Along with the "new stuff," the download will bring Versus support to the Dead Air and Death Toll campaigns, a move that will finally allow players to experience all four of the game's campaigns in the competitive mode.

Owners of the PC version can also expect the long-promised SDK at some point, which should allow for the creation of custom maps, scenarios and other mods.

"We should be announcing that before Christmas, what the DLC is," said Faliszek in a Kotaku video podcast, seemingly recorded December 15. "The holidays aren't actually so much delaying it as the press guys--[marketing VP] Doug [Lombardi]'s been taking some time. We'll have an announcement shortly, I don't know exactly when."

As for a movie editor that would let users capture and edit in-game footage--something Valve apparently hinted at in an E3 interview--Faliszek merely noted that the team wants to make sure that playable content will be "the first out--after that, I hate to speculate."

While pricing was not discussed, the new content is expected to be free for PC owners, continuing in Valve's tradition of providing PC gamers with free post-release support. However, it is uncertain if the Xbox 360 DLC will be free, as Microsoft is reportedly forcing Valve to charge for the upcoming Team Fortress 2 DLC on Xbox 360.

i havent tried it out with a x360 pad on pc but its possible yeah

also with some editing you can do split screen on the pc version

versus is the same as co-op except you play as the special infected and try to kill the survivors, play co-op first

I have to get to playing this. I have time now to sink into playing a multiplayer shooter. My only problem is that I want to play it in order and back when I tried a while ago, it was hard to get that going.

Is there no way to start a match from mid-level? My friends were gonna eat dinner so we quit out, but it looks like you can only pick from the 4 levels. Maybe if we had actually beaten it?

Yeah, you can start from any chapter in a scenario. You can only pick from four scenarios, there are like five chapters in each scenario. Plus, the guns/items/zombie spawns change each time.

I'll be available on XBL at 'bout 11:30 PM EST to play it if you want. I usually do a run through with some friends once a week.

Made the following client commands cheat protected: "Kill" and "explode"
Fixed exploit where infected players could run away and teleport back to gain health
Players can only change teams once per map

Tank spawns at the same % through the map for both teams in versus mode
Made the Tank and Witch spawn directly on the escape route
Increased chance of getting the Tank or Witch
Fixed team swap issue

Hunter
Easier to pounce a Survivor who is meleeing
Increased Minimum damage a Hunter pounce does

Smoker
Fixed Smoker tongue tolerance
Smoker now has to be killed or the tongue destroyed for the tongue to break
Survivor's cannot bash someone off the tongue until the Survivor being pulled is paralyzed or hanging
Tongue attacks that fail to paralyze or hang a Survivor will use the shorter ability delay timer
Fixed cases where the ability timer was not using the correct time
Fixed case where you could point at a Survivor but not register a tongue hit
Fixed Smoker tongue not targeting and landing properly through PZ ghosts
Smoker tongue does damage every second while dragging paralyzed Survivors

Tank
Bashable objects now appear with a red glow
Tanks hitting a car with an alarm disables the alarm permanently
Tank frustration timer is only reset by hitting Survivors with rocks or fists
Reduced autoshotgun damage against Tanks

Witch
Witch spawns at the same % through the map for both teams
Avoids spawning within a certain % of the tank
Fixed an exploit where the Witch could be woken up and tricked into attacking Survivors

I'm not worried about the mechanics since my config is the same as CS, I'm just worried about the initial lack of strategy you all have by now. ANyone want to take a nub under their wing and play with me to help teach?

added countdown thing is so great and makes playing as infected more enjoyable. New Smoker is great on both sides. Only bad thing is that the tank can be a bit too tough without fire now.

Updates to Left 4 Dead have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

Left 4 Dead

* Fixed an exploit with melee where swapping weapons ignored the intended delay between swings.
* In Versus mode, the Tanks' health now reflects the damage he takes from burning.
* Fixed an exploit related to the "joinclass" command

melee exploit fixed and tank gets a boost so ive read, i hear it takes twice as much time to die from fire now that the damage is incorporated and not timer based (i havent confirmed this)

Got my Hauppauge HD PVR in the mail today and have been giving it a few test runs to get a hang of the capture software so I ran Left 4 Dead through it in the default settings - I'm sure I can get better results on this thing by making some adjustments. Nothing really to see game wise going on in the video but it is L4D so I thought I'd share the HD goodness.

Thanks and yeah it's the inferior 360 version.

The raw file from the PVR looks a lot crisper than what I'm uploading to YouTube but that's probably due to when I'm converting it to WMV I'm using a lower bit rate. Dunno. Still learnin' the ropes on this thing. Anyway, I gotta get it ready by the time Killzone 2 hits.

I just played a wild-ass mod - bionic jumps, endless health/weapons, super-speed sprint, bumped-up health on the special zombies. Molotovs and pipe bombs going off every other second. That was a lot of fun.
