I'm watching
Waxwork, the ending is pretty dumb but it's okay, but there's one part that made me a bit

.
When the people get sucked into the waxworks, they're usually like "is this a dream, what's going on?" and then something bad happens and they try to get away. When Sarah gets sucked into the Marquis de Sade waxwork, she doesn't say or do anything, she just stands there and lets de Sade whip her and call her a whore while apparently orgasming. Then the (rich white cis male) hero shows up to save her, but she refuses to go with him, wanting to stay an be whipped to death by de Sade. So this whole sequence is a bit sus, but this is an 80's horror movie, not exactly the go-to place for a nuanced take on gender politics.
But then I'm reading that the woman that played Sarah was the girlfriend of the writer/director.

And that sometime between this movie (1988) and Waxwork II (1992) they had a "messy breakup" and she refused to reprise her role in the sequel.
