Well, I think he is. I've read 4,000 pages of his prose, I'm fairly comfortable in making that assessment. Not my fault if you lack a basis for comparison 'cause you don't read anything else

My dad started watching the show with my mom a few days back, and he complained about the sex. My mom had read the book and was the one that really wanted to watch. Yet my dad went ahead and watched an episode without my mom yesterday. Then he watched the episode tonight with the gay scene and he said he's done with the show.

Surprisingly my religious parents LOVE Spartacus. My mom said the sex was gratuitous but the story and violence make it tolerable. While she was complaining about the sex my dad was just sitting at his laptop with a smile on his face

GoT has considerably less action and more sex than Spartacus, dunno whether they'd like it. I have a feeling my mom would like it, for the more character drama stuff

We do the same. My husband has read the books but for my sake he uses nicknames to explain a situation to me. Little Fucker is the brother of Brother Fucker and Sister Fucker. Brother Fucker is married to Old Fat Fuck, who grew up with Capt Phil Harris from Deadliest Catch and was in love with his sister Dead Bitch.

I hope that's all right because otherwise he's going to have to give me a refresher course.

I thought the comparison of Chandler's seedy L.A. to that of King's Landing was apt, as was the analogy of Ned Stark as the Philip Marlowe of that world.

You know, themes in narrative, be it book or film, that are similar.

The end. Not as crazy as the fray.book but I actually kind of liked it more.

Martin has put some clues on his blog concerning S2 casting, and apparently it points to Gwendoline Christie as Brienne:

she's 6'3. Fits the "Hollywood Ugly" mode, ie not actually ugly. Which I expected.
