people enjoy bitching about things that suck. it's a bizarre human trait that people have to always come up with elevated justification for, like all these long form tear down video essays are always couched in some kind of "i'm doing this because i love the series and i'm saying what needs to be said" as if they aren't just enjoying bitching about it.
maybe it's an built defence mechanism so when things we enjoy take a shit we can still get a buzz out of it, like some kind of consumer prostate.
personally i think it's sucked for a few seasons now and it's only because it's sucking in a way that doesn't play quite so well to the upvote and reaction gif crowd that it's in trouble. my main issue is that D&D are clearly phoning it in at this point and while they're collecting their massive wedge, if even 10% of the people working round the clock knocking up props or sweating over renders phoned it in to the same degree that they are, it wouldn't be able to even exist.
it's like watching a company full of brilliant minds being run into the ground because the CEO is off shopping for nipple clamps with his 13 year old thai boyfriend.
