Mercy - A Stephen King adaptation which is straight to video. Normally this would be a huge honking warning sign, but I actually quite liked this. The original story it's based on is one of King's very good ones about the horrors of childhood, and this film keeps that tone pretty well even as it inflates the story to feature length with the inclusion of some Yellow King stuff. Once you realize that this is a horror film for kids about kids and the inability to understand the world and obligations of adults, it begins to click into place. It's a little violent and Mark Duplass flips off two kids right in their faces so I don't know for what age this would be appropriate. Anyone who is 15 would probably want to watch something a bit more violent, while anyone a bit younger may be too fucked up by the low levels of violence contained within. Again, once you realize this is a kids film, it all makes sense.
