Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans.

Great B flick.

So Sonia wasnt Sonia at all (in the first two movies), I guess I forgot that about the other 2 parts, or did they just add that? And how did Victor survive? Wtf
[close]

Huh? Kate Beckinsale was Selene in the first two movies. Sonja was just in a flashback in the first movie. Not the same character at all.

No, the real one.  And it was terrible.  I've been in the mood for fantasy lately but outside of LOTR I don't know any good epic fantasy movies.

Sleepy Hollow
I though it was a good Tim Burton and Depp combo movie, light horror with a little bit of humour.  I quite enjoyed it and visually it's insanely attractive.  The music was cool too. 8/10

Neverwas
I thought it was a fantasy flick, but it isn't really.  Enjoyed it though. 7/10

Flying High
Goddam this movie is still one of the most awesome of all time. 10/10

Stargate: Continuum
I love Stargate and am always impressed by what they achieve on a 'limited' budget in the TV series.  The movie was bit of a letdown.  The story was not that engaging and frankly it looked like the budget was less than they get for a TV episode.  Rolling down a snowy hill that is clearly a white sheet with some snow particles in the air?  WTF?  6/10

Seeing as they actually filmed Continuum in the artic, it had a bigger budget than the series.

They really filmed in the Artic?  Damn.

I realise the budget would have been mountains bigger than an episode in the series, but it just didn't look that way.  I was expecting at worst a "big Stargate episode" but in my opinion it was a "big and highly average Stargate episode".

Ben Browder's salty seaman prosthetic makeup looked highly average too.

The really filmed in the Artic and they really filmed on a nuclear sub. The head of the US's Artic sub fleet is a huge Stargate fan so he got permission to let them us the sub in the movie and really did crash it up through the ice for them and let them film on it. They said having Amanda Tapping on the sub was quite a distraction for the sailors :lol

Normally when someone says "____ cameo was the funniest part" I don't take it literally.

But I watched Fanboys last night and the movie was god awful unfunny and terrible BUT the Kevin Smith scene was rofl genius and better than anything else in the entire movie.

So yeah, it was the funniest part.

The Gene Generation

CG was laughably bad. The dialogue was laughable bad. The story was laughable bad. The acting was laughably bad. But it did have Bai Ling looking hot and taking people out very violently. Wouldn't recommend it, even for people that really want to see a new punkish scifi thriller.

Guys...omg. Oh my fucking god. I've never seen a movie that made me weak in the legs like this. Monica Bellucci is so fucking beautiful it's sometimes hard to read the subtitles. Basically the film is a coming of age story, but...ah fuck it, I don't feel like describing the story. Go watch this movie now, you get to see Monica Bellucci naked. Everything but her vagina thank god

The score is amazing, it's shot well, etc etc...but omg dudes. When I got done with this movie I felt guilty. Not because I had a raging boner on multiple occasions, but because I realized it'll be hard to look at porn again after seeing such a beautiful woman. Nothing can compare. Get this movie, it's pretty good and everything...but yea. Boobies, ass, legs

The Happening

God what a stink-bomb. I'd read the reviews and heard the negative buzz on the internet, but I am in just in shock at how horrible this movie really is. The story is completely illogical and laughable. The message is ham-fisted and hoakey. The suspense is non-existence. The acting is...just...so...bad, Marky Mark is utterly horrible as the lead, he has no emotion or facial expression other than to have his mouth hang open and widen his eyes. The dialogue is mind-numbing, the world's ending and they're talking about relationship problems? BARF. And it just drags on forever. You get a few scenes of things happening [lol], some of which are mildly interesting and then it immediately segues to scene after scene of people just talking and talking about NOTHING. And even scenes where something MIGHT happen drag on and on as if the actors and crew were filming in a tank of molasses. This film has no redeeming qualities. NONE.

The Happening is far worse than the second half of War of the Worlds. It's can't even hold a candle to two hours of Nicholas Cage yelling at everyone in Knowing. That's how bad this piece of cinematic garbage is. It's so bad that the best part of the movie is when:

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Two high school kids get shotgunned. One takes a round square in the chest and the other gets a lead lobotomy. It's so out-of-nowhere and exploitative that I have to tip my hat a bit to Shaymalan, even if the rest of the movie is pointlessly dull.
[close]

Fortunately, I watched it along with the Rifftrax commentary. So, if someone comes up to you and asks if you want to watch The Happening because "Hey, it isn't THAT bad", then you shoot that person directly in the face. However, if they say "Hey, I picked up the The Happening and the Rifftrax commentary, wanna watch?", then you say "Yes", because laughter truly is the best medicine to fight off the swine flu-infested cesspool that is "The Happening".

Sideways

Ehhh, was ok.  I mean The Sandman was awesome, but whoever thought putting Paul Giamatti in front of a camera for 2 hours looking depressed would make a good film?  I find him to be a pretty annoying actor so that kind of made the film just ok in my book.

Revolutionary Road

Man, look at those ....performances  :o  I had passed on this when it was in the theater because the trailer made it look like yelling: the movie, and that's actually what it was!  But boy were those some great acted arguments.  I think everyone's been in some of those before and so the realism really makes a gripping film.  I thought it lost a little steam towards the end and it wasn't a "best picture" quality film, but it was indeed good.  Kate Winslet was an amazing actress.  I could hardly recognize her compared to some of her other roles.  Dicaprio was very, very good as always.  The secretary girl at the office had nice boobs too  :P

If you can find it, look for the director's cut of Almost Famous (think it's titled Bootleg Cut, but whatever).  It's totally worth it.  I wasn't really a fan of the theatrical cut of Almost Famous 'cause if felt too rushed but the additional 40 minutes or so of footage in the extended edition really helps out the film by fleshing out some of the characters. Plus the disc has commentary with Crowe and his mother, which is pretty entertaining in itself.

Yeah that's the one.  You did it right. That edition is out of print so it's a little harder to find but it definitely makes a big difference in the end.  Those additional 40 minutes turns a somewhat likeable film into a great one, imo.

This movie was great.  Wtf at all the terrible reviews and negative word of mouth.  I thought it was hilarious.  Miller really captured the old Batman & Robin type silly superhero show for 12 year olds feel and it gave it a unique flavor that none of the other superhero movies have.  Everything else is so so serious, so it's neat watching a movie that's entirely tongue in cheek.  I feel like Sam Jackson has been getting totally typecast since forever, but he was really good here and very funny.  I think Scarlett Johanson is a terrible actress, but she was actually ok here.  The visuals were really cool and stylish and there was enough story/character development to carry it just fine.

What didn't work is that the movie felt about 30 mins too long, some of the jokes didn't work (sticking a grenade up someone's ass; the kitten part; etc...), and the acting was mediocre to bad.  But that stuff isn't enough to kill the movie.  I thought it was still really enjoyable.  Way better than Spiderman 3, X-men 3, both Hulks, Daredevil, etc...  so I don't really get why everyone hated it so much.  Was it just because it was silly to the point of almost having "zonk" and "pow" appear when characters hit each other?

Ok, so I'm reading the reviews at rottentomatoes where it got 4% and yeah I don't think people got the joke:

"At times, it's difficult to determine whether Miller intends for us to take the movie seriously or whether it's intended as a parody. The dialogue sounds like it was lifted from a potboiler, the acting is frequently embarrassing, and there are times when the drama is so corny that it borders on laugh-inducing. The effect kills any element of suspense or tension but allows The Spirit to be perversely enjoyed as unintentional comedy. Granted, some of the levity is in place on purpose, but I don't think Miller intended for viewers to be chortling their way through Samuel L. Jackson's way-over-the-top monologues. The Octopus isn't sinister; he's silly. And The Spirit is far too dull and personality-deficient to be able to hold together a motion picture. He's easily the least interesting of all the significant characters. And, while Nazi imagery is normally expected to evoke a reaction of disgust, its use here is more in the vein of "Springtime for Hitler." For that scene, I was wondering if Mel Brooks had been hired as an unpaid advisor. "

It sure seemed to me that Miller wanted audiences to be laughing through Jackson's dialogue and wanted him to come off as "silly".  It definitely seemed to me like the Samurai part or Nazi part were meant to be funny and not "evoke a reaction of disgust".  It's like everyone took the movie seriously when it sure seemed to me that the whole movie was an intended campy superhero stylish comedy adventure.  Maybe I'm crazy and Miller meant to make a hard boiled serious film that just comes off as hilarious but when you cut to a T-REX randomly it sure seems like it's trying to be silly fun and not take itself seriously one bit.
