Been watching One Piece anime.

It's been a while.

I'm on Alabasta now and it's way better than I remember it. Such a magnificent arc.

The more I watch the more I think the manga and anime compliment each other. There's so many moments in the anime that work so much better in it, like the physical comedy. I also think the anime is more hilarious all around but that's probably just me.

The amount of power players involved right now at Impel Down is crazy. I think this will maybe come down to the D? Maybe Teach is helping Luffy reach Ace. Though the whole "I'm on the government's side" thing doesn't really support that. The opposite would be that Teach is there to take down Luffy to rise higher in his worth to the government.

Or he could be there to take out Jinbei and free another Shichibukai spot for someone he knows.

So they're [Viz & Funimation] going to start releasing the current manga chapters and anime eps in English. Seems like a pretty big gamble since they're trying to appeal to the fansub/scanlation group and who knows how large that group is and if they'd be willing to support official releases.

my first guess on blackbeard's possible intent and proles post on the subject seems to be happening? (given how it weirdly it played out)

It was interesting reading about Hannybal's version of "justice" and "evil" and gives more insight into the character.

I really like Blackbeard. Oda is doing a very good job of setting up an awesome likeable and interesting antagonist for the end of OP. Blackbeard is strong & ruthless, but he's also a true pirate and believes in the true pirate dream. He's almost like a rival to Luffy more than an enemy and it's only his viciousness that puts him in enemy territory. His encounters inspire Luffy to grow and continue down his path. The page this week about One Piece was really good. Also the exchange with Crocodile was nice.

AND on top of all this Oda introduces MORE CRAZY WORLD SHATTERING EVENTS that are soon to happen.

yeah, oda always seems really good at planning these big action arcs, and keeping all sorts of checks/balances for the devil fruit powers. who'd have thought mr. 3 would save the day? but it makes sense. of course, i evaluate one piece next to x-men, where the planning and consistency is unimaginably terrible

Nice ending to the Impel Down arc. Didn't see that coming and it was exciiiting.

Everyone in this arc was badass. I'm guessing the next chapter or two will be transition chapters and show other characters like Blackbeard & the government & whitebeard.

I mean they're on their way now so I think it'll be a happy resolution.

I'm guessing it'll go:
-Transition chapters on the sea / other events in the world
-Marine HQ arc with shichibukai + government + whitebeard + Ace's execution + Luffy & friends

Magellen is craaaaazy powerful though. Either Blackbeard will take him out or he'll show up in the one panels later on and we see where his life went after this. I don't think Luffy will ever fight him again. Magellen isn't even a bad guy; he's just doing his job and people keep messing it up for him.
