That Ubi thread is a hilarious display of cognitive dissonance.  When the Wii first came out, Nintendo fans were championing it as a haven for experimental low budget games.  Now that the Wii is the sales king, Nintendo fans want expensive AAA games on the system.

Did you watch the trailer? This game looks FAR more like Super Mario Galaxy than Super Mario Galaxy looks like anything from Ratchet and Clank. Even the HUD looks almost exactly the same!

Not that it makes much of a difference to me, I'm not going to throw a party or anything if Nintendo sues this company.

If they want to go after MW2 or any shooter, they would be better off comparing A.I. (well, enemy behavior). KZ2 looks good, but that's not it's strongest quality, the enemy behavior and the way it affects gameplay is.

Hell, I'd even say that the visual quality worked against it some times. It did the hostile battlefield thing so well that it was hard to want to spend time in the game world. MW1 and 2 felt like that when fighting through yellow urban territories, but those areas were offset by the mountain regions, and it wasn't all dark and depressing all the time like in KZ2. The only natural environment in KZ2 was a fucking desert with nasty maneating spiders.

There are lots of reasons to like or dislike any shooter. But let's be honest. That's not what those Killzone 2 threads are about. They are another front in the never ending system wars.

I think the problem with all the "grey art direction" in KZ2 wasn't the actual game's problem, it was the fact that KZ1 wasn't as popular as it could have been. Anyone who played, and paid attention to the story in KZ1 knew that Helghan was going to be a GREY MESS, and this was in 2004, before the influx of all the "brown" for no apparent reason "next gen" shooters. It was an integral part of the the consistency to the universe, it was just unfortunate that alot of the audience didn't know that. No one questioned MGS4 for being "brown" and "grey", when most of it was, because people knew Snake was going to the Middle East, so why question KZ2 for being grey, other than the fact that you didn't know that.

It's a Spike Lee movie so of course there are great shots throughout it, but that's really the only positive here. The editing is bad to the point of making certain plot parts incomprehensible, the cast is basically a rollout of every generic "war flick character" ever created, there's some horrible acting, oh and it has one of the most ridiculous endings I've ever seen.

Plus remember the fat guy in 8 Mile? Well he plays a pretty laughable magical negro here. Even more laughable when you consider some of Spike Lee's comments on the magical negroes in film.
