For the longest time, I looked at woman and girls based on the way I thought about my sisters and mother. To me they were beautiful people who I had to protect and were gentle sweet people at their cores. I had a very strong belief that they were waiting to be swept off their feet, that all any woman was looking for was a prince to protect them.While this had faded somewhat by the time I started working at the strip club, it was still in essence what I believed about woman.And then I started spending most of my day with woman whose only goal was to pretend to be something they aren't in order to make a buck. At first, I could keep a clear distinction between the woman at the club, and the woman I (rarely, due to my schedule) met outside the club.But those lines began to blur the longer I worked there. As I became friends with some of the dancers, I saw them treat me like a real friend, and yet still use their strip club conditioning to manipulate me on occasion. Perhaps because I was almost conditioned to expect that behavior from woman at this point, I started seeing it in every female that I came across. And whether it's because it's true, or because I am looking for it and therefore creating it, I have found every woman I have been with since that club to be...well...cruel? I suppose that's the word to use. Some far more than others. From waitresses to hippies to grad school students. It seems like I unlocked some kind of xray vision that sees through the bullshit that I used to be completely blind to.There was a point in my life after I quit the club, where I looked at every woman who wasn't immediate family, and thought of them as cruel and untrustworthy. I have spent the last year trying to balance that and come to a much healthier state of mind.
