I'd bet cash money that people in Mexico are more thrilled than anything else that a Mario game is going to have a really Mexican themed level.
Believe it or not, people who aren't from Amerieurope actually would probably LOVE it when they see their culture or country featured, even if it's only very shallow and surface level. Lord knows that's been my experience. I used to be more like the average Gaffer, in that sense. Very westernized worldview and other people outside of that bubble may as well have been cardboard standins for real human beings. Which is exactly how GAF collectively seems to view a lot of people for whom they defend from "cultural appropriation".
I would bet cash money that the shut-ins on GAF have never actually traveled anywhere outside of the US. And if they have, it's probably only been to friggin' resort type areas anyway where they don't end up meeting people. They're just locked into their little bubble where they think that communicating with a person online is the same as meeting people in person, I suppose. That must be why they consider themselves so wise and worldly, even though they're anything but.
