I highly, highly recommend downloading Asphalt 9.
Fantastic game.
And zero need to spend a penny.
I've been playing 30 minutes or so every day.
Note that the first hour or so is odd, because its like a tutorial. All the races and weirdly short (like 20 seconds!?) but once you get past that, you get the full game with regular race lengths which is great. So don't let that deter you - Ive seen a few reviews online where people say "I deleted once I saw how short the races were"
There are some mobile mechanics intended to get you to spend money....but uh, they dont do a good job. That is, I havent found a single instance where spending money would help in any way. They are extremely generous with the unlocks. At this point, after a week, I have gotten enough free coins and tokens that according to the shop, would cost $50 if I bought them. So...dont buy them.
They also removed the ads (which I believe are in the mobile version), and added an offline single player mode (time trials) and an offline split screen multiplayer mode.
The game is also 6 "versions" behind the mobile one. That means you cant do cross-play or cross-save, BUT there are a significant amount of "new" cars and tracks they will be able to roll out because theyre already on mobile.
There are a couple of major bugs right now. One is that it will crash your system if you leave it in sleep mode - so always close the software when youre done (x on home screen). The second is a weird glitch where you lose the ability to steer with the joystick in some races. Hopefully they fix that quickly.
