Official FUCK OFF thread
A DLC season pass for Saints Row: The Third has been confirmed.
According to a post on the THQ Insider blog, which has since mysteriously been taken down, the voucher gives you access to four expansions, representing a saving of 15 per cent on buying each pack separately.
The four add-ons are as follows:
Nyte Blayde Pack - Includes the Nyte Blayde Mobile, altar boy outfit, Bloody Canoness outfit and Bloody Canoness bike.
Genkibowl VII (available January 2012): "The Wide World of Genki takes over Steelport for a sporting tradition totally and utterly unlike any other."
Gangstas in Space (available Winter 2012): "The Saints go intergalactic in this science-fiction misadventure."
The Trouble With Clones (available Spring 2012): "Copy-cat killing at its finest."
An exact price for the pass is yet to be confirmed but anyone who pre-orders the game via the THQ store gets it thrown in free of charge.
Penis-shaped Saint's Row: The Third weapon The Penetrator has fallen foul of Japanese censors.
THQ has been told to remove the "veins and physics" from the purple dildo, which is used in-game as a melee weapon.
An un-named THQ representative told Game Informer that "stricter guidelines" in Japan were apparently to blame for changes to the three foot phallus.
In-game, the dildo is attached to the handle of a baseball bat. Footage of the device in action lies below.
Game isn't faring too well with the reviewers like I thought it would. Gametrailers references Steelport as Stilwater the entire fucking review. Destructoid gave it a (very) surprising 7.0.

So that brings me to that guilt I feel. It’s nothing to do with the violence, the sweariness, the generally amoral attitude (or maybe it is). It’s the representation of women throughout. Which is confusing. Because, okay, I’m playing as a girl. And that’s not just a box I ticked at the start. It means that my on-screen character is clearly female, but more-so, is treated by the world as female. There are a few exceptions – some narration during a wrestling incident doesn’t recognise the player gender, for instance – but mostly the dialogue is written and recorded to recognise your sex. There are damn few games that can claim that. Then it’s packed with strong female characters. And girly ones. And dorky ones. And not all of them have their boobs flapping around. Women are as much a part of the gang as men, and play no secondary roles. (And, importantly, for once men are portrayed with variety, again mixing up thugs with geeks, smart and dumb.) Which is good, right?
And, well, then there are the rest of the women in the game. Who invariably are wearing bras, and probably lap dancing or prostituting themselves. You rescue “hos” from shipping containers, in which they huddle uselessly, chirping rubbish about how terrified they are. Characters refer to women as “bitches” throughout. It’s gross. And I think you could get some distance justifying it as parody, or perhaps arguing that it genuinely does seem to be the most affectionate use of “bitches” I’ve ever heard. But, well, it’s still pretty foul, isn’t it?

game is rubbish if you have a ATI card. avoid at all costs. Not working once again.
:piss ATI

How is the prof. genki stuff delivered? Is it just a code pack-in with the manual, as with other "free with new sale DLC" has been, or is it delivered separately, e.g. mail or site registration?
Should I have?
Should I have?
Yes. You have to validate it to play co-op.

Saints ROw 1 is one of my top games of the generation. Saints Row 2 is a aborted mess on the 360. So I bought this one since every preview said it ran great on PC and was more like SR1. It's a kick ass awesome game, but my god is the PC port balls after Volition lied and said it was good.

This probably doesn't apply to you, but apparently KMART copies of the game do not come with the Prof. Genki DLC code.
What the fuck. On xbox live, like 3 out of the 4 co-op partners I've encountered are just the default Boss. I never realized gamers were so BORING.It may be loading the default character if someone has used "no clothes" or tattoos with a series of alphabet characters, just in case they've used them for something intentionally offensive.
I don't know why I post here since all u guys do is make fun of me and push me down like all the white kids used to do at elementary school :>(

The game completely delivers. So goddamn awesome. Played some co-op with Himu and just kind of fucked around for the most part. He kept taking screenshots, and doing this paused my game which was very annoying.

Sorry. When I took one screenshot, it took like 30 seconds to upload. ???
Does the game pause if you go to the map like in SR2? I find the game pauses a lot less often in SR3.
- Though the game uses activities as story missions, which really feel like padding, I actually don't mind this, because a lot of these activities are either new (in the case of Pierce's Guardian Angel mission, which owns) or altered to the point where the old activities feel new, or at least slightly improved or revamped. I enjoy that the activities are brought into the story because it gives them a sense of credence. Whereas in SR1 and 2 you'd be doing insurance fraud because some random jerk off tells you to, in SR3, you are given actual story motivations. I like that. It means more Boss, more dialogue from the characters I like.I believe they stuck the activities into the main mission as an introduction to them for new players or people who never do side stuff. The game opens itself up a bit more after you do all those and more of them are identified on the map.
- The weird thing is, I find that there's less to do so far. I think this is mostly because activities are instanced and not multi-tiered with levels. I'm not sure if the instances are even bad it's just different, and I can't really claim that to be a negative. The funny thing is that despite all of this, I never really think about it when playing the game because I'm having too much fun to give a shit.
Takespoiler (click to show/hide)Phillip's death for instance. I didn't even realize the Boss killed the dude but in a later cutscene Killbane confirms it.[close]
Another example of the story's lack of development is (major spoiler)spoiler (click to show/hide)Johnny's funeral. YOu finish a mission, and then the game transports you to like, a bridge, without any transition whatsoever and then Killbane and his guys do a badass surprise attack. I understood that, but then Shaundi brings up the fact that you were at Johnny's funeral, and I just sat there like "what"[close]
- On the other hand, I'm disappointed with how they're handling the story. I mean, the dialogue and characters are as great as ever, don't get me wrong. But it feels like so much happens off screen and the game acts like you know what's going on. TakeThis makes the game feel impersonal, which is a contrast to Saints Row 2 where you implant nuclear waste on your foes' tattoo needles, or stash their girlfriend in their car and trick them into running over her at their own monster truck rally. The Boss in Saints Row 2 is a bonafied badass who confronts any and all odds and takes them down, one by one. That's still present, but it feels tame in contrast. Hopefully it gets more SR2-like down the road because one of the best things about SR2 is that the "villains" are just as interesting as the main characters, in their own unique way. I think I'm gonna take it in the shorts and buy the Season Pass. Hopefully it includes all the BS like locked weapons and stuff. Kind of a shame that you can buy a game for full price and still not have all the day 1 content.
I'd like to emphasize that despite every thing I've said I still like SR3 more than 2. :P
Just a few things here and there (namely lack of mission replays) and it'd be golden because ultimately, this is the funnest sandbox game I've ever played. It's just FUN.

You only got it if you preordered.
I get that you really like the game, so I feel it's only fair to help shed some light on something you likely won't hear anywhere else (unless you go bugging V-Singular on the official forums)
IMO, in terms of the raw resources required to get a game built and out the door, (and Kakesu can chime in if he feels otherwise) SRTT most closely parallels SR1. It's a new engine with all the stuff that comes with wrestling with new technology in a single game cycle. SR2 used the exact same engine and more than less built off the version of Stilwater from SR1.
That in super boiled down terms means that the city of SR2 had about 6 years of development in it.
Without going into too much detail, our cinematics manpower on SRTT was much less than it was on SR2 or SR1. I could go into numbers and I would probably be wrong, but my gut estimate is that we had anywhere from 50-75% fewer cinematics artists on SRTT.
I'm going to leave it as an exercise to the reader to compare exact headcounts between SR2 and SR3, but it's safe to say we did more with less. Because we had to.
gamed for a second just now with himumu, but now it's dinner time. opening missions are fucking amazing & already better than other HOLLYWOOD GAMING shit, and i cant wait to get back to it so i can poke around and find all the awesome optional content. i havent even finished making my character! this is gonna be goty, no doubt. i think im gonna skip class tomorrow so i can game all afternoon. oh also, i got an old wireless xbox headset from a friend, but i cant get it to work. is there something special i need to do with it or is it just busted? ok enough add rambling, i gotta eat so i can get back to steelport
Is there some sort of trick to the insurance fraud activity? Not sure I fully understand that one.

Probably busted, no? I misread it as "wired" when clicking Reply. The wired ones are notorious for breaking when you look at them funny. The wireless ones probably have a pairing mechanism to get it to work with your xbox or controller or something.

I played SR1 but skipped 2 (yeah, I know). I'm sure that's part of my over-the-top LURVE for this game. I just never thought a sandbox game could be, uh, FUN. Rockstar needs to swallow a big mouthful of shotgun as penance for their boring games of stupid badness.

Game is pretty awesome so far. I agree with whichever reviewer said that this is the game that the people who freak out over GTA always thought GTA was- pretty much the id of an insane 13 year old boy turned into a game, which is an awesome thing. If anyone else has the game on steam and wants to coop let me know.
I barely remember Pierce in SR2. He's awesome in this one, I actually pulled over when they were singing What I Got to hear the whole thing.

beat itspoiler (click to show/hide)omg best use of "holding out for a hero" ever, it plays through the entire mission which literally makes it the greatest mission in any game ever[close]spoiler (click to show/hide)lol mars[close]
I think it is shorter than 2, but then again I did blow through this far faster than I did 2 so maybe they are the same length.
They do let you replay the last mission from the start btw, so you can pick the other option. (Hope that's not a spoiler?)
Gonna be hard to top this one, waiting on Batman still.
anything involving waves of enemies can fuck right off
Here's a neat trick:
Place a vehicle that normally can't be customized in your garage. Jack a customizable vehicle and drive it into a rimjobs. From the rimjobs menu, choose your garage. Highlight the non-customizable vehicle and press B (or whatever button is "back" on your respective system), then choose accept.
Result? You're now customizing a non-customizable vehicle. Change the color on whatever you want! Some of them even have body mods available.
Unfortunately I don't think this will work with airborne vehicles.

Do they ever explain what "feel boss" means? The Boss asks Shaundi when they first get to the city, and I saw a hobo holding a sign that says it (I also saw someone holding up a sign that says "Shaundi Is A Whore"), but then it never comes up again.
Finally catching up with this thread, and I wanted to respond to this because I love the story.
When we got the final version of the cutscene that takes place after landing in Steelport, we noticed that the group that had done the cutscene had added a sign saying "Feel Boss $5". Nobody here had any idea what it meant, but it seemed appropriate, so we just...ran with it. We added some lines about it, and I think there's at least one commercial that references it.
We still have no clue what it means, or why it was put on that sign.
One awesome thing from last night's play session- Prof. Genki was running around and kicking people in the junk for no apparent reason right after I got into Steelport.

I can help ya out. I've beaten it on hard.
Yeah that's a good point. Had no problems with any of the other activities on hard, even the Genki one (which was awesome).
I'm starting to become quite disappointed with the city, and not just the size of it. Stillwater in SR2 had so many unique and recognisable areas, this just feels like one big urban area with some skyscrapers, an industrial zone and an airport. It's even more evident when you start to fly around.
i miss the trailer park!
I think they could probably make a Prof. Genki S.E.R.C. XBLA/steam game and I would buy it. Just make a shit ton of different levels, enemies etc.
Robo and I wasted Steelport for about an hour. :lol
why cant this game have a competant fucking developer or they learnt how to develop for pc. ffs. this game is a piece of shit.
shame because the content is amazing.
I wasn't paying any attention at all to the instructions when that mission with the tiger started. You were probably thinking I was completely distinguished mentally-challenged. I would have. :lol

Guess you should have bought it on a console since you don't know how to run PC games properly!
Right, because the millions of people with ATI 6xxx cards who are having severe problems because of the incompetant fucking developers are "fucktards".At least go with a more believable figure like "thousands" or something.
its pretty much the exact problem SR2 had, the better your PC the worse the performance
I'll fucking pay for that.
Also, for those doing activity missions before you do their attached story mission, you are missing out on story. If you do say, Professor Genki's SERC before Pierce gives the mission out, you skip the Pierce mission. :(

ive been doing all activities with only the occasional story mission so i dont blow my wad all at once but i guess im missing out dammit. im loving this game, but i cant get 100% behind it because all i keep thinking is how sr2 did so much of the same stuff and actually did a lot of things better. the map was way better, there were more side missions, more hidden areas. the game's still amazing but it feels like been there done that.

Yup. I'll load up a game and won't even get to a mission because I'm cruising around looking for gang warfare stuff instead.
Green Man Gaming is selling this for about 42 bucks. I have a GTS 250 and a fuckload of RAM with an i7 920. Do you think my system could handle it?You should be fine.

Also, for those doing activity missions before you do their attached story mission, you are missing out on story. If you do say, Professor Genki's SERC before Pierce gives the mission out, you skip the Pierce mission. :(
what the FUCK volition
ive been doing all activities with only the occasional story mission so i dont blow my wad all at once but i guess im missing out dammit. im loving this game, but i cant get 100% behind it because all i keep thinking is how sr2 did so much of the same stuff and actually did a lot of things better. the map was way better, there were more side missions, more hidden areas. the game's still amazing but it feels like been there done that.
SR3 is more fun.

No, he's right
apparently the game bomba-ed which is good because developers shouldn't be supported for shitty PC portsWhere is the ignore button? I've had enough of this filth and Ondore's lies
Shnuff, does the GMG key work on Steam? I only have the PS3 version for another week - I want to get the PC version for co-op and 100%-ing
I'm having so much more fun with the activities in this game now that I'm a bit overpowered. Painfully forcing my way through some of the activities like "Protect the Dealer" and "Rescue" on Hard with Level 1 weaponry and no Health or Damage upgrades was clearly not their intention. :lol :duh
I still kinda hate Insurance Fraud, but getting through them isn't too bad now that I know about the dive trick.
Himu how are you getting those pictures? When I log in and go to my screenshots they're just thumbnails.

go to your profile, then go to the map, click my screenshots, and then you'll see a bunch of screen shots taken, click, and then it'll pop up. right click, copy image, go to paint, paste, and save.

My one gripe is that you keep getting phonecalls to help defend something or take over an area, but you're so woefully underpowered that you can't last more than 2/3 waves.
Also that teleporting bitch from the Ninja gang annoys me to no end.

my only mission design gripe is the later chop shop missions are literally IMPOSSIBLE without using Police Forgiveness. And you can't hop out of the vehicle and enter a shop you own, then re-enter the vehicle, as the wanted level comes right back..
Try driving a garbage truck halfway across the map with tanks and jets on your ass. Yeah.
finished the campaign, OMG, best OWG campaign ever, hands down.
SR3 > SR2
Saints 2 has a better city but thats it.
I heard that the Russian female boss has a crush on Pierce. :lolThat's what I went with to start, and it's a bit more than a crush.

SR3 > SR2
Saints 2 has a better city but thats it.That said, SR3's campaign is better in that the mission design is killer.spoiler (click to show/hide)Disagree. SR2 has better story and villains. Each gang arc is great and long, and has weight. SR3's gangs go out way too fast, and no one really feels like a threat. It feels like their blew they load too early, especially in the case of Loren. Especially compared to SR2. Shaundi has been reduced from weed smoking stoner who has EVERYONE as an ex who steals Pierce's ideas to...an angry bitch with zero personality. Oleg and Kinzie are the only good new Saints. Angel and ZImos are boring and underused and add nothing to the gang. Killing off Johnny Gat is silly, even IF Daniel Dae Kim is busy. Johnny Gat is the ORIGINAL OG buddy from Saints Row 1. Killing him off with such little fan fare is distinguished mentally-challenged. The choices added to the storyline are stupid, and add nothing to the game. I am playing Saints fucking Row. If I want toGet "choice" out of my sandbox games and leave that vapid shit to rpgs. Sandbox games are about getting my cake and rubbing it all over my hairy chest, not depriving me of content.spoiler (click to show/hide)unmask my foe AND get apocofists, I should. Likewise, saving Shaundi/Viola OR going after Killbane? That's dumb. The Boss would have handled BOTH.[close][close]
The bad part of SR3's story is that just a few tweaks here and there, and maybe a few more missions and cutscenes and it'd be perfect. I think that Daniel Dae Kim not having enough time for the story really made them have to go back and rearrange the script.
What they did to Shaundi is the worst thing though. I fucking hate Shaundi in SR3. What happened?
and it's like 2 seconds into the game
Beat the game - both endings - my Steelport at 73%. Gonna stop for now and pick it up again on the PC later. Which femboss is the best - I assume the Russkie?
Go Into the Light Completed all instances of Guardian Angel.
Yeah, you have to let the enemy cars get some distance before you rocket them or you wind up damaging the person you're protecting.
couple of quick questions tho. 1- if i upgrade a car in my garage, will all other versions in the world also have these upgrades, or will only MY car have them?
2- what's in the nite blade dlc? if its just some clothes, a bike, and a 15% discount on future dlc then thats an awful deal

Finally decided to beat the game after I realized I won't be able to do some of the phone activities with the restricted area still on. How am I supposed to jump a raised bridge with a street sweeper?
Anyway, I never got that weird squid weapon. Where is that thing?
Argh. So how am I supposed to jump the raised bridge with a street sweeper? I even nitrous'd that bitch and it wasn't even close.
I guess there's a way to drive around? I'll have to look at the map again next time I play.
finally was bothered to grind out all 26 survival missions and get my 1000/1000. Woohoo. Now back to Dark Souls
I played through as British Guy, will do Russian Mafia Queen next
The game isn't very good at balancing the difficulty. "Hard" doesn't really mean hard, it means it's nearly fucking impossible at the beginning, and stupidly easy near the end. They throw a lot of stuff at you right away that you probably shouldn't be tackling until you get a good chunk of cash and start beefing up your character, but that's not immediately obvious. They don't fuck around with the upgrades in this game; you always get more out of them than what you pay for. It breaks the game in the end.
Level 4 SMG (dual wield, natch) is the best way to beat survival missions. Shooting everybody and setting them on fire is just super efficient.

Biggest problem with that is that it also sets your homies on fire. Sucks when you have to babysit them through some tight corridors.

except the game doesnt force you to upgrade, and it clearly explains what each upgrade does. if youre fine with how tough it is, dont upgrade; if its too hard or some certain thing keeps killing you, upgrade! works perfectly
I am TOTALLY okay with SR3 allowing me to break it like I am suplexing a tiny baby. if you are not go play Dodonpachi
also i wish there was a powerup that would let you turn yourself into a missle as you sped toward the ground in freefall

Oh FFS. I haven't even gone into a Friendly Fire, I just kept upgrading my SMG's and assumed that was it.
when you first get to Steelport, you go to Friendly Fire and are made to upgrade a pistol as one of the mission objectives...
its not like the game hides it!

Yeah. Except when you and I did that mission in co-op, you were jabbering and I didn't even know it was an upgrade task. I just bought ammo and left. If I'd left it there, I'd be in the same boat as Sho Nuff.

sorry :'(
Here are those stats in English that we shared yesterday from approximately the first two weeks of data.
- More than 2 million people have been bludgeoned to death by the Penetrator so far.
- 5.8 BILLION citizens of Steelport have met their demise while roaming around town. That's 19 times the population of the US, or 85% of the population of the world.
- Players have spent a cumulative 2 years in their birthday suits streaking the streets of Steelport and making old ladies scream.
- In Whored Mode, 44 million pimps, gimps, and prostitutes have been dispatched (Note: This does not include mascots, or question mark assassins).
- 650 hot dog mascots have been overcooked to death by players using flamethrowers.
Just got both endings.spoiler (click to show/hide)I guess it's the "bad" ending where you let Shaundi die or whatever, but I liked it better. Taking down a flying fortress and then claiming the city? Fuck yeah![close]
edit: and the music is great
the only thing i ever listened in saints row 2 was the easy listening radio and occasionaly the classic one, what does this have in that regard?
I'm liking the pop, gen-x, and techno stations. The classical one is okay, but the metal one is mostly too screamy for me.
Also, I'd say the writing in the DJ portions is not NEARLY as entertaining as the main story writing. The writing for radio stuff in GTA is consistently great. I'd say it's the best writing in GTA IV.
And due to some typing errors, I'm now wondering if Johnny Gat was a play on "Johnny GTA"...

The Mix was the best station in Sr2 anyways
sorry, but if anything vice city proved, 80's makes sandbox games 1000x better.Yep.
I know you guys aren't knocking ace reporter Jane Valderama (who sounds suspiciously like Asian Reporter Trisha Takanawa or whatever from Family Guy) cause that bitch is funny.
He said the radio in IV had the best writing in the game, not that IV's radio had the best writing in the series.
GTA radio hasn't been great since Vice City. VCPR bitches.
VCPR bitches.LET'S PRESS THE ISSUE is the best radio thing in any game ever. I always tuned to that and sometimes just drove around to keep listening to the debate. And quoted stuff from that for ages. Pastor Richards is truly one of the great minds of the latter 20th century.
Unfortunately, Mission Replay will not be available in Saints Row: The Third, through either a patch or DLC. There were a few reasons this was removed after SR2, due in part to the new game engine, some game-breaking glitches/exploits that had been available to SR2 players, and other reasons related to specific development concerns. We also hoped players would want to play through the entire game multiple times to either try out the multiple branching stroylines / choices, or to experience the entire game in another fashion be it through a different voice, character, or upgrade options.Apparently there is a mod for the PC version that is halfway there already and coming.
While I know the following solution is not ideal, if you wish to replay a certain mission, you can create individual manual saves files before any major mission along the way. Yes, you're not actually replaying it with any new items you've acquired after the specific mission in question, but the potential for bringing in some of those late-game items into earlier missions presents many potential and unknown issues.
As a final point, because of your feedback here, even though it is off the table for SR:TT, the development teams moving forward are aware and this feature will be considered for any future Volition title. Please note that this is not a guarantee of it being placed into any future Volition title, but it will be discussed and evaluated by the team at large.
We all hope that you can continue to enjoy Saints Row: The Third, even without this feature.
some game-breaking glitches/exploits that had been available to SR2 players,
I think I just changed my mind over the course of writing that sentence. The only thing SR2 does better are cutscenes (they are rife), and layered clothing -- though that clothing is less attractive by far than the offerings available in SR3.
Isn't there a "Hostile Takeover" option for $40K where it just auto-completes the map for you? Or did I misunderstand the description?
I thought escort was pretty easy. The photo vans literally pop out of nowhere if you're going fast enough, but otherwise you just find a straight route across the map and weave through traffic until you need to do something else. Most of the stuff you're asked to do is fairly simple: ram some cars, jump some shit, run some dude down, etc. That's the only activity I have left to do on that island. They're fucking insane. I hate insurance fraud though and there's a hard one where I can only get half of the cash within the time limit. Pretty sure that I'll end up using hostile takeover on whatever hood that's in.
I had to use the takeover to finish the Hard rescue mission on the Decker island. That gang is just way too chaotic with maxed noteriety.
I just hate that the best way now is to flop around on stationary cars. Doesn't feel like real insurance fraud to me.
It can, actually. You limp dive into one car and flip yourself onto all the others sitting around. You do get more points for getting run down, it's just they put the adrenaline bonus spots at intersections; the traffic stops at the red lights and gets all jammed up.
And either I have the worst luck, or the game doesn't like to spawn cars in the lanes you're anticipating traffic from.

Thanks to Lyte Edge and Sceneman for the co-op last night. I've got about 2 hours logged in the game, and 1.5 hours of that is in co-op! :lol
What a great game. It feels more challenging than SR2 -- at least, I don't think I died much in SR2 at all, and here I've been swarmed by the territory defense survival missions. I've survived only 1 of the 4 I've tried...

Hey, Lyte Edge, can you pop into my world again next time you see me on, and order up a car?
Apparently, in co-op, when you ordered a car in my world before I'd unlocked it, it breaks something.
Right now, I've got no way to make Homie: Vehicle Delivery show up, because he's not even in my phone, though I bought him ages ago. I've got the other delivery guys, but not the basic one. :'(
Edit: Actually, reading further, it appears that ANYONE joining my game and using Vehicle Delivery will restore that Homie to my phone. Which makes a lot more sense, actually.

I wish you could steal a car from parachuting.
you're not playing saints row right if you don't base jump off the penthouse rather than taking a car out of your garage
That's why I want to steal cars from parachuting. Would be sick as hell.
I also want the SR series to steal the magnet from Mercs 2 so I can pick up a car and take it to the tallest building and try to race down that bitch.

But this is some of the most unsatisfying combat I've played in a non-shareware game and at the end of the day the game is about shooting people unfortunately.
For clarification, I've only done like 3 missions so far. The last mission I did was parachuting into the high rise, shooting up 3 waves of enemies, bringing my crew up from the elevator, shooting 2 more waves of enemies, then chase a guy in a helicopter flight for 3 mins, get out and run up and grab him and then shoot a room full of guys.
For instance with that mission:
Parachuting in part - liked
Music playing - liked
Shooting a bunch of guys around the pool and inside the house - zzzz
Going downstairs and shooting more guys - zzz
Shooting another 2 waves of guys - zzzz
Flying helicopter - cool for 10 seconds until I realized there was no challenge besides HOLD UP then it was holding up for 3 mins zzz
Running after a guy and grabbing him and then shooting more guys - zzz
Guess I need to get the "fun" weapons. I really dislike the gun combat and find it immensely dull.
All you do is shoot?
I mix between shooting and riding my vagina into dudes faces with the awesome button.
Oh, and taking hostages and throwing them 500 feet.
Watching that video shows my main problem with the combat. The physics. EVERYTHING is floaty. Shoot a guy and he flips around like he's on the moon. Drop a grenade and things float instead of fall. It's like playing GTA with a moon physics mod (though not as exaggerated). Game has bizarro physics.

The controls when you are holding a hostage are so terrible I never want to grab any of them.
- complains about no cover system
- you can duck behind objects
- and blindfire while ducking
- while your health refills
- "that's not a cover system because I didn't get an icon telling me I was entering cover"
I thought I just shoot into the object I'm standing behind if I fire while being behind an object.
Bebpo is getting senile is his old age.
Another pc gaming casualty.
I think possibly one of the reasons why I don't enjoy the combat is the controller sensitivity sucks and feels slow like wading through mud instead of fast paced john woo
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/954853-/61254712
http://www.gamespot.com/saints-row-the-third/forum/controller-sensitivity-too-low-61030830
I dunno if this is just a "using a X360 controller on the PC version" or a X360 controller on any version issue, but it might be what's killing the combat for me. When I tried using a kb/m it felt a lot more fluid in combat but the driving was such a pain in the ass I went back to the X360 controller.
Maybe the PC sensitivity is different to console?
well maybe you should play the game more than 3 missions before running your mouth off!
Ok, just played an hour and half straight and got a lot further. Forget all the stuff I said, this game is a fun sandbox timewaster.

That makes sense. The cutscenes are good (and they look really nice on PC with 4x AA maxed; have a CG look to them because of the cartoon style), but there's definitely some jank to them and the story doesn't necessarily flow as well as it should.
Anyone know if they patched this game for AMD users? I keep wanting to buy it off Steam but all those people reporting problems with framerates with AMD cards have kind of put me off.

Hey, how do you do the poses/taunts?D-pad left/right on console.
The best thing about SR2 was that you could switch your melee moveset, so after you beat the pro wrestlers you got a shitload of wrestling moves you could randomly do on people

these hos ain't hos!
SR2 has the best cutscenes in the series
Every SR has the game open from the get go
other hidden activities include base jumping, car surfing, streaking, and flashing.
you can't be burned out on SR. I have played 100+ hours of SR2. 50+ hours of SR3. How did I do this? co-op. Co-op makes it never boring.Oh, man. SR2 is so good in co-op. Activities are so fun.

There are also the Territory Takeover or whatever those PINK FIST missions are. You have to find those.
I played on Normal, so if you're on Hard this may not work: Shoot the cars. Even with the sniper rifle, shoot the cars. They explode, which takes out the nearby creepers. Trying to actually snipe the enemies is too hard.
Upgrading the weapons used in those missions also helps.
Lastly, you can rob stores you already own.
You know, as much as I like these guys and think they get 95% of it right, there's definitely some weak choices here and there. Like the whole point of the Heli Assault activity is have an activity where you get to BLOW SHIT UP WITH A HELICOPTER...because that's fun, right? And everyone likes fun! But then they make it an escort mission and by principal escort missions are not fun, so they kind of mess that up. Helicopter side activities should have been just flying around blowing lots of shit up with explosions or flying through air rings like pilotwings or something. The Tank activities are fun because you just blow lots of shit up in combos and who doesn't like blowing things up & combos?
No one. That's who.
I am in like Flynn.
I pretty much just make my character run around buck nekkid for the whole game.

+1 but with that shark hat
I can't beat the last insurance fraud activity because not only do you need $450,000 which is A LOT but there are STAG everywhere now because I brought them into the story and the second I get hit by a car near them they start SHOOTING AT ME and the worst part is all the cars at the intersection TURN AROUND AND DRIVE AWAY FROM THE STAG PEOPLE SHOOTING so there are no cars anymore for me to ram my head on. WTF. Guess I will need to play the story until the STAG exit the picture so I can do the freaking activity. Ugh, annoying.

Case West & Case Zero :P Sure they're standalone, but they're still basically DLC expansions for DR2.I'd argue that they're either the More Genius Way To Do DLC, or fiendishly clever paid demos.
Will probably do the alternative ending when the next DLC comes out and I get back to the game, but going to take a break for now.

SR1 had that :( and like a good 4 hours worth of classical music to listen to. Unfortunately SR3 takes a few steps forward and a few steps back.
I'm not complaining though, I hate most of the music in SR3
And why can't I adjust the height of my character? For a female my character was a GIANT, especially in heels. But there's no height option in build as far as I could see. I'm guessing they did that to make the clothing fit better? But then they still let you make skinny/fat, so it seems weird.
Was funny and enjoyable if you don't take it seriously though!
yeah sorry, for me it was just the most HOLY SHIT AWESOME part of the game and if I was spoiled it may have lost its impact. I dunno I'm just being pedantic

The writing in Gangstas in Space was so much better. The achievements were super easy, though. I did miss one of the 6 collectables. Thankfully I didn't save over my existing save so I'll go back and get that tonight. I just hate how you don't unlock the laser weapons in the main game.
Can you spoiler-quote the missable thing for me?
Last night I finished the Arkham City "alternate ending" for Catwoman, and I was shitting a brick thinking that I'd overwritten my NG+ progress just by trying something out.
Is Trouble With Clones the last dlc pack? If so, kind of an "eh" way to end things. It's three missions long...you get awesome super powers in the last mission, letting you run a super speed, throw fireballs, and melee produces a 60's Batman-style sound effect and "BAM!!" comic effects...but once the mission is over, that's it.This is the last of the seasons pass DLC. I didn't even realize it came out today. Going to have to download it tomorrow and play.
I thought the Nightblade Pack was also part of the season pass, no?

One of the modders was able to "fix" the gas pump explosions in SRTT so they send your car flying like they did in SR2 #bestbugeverhttps://www.saintsrowmods.com/forum/index.php?threads/sandbox.1076/
All the DLC is on sale this week on Xbox, 280 MSP per pack, 840 MSP for the lot. What I was waiting for. Bought
