since i got really bored of unchained blades,i've been trying gungnir, stop me if you heared this,an evil empire called menacing empire name holds in subjugation the land of fantasy name but a group of rebels called heroic rebel group name has decided they had enough and decide to kick the empire ass,but before that the hero meet a mysterious girl called bland name and discovers he has the power of mcguffin name
man SRPG adlib is no fun i tell ya
so anyway being a sting game this game is full of weird rules and such which is what makes it interessing in the first place, there are a lot of gimmicks in this game, these include
1. character don't have stats, when they level up instead their carrying capacity gets bigger, which let's them hold more powerfull items, items give a character all their stats and skills
2. death is sort of permanent sort of not,it works like this,if a character gets finished by a really strong attack, then he's dead and you can't use him in battle's anymore, but if he gets killed by scrappy damage he retreats and you can field him the next battle with an HP penality, with enemies if they retreat you get a random item from them but if you kill them you can choice which one you want
3. there is a job system but there are no skills, each job just gets to hold different items, tough i fear this is going to make some jobs too similiar
4. each time you move, you gain tactics point, these points can be used to execute team attacks or activate special skills, but if you hold them some weapon get stronger so you have to balance it out, this also making holding out your position a bad idea as you constantly want to move around
5. at the start of each battle, you need to declare a commander, different commanders use different unit betters so say the hero is good at using archers while his brother is good at using knights, the commanders you can pick are fixed so there are some missions where you can't pick the hero and as such you need to balance your team
6. when you give a character a weapon he initialy suck at using it,but as you keep using it,it's attack power improve and when you have used it enough you can unlock additional attack which comes with area attacks, more damage and status effect
7. each attack has a number between 1 and 4,and each character also has a number and as such if a character keep using an attack with which he's matched,he'll gain some bonus like "improved chance of dealing status effect" or "more damage" and such, the number also dictates if your character can counterattack or not,as you can only counterattack if your pair of shoes and the attack number matches
8. spread over the map there are base's,holding more bases let you hold more tactics point, better yet it gives you more range when it comes into executing team attacks
9. each character also has an element, this is dictates by his initial element's,his equipment and mostly amusing the terrain where he's standing,so if you go into water there's a chance you'll automaticaly turn from neutral to water or from fire to neutral
10. there is an ATB a-la final fantasy tactics (game also takes the idea of spell charging from final fantasy tactics and as such is it possible to get out of the way before a spell goes off) but it works with it's own spin, you see when your turn comes you can use ANY character so if you want you can even solo the whole map with a single character, the catch is that after you use a character he has to cool down for a few unit of times,if you use his turn again before he cool's down, his max hp get a penality like if he retreated
11. another amusing way in which it breaks FFT,you can jump down from a height higher than your jump rating but if you do so,you hurt yourself and lose your turn
12. speaking of unit of times, you can instantly call your turn by spending tactics point = how much you had to wait+2
13. there are no job change,if you want new unit you go in a mercenary guild and simply throw money at it,if you want a unit in particular you can get it by wasting one of your weapons otherwise what you get it's random and you get a penality too if you don't find anything you want,so for example if you want an archer you can pay 10,000 gold and waste a bow
and uh... i don't think i'm missing anything, the cutscene too feels a little inspired by final fantasy tactics,i think it's the background that do it for me,i mean watch
