Cumberbatch as Strange is the most uninspired casting news for a superhero flick I've heard in awhile. Maybe ever. It should have been Keanu.

I heard Joaquin Phoenix and Colin Farrell rumored before, and I'd have much preferred them.

I get Cumberbatch from a making bank perspective. Marvel has been good at casting guys girls want to see, and women around find him attractive.

I wanted an excuse to read Doctor Strange comics, guess I'll just do it anyway.

Yeah, I get why they got him  but I would have preferred pretty much everyone else that was rumored.

Same, that sherlock show went to shit and started pandering to fangirls. But I will say I liked him as the voice of smaug.

How many movies has Cumberbatch been in these past 2 years? I've seen him all over the place.

:what

Btw, the answer is 7, which is fewer than Samuel L. Jackson...

Last Sherlock series was awful. It was full on tumblr pandering. Every single episode.

It wasn't as good as the first two seasons, but calling it "bad" is absolutely overstating things. It was still better than probably 95% of the shit on TV these days.

What percentage of the Avengers prospective audience do you think gets the dopey Pinocchio reference?

Going to pretend this is a spin-off of The Blacklist where Red Reddington has uploaded his mind into a robot and that all the Avengers are members on the list.

But Pinocchio's not even a second tier character, couldn't carry his own movie by himself it was all the other characters who made it work. That's why Drew Carey's movie was about Geppetto. (Someone who has further proven himself as a top tier character in Fables.)

Mercy - A Stephen King adaptation which is straight to video.  Normally this would be a huge honking warning sign, but I actually quite liked this.  The original story it's based on is one of King's very good ones about the horrors of childhood, and this film keeps that tone pretty well even as it inflates the story to feature length with the inclusion of some Yellow King stuff.  Once you realize that this is a horror film for kids about kids and the inability to understand the world and obligations of adults, it begins to click into place.  It's a little violent and Mark Duplass flips off two kids right in their faces so I don't know for what age this would be appropriate.  Anyone who is 15 would probably want to watch something a bit more violent, while anyone a bit younger may be too fucked up by the low levels of violence contained within.  Again, once you realize this is a kids film, it all makes sense.

Looks like Inhumans will be in SHIELD

also kind of surprised at no Black Widow/Hawk Eye movie.  Ant-man 2 if there is one will be a long ways off.  Kind of worried that its going to be mediocre and they are already writing it off.

They said they were looking at a Black Widow one earlier this year I thought (edit: in terms of finding a script for it), but it seems like right now they want to put the characters in place for Infinity War first.

Earlier they had said there would be basically a completely new Avengers team by the end of Phase Three.

Ant-Man is in a weird spot where it was delayed and shifted around and had production problems and so on that it doesn't have a larger place in the universe.  I think even Marvel is classifying it as a side story.

Didn't Ant-Man lose the guy who really wanted to do it and sold it in the first place like a decade ago when Edgar Wright left? Kinda like Gunn sold Guardians of the Galaxy, only without the studio deciding his version wasn't "right for the universe" or something.

I think they fucked up all the Thor/Asgard stuff in the movie universe when they chose to focus on and waive all that stuff under "oh they're not gods or anything, they just have really really advanced technology so it LOOKS like magic to us." You lose a lot of the wonder and epic scale of  some of the better Thor stories.

I still think there was room for an entertaining future war terminator film that didn't suck but....

Quote from: Entertainment Weekly
Twist No. 1? Sarah Connor isn’t the innocent she was when Linda Hamilton first sported feathered hair and acid-washed jeans in the role. Nor is she Hamilton’s steely zero body-fat warrior in 1991’s T2. Rather, the mother of humanity’s messiah was orphaned by a Terminator at age 9. Since then, she’s been raised by (brace yourself) Schwarzenegger’s Terminator—an older T-800 she calls “Pops”—who is programmed to guard rather than to kill. As a result, Sarah is a highly trained antisocial recluse who’s great with a sniper rifle but not so skilled at the nuances of human emotion.

:dead

Holy fuck :lol

The fucking Terminator is now Schwarzenegger in a Cosby sweater.

We have a bunch of marvel movies, a bunch of DC movies, and the X-men movies all coming out with their own shared movie universe stuff. Not too mention the Spidey stuff with a Sinister Six movie and possible Venom movie. Oh there's an Fantastic 4 movie nobody cares about. A bunch of DC shows, Marvel netflix shows....

Goddamn  :lol  That's a lot of Superhero media, I didn't even include the yearly Batman games, I wouldn't be surprised if some shared universe videogames come out too. :rofl

Jesus, if there's going to be any sort of implosion to superhero movies that some people are hoping for, it would be any of those years.
