Xfags being the better sort, how many comments have been spilled about KZ2 to date, with understandable original doubt being replaced by nitpicking about every damned thing about the game? Do you seriously expect me to believe that these people will approach that game with as much of a benevolent mindset or as much of an interest in overlooking flaws as they would had it been a Microsoft game? Let alone admit that the game might actually do many things better than favored games on the favored console?
