The problem is, formal or not, Kranz didn't go through the proper channels to make the official thread. There's a lot of paying tribute (ie: sucking dick) to be named the one to make the official thread. They're not just randomly selected. I recalled White Man saying that they were posting some of the official thread Killzone 2 images on the GAF mod forum before they got posted on Gaming Discussion. There is a lot of knobs to get slobbed before you can just arrogantly throw out an official thread. To make that point known, you'll have dozens of crybabies rush out to point out that your official thread is not acceptable. Heck, I don't doubt a lot of them PM mods and the keeper of the official threads, BruceLeeRoy, about the travesty being committed. Also with the designer of the numerous graphics who probably would feel cheated knowing their 2-3 weeks of work was all for naught.
In short: too many egos will prevent such a thread going, no matter how legitimate.
Also, GAF is not meant to be taken seriously. Well, for us anyway. The forum is essentially a support group. Fanboys have their various enclaves to camp out at and poking the camps with a stick is like poking at a hornet's nest. System warriors fight bravely using anecdotal references, estimations, and are controlled by the wise sages who are typically the ones that catalog sales data. A smaller group are the forum anarchists, that like the Joker, sometimes just wants to see everything burn. These are often the contrarians and thread usurpers like omg rite who latch onto threads, drain it of its potential, and turn it into a needless controversial thread. They essentially run into a thread, shit it up, and then bail. Then you have the veterans that usually ridicule the newbies and talk about the good old days. They are usually ignored because they lack the hyperbole and need to prove themselves that many others depend on.
