Biden's not the only one taking a big L.

Putin promised to Macron that the troops would leave Belarus, they didn't
Putin promised Macron he wouldn't invade Ukraine or escalate the situation

He promised a lot of other things too. The sun king said diplomacy was headed in the right direction and an invasion had been called off but he looks utterly ridiculous now.

US on the run

Macron mad, he will roll out the sanctions. (but if the US doesn't, the Germans might get cold feet too)

Nothing from Zelensky yet, probably expected a bigger response from the US so he's in a pickle.
Also all this has been launched by Putin assuming Kyiv indeed got rid of all their nuclear weapons.

Anyhow we can safely say that the US strategy (make the Russian plans public, so they wouldn't happen) hasn't exactly how to put it, worked.
And the EU go to strategy (i.e. kick the can down the road by blocking Ukraine from joining NATO) hasn't worked either.

Not just that, but why-the-hell have only one backup generator, and have it within the effect area of a tidal wave. Sure, the waves were big, but not unprecedented. If Fukushima had another backup on a nearby hill, the whole story would have gone differently.

Fingers crossed for a new draft. Send the youngsters to fight in Ukraine!

After their glorious victory, they will be able to return home to student debt, rent at 60% of their take home, 10% """transitory"""" inflation, wages still below 2008 in real terms, politicians in the pockets of the billionaires and over 60s, having to fix climate change, having to pay and care for an aging population, stock market & $GME still rigged, ban on crypto (probably), avocados, tinder, and tiktok.

Who wouldn't fight for that? No need to ask, just draft.

Edit: boomers/landlords/1% WILL NOT be drafted or have to pay for the way under any circumstance!! Drafting the rich or having a war tax is communism!!!!

Putin recognizes the entire Donbass as independent including the port city Mariupol currently not under rebel control.

Putin's ultimatum to Kyiv summarized:
1. To recognise the will of people in Sevastopol and Crimea
2. UA should not join NATO. UA authorities themselves must refuse to join
3. To solve the problem of #Donbass through negotiations, but it is no longer relevant
4. Demilitarisation of UA

So Russia invaded but didnt really invade?

Just like in Civilization when I amass troops on the border, declare war, and then it takes me 5 turns to actually reach the city because it's all hill terrain

All preperations are complete and Russia is set to invade within 48 hours according to the latest news.

Ukraine is trying to persuade NATO to cover their air space from Poland and the Baltics, as that would dramatically reduce the risk of the Russians moving beyond the Dnieper.

The Russians have evacuated their embassy in Kyiv.

I wonder what it feels like to produce absolute theatre like this?
From what I've seen and what some foreign correspondents have also noted is that this propaganda campaign lacks the enthusiasm of the earlier ones.
You see an RT reporter pry out a shell with a stick and 'freedom celebrations' with 10 people and some fireworks. The whole thing is sloppy, including the meta data and documents signed on the wrong dates.
It's like the folks carrying out the orders don't give a shit and do the bare minimum.

Even taking into account the fact that this is mostly for domestic consumption (remember, lots of Russians can't read English so the Russian news is all they ever get) the quality is piss poor.
Which also begs the question of how much effort the Russian military will actually put into this invasion. Because they know that moving on Kharkiv and Kyiv will not be a surprise attack like taking the Crimea or conquering some remote Georgian villages.
Ukraine put up a decent fight last time with just their hastily recruited militia's (which is why the area the rebels control is quite small) even after Russia took out most of their air force.
This time Ukraine has turned on their air defenses and they can see the Russian columns clog up the roads on Google Maps. I don't see anything but a very difficult battle ahead if they decide to attack Ukrainian armed forces directly and push for the big cities.

There is clearly some dissent in Russia too if the farce with Putin/intelligence guy was anything to go by.

Never discount the fury of Russian mothers being greeted by their sons coming home in body bags.

Russia just closed the air space on the Ukrainian border.
https://twitter.com/L0gg0l/status/1496627325609328641

Quote from: Zelensky's speech
Today I initiated a phone call with the president of the Russian Federation.
The result was silence, though the silence should be in the Donbas.
As a result I want to address all citizens of Russia.

We are separated by more than 2000 km of mutual borders, along which 200,000 of your soldiers and 1,000 armored vehicles are standing.
Your leadership has approved their step forward onto the territory of another country. This step could become the beginning of a big war.
The cause could come up at any moment, any provocation, any spark, a spark that could burn everything down.
You are told that this flame will liberate the people of Ukraine, but the Ukrainian people are free.

You are told we hate Russian culture. How can one hate a culture?
Neighbors always enrich each other culturally, however, that doesn’t make them a single whole, it doesn’t dissolve us into you. We are different, but that is not a reason to be enemies.
Listen to the voice of reason. The people of Ukraine want peace, the authorities in Ukraine want peace, they want it and are doing everything they can for it.
We don’t need war.

But if we are attacked, if someone attempts to take away our land, our freedom, our lives, the lives of our children, we will defend ourselves.
We won’t attack, but defend ourselves. By attacking, you will see our faces, not our backs, but our faces.

War will remove guarantees from everyone. No one will have security guarantees any more.
Who will suffer most of all from this? People. Who wants this the least? People.
Who can not allow this to happen? People. There are these people among you, I’m sure of it.

I know this speech of mine won’t be shown on Russian TV, but the people of Russia need to see it.
They need to know the truth. The truth is that this must be stopped before it is too late, and if the leadership of the Russia does not want to sit down at a table for peace with us, then maybe it will sit down at a table with you.
Do Russians want war? I would very much like to answer this question. But the answer depends only on you — the citizens of the Russian Federation.

War means pain, mud, blood and the death of thousands — tens of thousands of deaths. You are told that Ukraine is a threat to Russia.
It was not in the past, it is not now, and it won’t be in the future.

Media in Ukraine reports Russia to attack Ukraine 4 AM Kyiv time, which is in 2 hours or so.  :fbm

First SPG artillery and aerial bombings to soften Ukraine's defences, then ground attacks plus amphibious landings to follow in the coming hours.

At least stop peddling the bullshit "Russia has been left no chance to protect itself by other means" Putin.
