Finished the main game in NSMB2.  It was alright.  Slightly enjoyable to play, never frustrating, never particularly interesting.  It's definitely better than the DS one but worse than the Wii one for sure.  It does its job but it's totally pedestrian.

Yeah I bought DD Neon and got the final boss and was feeling a bit burned out on it. It's a little too long for a SSBEU, but still a must play if you're a fan of the genre. Gonna jump back in and get some more upgrades n shit at some point soon.

FTL is running life atm. Mainly playing that.

Still playing SMT Strange Journey in bed. Pretty depressing game, I felt real sorry for Horkos the pig demon  :(

Darksiders 2 requires a guide since theres stupid collectables quests. Plus they make you play it twice to Level up to 30. Then you have to do a 100 floor arena fight.

Stupid... o well. Gonna pitch this one on CraigsList. I dont think it was as good as the first.

Hahaha, I just realized how amazing the Bracelet of Time is for scoring in Bayonetta NSIC. I got 15~ million points out of chapter 7 just now, and I'm sure you can get tons of points from the other stages with giant bosses as well. I wonder if it's possible to counterstop the game (99m) without using the Kilgore glitch.

I also got a 4.7 billion All Clear in Futari God Mode. I can do better tho. :D

I was a vicious Pomeranian, running in a local multiplayer game in Tokyo Jungle tonight. Everything in this game screams "Japanese!" in a polite but incongruous voice.

I really need to get Tokyo Jungle, game concept sounds incredible...

Just beat all the Special stages in SM3DLand, god damn special 8-3 was a BITCH, fuck the black mario that chases you. Now quickly running through all the levels with Luigi to unlock the super-challenging final stage.

Ok, so after what feels like A LIFETIME OF MARIO STAGES, I've finished every last damn level in NSMB2 with exits & coins.

And...it's still meh.  I feel like that guy who said Tekken has too much content.  There are just so many freaking stages in NSMB2, yet 95% of them are boring unimaginative filler.  There's a couple of creative stages (mostly the A/B hidden levels), but not a single one of the 50+ stages reaches the high of some of the better 3DLand or Galaxy stages.  It definitely feels like a fanmade Mario game.  It goes through the motions but brings nothing to the table.  I didn't hate it, and it was moderately entertaining, but at the end of it all now it just feels like wasted time that could have been spent playing a better game.  Hope the Wii U game is more interesting.

Just started Nier tonight. I think the last JRPG I played was Final Fantasy Tactics.

...Then again, I guess these aren't strictly JRPGs, are they?

It depends on your definition. They're definitely both role-playing games from Japan. Neither is a Dragon Quest clone though.

I haven't played NSMB2 and I have no intention of doing so, but I'd honestly expect more creativity from a fan-made game than what I've seen from videos and stuff.   You might expect a fan game to add shit like elements from SMB2 or Yoshi's Island or at least make the game hilariously difficult.  There's nothing about it that looks interesting at all.

I am playing the NES version of Karnov.  It's pretty great.

Done with Borderlands 2 for now, not really sure what I'm going to go to next. I have Gears 3 waiting for me, might also be about time for me to go through Bayonetta again.

Still playing a bunch of FTL though.

I don't think Nier is a jrpg. Mostly because the leveling up and level stuff is pretty unimportant. It's bascily an action game.

I also don't think it's very good, but that's just me.

No, it's not just you. It's basically the polar opposite of Final Fantasy XIII. The world, story and characters are all really interesting, but unfortunately the combat is boring as hell.

Hehe.

The thing is I like Drakengard and even then I like 1 over 2. So combat wouldn't bother me if I liked the story and world as is the case with Drakengard 1. Sadly, I really dislike the story and characters in Nier. The girl was probably the most annoying female character I've experienced in a long time. And the story just felt like it was trying too hard.

But on the flipside, I at least liked elements of XIII's characters and story. I also really liked the World or at least the ideas it had. I found it's ideas far more interesting then Nier's.

But this is not a popular opinion I understand.

I would say Nier is an action game with rpg elements. I love Nier, the story is really awesome. Make sure you do New Game+ if you enjoy it! NG+ has lots of extra cutscenes and exposition

Nier's combat is an improvement on Drakengard to say the least. Anyway, you're really supposed to play NG+ to see Kaine's side of the story.

One of my personal favorites from the last 5 years.

Works been kinda stress/busy so I haven't sat down with games as much as i'd LIKE to, but I've dropped a few hours.

Love this. Really- fuck the B/B+ reviews. This game trumps the original in every way. Quests, unplay, visuals, story, humor...getting tired of reviews saying ALL of this, and then dicking the game over a little because they're all overly-jaded from a console generation that won't die.

This game is boring. No sense or urgency or place- combat is boring. Loot piñatas full of stuff I don't want. I feel like a garbage man.

Totally has grown on me. Baek is best. Ghost mode is exactly what I want from a fighting game as someone who plays single player almost exclusively.

Not really feeling Nier anymore. I know I'm probably right at the beginning of the game, but after fishing 50 times and traversing the same bland sub-maps over and over, I arrived at Facade and thought, "Oh, great. A maze."

That's one of the problems with the game. The core mechanics aren't fun enough to motivate you to go through the game multiple times in order to unlock the complete story.

Yeah. The fighty-bits feel more mashy than controlled. And I guess the big creatures have susceptibilities to some magic and immunity to others... but it's not something I feel driven to explore.

The sad part is that there is so much potential in it. For instance the bullet-hell patterns are really cool, but when you can block them (instead of being forced to evade them) they make little sense.

I think the thing with me and Nier was the characters and soundtrack blew my mind. Gameplay was always secondary when I was enjoying that title. Stupid I know.

case in point:
