The 3rd arc, Suraga Monkey in Bakemonogatari was kinda weak. The main girl was really boring, so ep7/8 about her were a bit zzz with moments of genius. Hope the next arc is better.

Also normally I enjoy the cuts to text during conversations, but constantly doing it during the well animated fight at the end of that arc was a total buzzkill. Instead of seeing great fight animation you see TEXT >_<

Speaking of that, I'm watching the 4th arc, Nadeko Snake in Bakemonogatari and omg, naked loli bondage hahahaaha, this show is soooooo creepy fetish. But the production is soooo good, that it's almost ok to recommend to normal people.

I'm not gonna watch the next arc though after I finish this ep10 since it's still not finished. >_< Don't know what I'll do without my bakemonogatari fix. I need stylish

I have some questions to ask since I'm coming up on a huge anime binge.

What's the difference between the two Fullmetal Alchemist series? Himuro told me the newer one is just like a reboot or something. I'm sure it's shit, but how do I discern the two?

I remember YuYu Hakusho being pretty badass. Is it actually worth checking out or will my nostalgia probably be lost on it?

A series I really love the idea of (but only ever seen a few episodes) is Case Closed/Detective Boy Conan. Is it worth seeking out?

Finally, Lupin III is one of my most favorite anime series, but I really don't know which seasons were best. My local comic store is selling the First Box Set on DVD for like $30 and I've been wanting to get it, but impulse buying anime sounds like a terrible idea to me.

first one is called full metal alchemist, in 4:3 format and does not follow the manga.

new one is called full metal brotherhood, 16:9 hd format and follows the manga, still airing.

Didn't know it was one of the long-running series.

I never read the FMA manga, and to me the 4:3 series was badass, aside from iffy parts in the third quarter and the finale.

It's all in the tone. They certainly didn't replicate these jokes ad nauseum in the original show. Then again I haven't read the manga.

I'm with himuro and duckroll and some people that the original FMA anime >>>>>>>>>>>>> Brotherhood.

That's not to say that FMA #1 >>>>>>>>>>> Manga, but as an anime Brotherhood is kinda zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I can't think of a single GREAT ep in brotherhood, whereas the original FMA anime had a lot of A+++ eps. It also had a lot of filler and some stupid stuff, but man were those A++++ eps fantastic.

I think I also prefer Bones/Mizushima's take on the FMA story because it was darker and more edgy/fucked up than the manga/brotherhood which is just standard fare shounen.

Gundam Unicorn is awesome. It's got me pumped for more UC Gundam, so I'm marathoning Zeta. 17 episodes down so far. If I didn't have to go to freaking work tomorrow, I'd probably just watch the whole thing.

Revolves around death, cute death gods, mysteries, the occult and somehow turn it into a villain of the week shounen formula? Check.

They are so so so similar it's not funny.

I'm not talking about quality, but damn if some plot details from Bleach don't remind me of Yu Yu.

Realtalk: Bakemonogatari is not that great of a show :'(

I've realized what I like about it is:
-Neat original style, good music
-Senjogahara is an awesome character. Very well written. Dialogues between her and Araragi are the high points of the show
-Araragi & Oshino are well written with great seiyuu performances

But then after the 2nd arc, senjogahara basically disappears, the style starts to wear out its welcome, and every ep the show gets more and more creepy fetish and loli.

So yeah, I think some of the eps are good, with ep3 being sooooooo good. But I don't think the show is top20 anime of all time material like I did in the first few eps $:-\$

Okay, the initial setup is similar, but that's where the similarities end. Once they stop with the Hollow attacking humans bullshit and get to the main plot, it's nothing like Yu Yu Hakusho.
