Have you tried railroad spikes with it?  I've been finding those all over and I figured they would go great with that gun.

I thought so too but evidently they're for the railway rifle....I assume.  You can't load the spikes into the rock-it. :(

Seems like there are a few branches to the Moira questline.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
If you blow Megaton and go back BEFORE you go to Underworld, she goes to Rivet City. If you visit the crater AFTER you got to Underworld, she goes to Underworld
[close]

Not only that, but there are about 20 different rewards for that quest depending on how you answer her and how many of the optional goals you do. The Wasteland Guide is a pretty insanely detailed sidequest.

Which is annoying because her voice is quite grating :lol

Fuck that, I crushed her hopes and dreams after she made me chug water that the nuke was sitting in and walk through a minefield with a sniper patrolling it. I wuz DONE WITH THAT SHIT FUCK U MOIRA

You know there's a quest to basically murder everyone in Tenpenny, right?  I didn't do it so I don't know the details.

omg seriously? how do I do it? my heart is racing right now

There are apparently ghouls in the train tunnel that will talk to you.  I didn't know about this until I was reading the strat guide earlier today.  Last night when I did the tunnels, I just pulled a rambo on everything that moved.

Yeah, I found it but couldn't go through with it.  I wish I didn't kill Tenpenny so we could talk it out.

Does anyone find it better to move outside at night or day? I'm still early on in the game. I just left megaton and doing some of the quests.

During my longer treks I find old office buildings and a quiet room to 'wait' in. If I am so lucky as to find a bed, I will get some shuteye. Still, you can even get a few hours sleep in some quest areas you've just recently cleared out. (germantown police station yard for example) -- but what I try to do between the larger quests is wake up at 5:30 and make it a day event, and quick travel back to megaton in time for dinner.

The longer treks are the most dangerous because you kind of depend on being able to find someplace to recharge and not blow all of your stims.

I've only played Dead Space a teensy bit, but I think either way you win.  They're two very different games.  I'm a manic person, so in my old age, survival horror and the associated atmosphere puts me through the roof, so I'm a Fallout boy.

It's gun be a coin toss later for me then, thanks brah

The best part about long expeditions into the world is running across stuff you never expected to.  I basically went all the way west past Tenpenny tower and found some chick addicted to Nuka Cola; she asked me to find 30 bottles of that glowing blue variety, but as soon as I left this other guy asked me to get them for him so then he could turn around and give them to her so she'd bang him.  He didn't even say it was a love thing, he straight up said he just wanted to bang her.  This game is so awesome.

You guys are missing out on a lot by skipping the Moira sidequests--she basically sends you all over the map, so you can do a lot of it while exploring at the same time.

As for night and day, I try to sleep at night.  Like someone said before, this game has a night/day cycle I care about.  Shit is too dangerous at night.  I need to find a flashlight or something.

I hope the expansions add more dungeons/areas to explore and not just quests.  I'm so hooked to this game :)

I only give the guy what I find in the waste, I dont give him my private stash -- but yeah, the long expeditions are the most fun. You stumble across the weirdest shit. Plus it builds up your confidence. I was scared as shit to explore the wasteland until I was forced to deal with Super Mutants in the Big Town missions, but then I learned they're killed easily with a hunting rifle or a sawed off shotgun blast to the face- now the only fear I have is of the Ultra Super Mutants.

You haven't run across any Death Claws, have you?

And I don't fear the Behemoth Mutants considering I have have a bunch of med-x packs, about 200 stim packs, and psycho drugs that I never touched.  If I come across one, I'll just shoot up and murder that fucker.

It's funny, the only one I've encountered so far was in a burnt-out barn, and I was able to snipe him from a distance through the holes in the walls. Good thing I didn't approach and try to kill it close up.

i found that too.

there were some survivors shooting at it but they died quick.  in the confusion i ran in, snagged the stuff from the people as they died, but then the DC came after me, so i hoofed it.  he followed me damn near all the way to megaton

I have about four hours into this game, I'm loving it.  Much more than I anticipated.  Still doing megaton missions right now, getting some things for Moira.  The sense of scale and the wasteland setting is amazing.  I try to quest during the day as well!

I ran into one super mutant early on....but he was a friendly super mutant!  Uncle Leo, strolling the wasteland trying to bring peace and harmony.  When I first saw him at a distant, I crept up slowly.  I noticed no red icon was popping up saying he was an enemy so I went for it and we had a nice chat!

I convinced the Mechanist to stop fighting but the AntAgonizer decided to get smart with me.  :maf

By the way, I love how huge battles will sometimes erupt in this game between rival groups. I've seen several between Super Mutants and the Talon Company with four guys on each side just going at it. I generally wait in the shadows until one side wins, then I swoop in and pick off the survivors.

Yeah I love that about this game, especially when one group is chasing you and you run into a rival faction and then shit gets crazy when they start launching heavy artillery at each other and buses/cars start exploding.  Or when you'll see someting like a fight going off far in the distance between Raiders and Protection bots.  Really amazing to see considering that those battles are completely unscripted.

For once Bethesda's AI routines don't seem totally borked.

I think I just blew it in megaton. I told the sheriff about burke wanting to blow up the town. The sheriff raced to arrest burke but was gunned down at the bar. Burke told me I was fucked. So I broke into this dudes house and stole some shit. Then some kid spotted me and the whole town ganged up on me and I died. I no longer have the detonator for the bomb. Any advice?
I guess when I go back to my last save, I don't have to tell the sheriff. Decisions.
