Anyway, the Pitchfork fuss is silly on both sides. I mostly follow their (and NME's, and Stereogum's) reviews because they're so prolific, and sometimes it's more efficient than slogging through a plethora of esoteric music blogs and forums. I can recognize and ignore their histrionic hipster bullshit, so I don't really mind the occasional over-hyped turd (like that new Girls album. 9.1

i used to have to rely on pitchfork/metacritic/cokemachineglow to get my music info, but working for the station we get dozens of cds every week so I just pick and choose what looks/sounds good to me. much more interesting, although some of my favorites this year have turned out to be critical darlings too (A Twilight Sad, The Xx, Oh No Ono

I don't even get my music from Pitchfork, jewco. A coupla years ago I got into Arcade Fire and, gasp, Wilco, and have used Last.fm's recommended artists thing to discover new music. That and Hypemachine, and now Spotify, all tied up with recommendations from my friends. To sooner you care about Pitchfork as much as I do - aka very little, and you're showing you care more about them than you let on - the sooner you'll stop busting my nads for no good reason.

And Bitte Orca is far from my AOTY, but it was worthy of my list at the very least.

I watched that entire 'interview' a few days ago. I commend Dawkins for his patience. Her mind is so closed there's no reasoning with her. It's futile.

Dawkins usually avoids the question/argument of who killed more. He basically is of the opinion that the religious way of thinking and discovering reality is dangerous, accepting propositions on no no grounds, relying on authority and ancient texts. While scientists can be wrong, the scientific method has an inherent corrective mechanism and change built into it to settle differences, it's proven to work.

In atheism, evil people still do evil things, but only faith can make good people do evil things. With that said, you don't have to be religious to use religious methods or abuse religious mentality/religiosity in people to commit atrocities, as history has demonstrated.

An alternate way to say it is that people WITH faith do good things BECAUSE of their faith. Athiests do good things because that is just what they did.

Man, I wish my pinky was that flexible. My hand is fucked up in that I can barely move my pinky without having my ring finger move with it, so it's really annoying to try and play guitar that way.

Luckily, my ring finger can stretch pretty far to make up for that.

hell yeah Beatles Rock Band made me notice the bass in Hey Bulldog a lot more. Still don't care too much for Don't Let Me Down, and actually, that song was really annoying in Beatles Rock Band since I was forced to play it three times and it nearly put me to sleep in the mode where you need to play the whole set. Now I have someone to blame.

I don't dislike it, but that entire last tier is made up of slow, long songs. Having to play them all at once is tiring. I'm just saying that the game didn't really me change my opinion of it.

That last tier is seriously just packed with slower songs. Even the faster songs in that set are relatively slow compared to other songs. The entire end part of I Want You mixed felt like it went on forever when needing to actually play it in the game.
