I'm about 7 hours into SMT Strange Journey now and I checked an FAQ to see how far I had made it through the game.... like less than 10%. Why are these SMT games always so damn huge?

do you have GOTY edition/DLC? The online Grand Prix's give you heaps of experience. If you don't have GOTY edition be sure to grab the FREE co-op mission pack. The missions are real fun, and another good source of XP

SJ is about 40-50 hours I think.  It'll go faster when you get the hang of it and have a good party.  Then you'll get to the final boss and be stonewalled and have to grind for 3-5 hours to see the ending :P

Have the version that was free on PSN+, will check if DLC is included (suspect not). My Metal Gear co-op partner is being an ass, always too busy to play :'(

Demon's Souls is much easier as the Royal.  You can basically just sit back and pew pew to your heart's content.  Some stages are still really difficult (like the storm stage) because I've focused my supremacy in long distance attacking so if anything gets close to me, I'm essentially fucked.  I was, however, able to beat Phalanx and then I turned around an was able to kill Executioner Miralda on my second try (first time I didn't even know she was there and she killed me in two hits I didn't even see coming).  Also Ostrava managed to get himself killed so now I have the key to that area behind that one knight.

Quantum Conundrum is a poor man's Portal, but I still enjoy it.  Let's be honest: how many first person puzzle games do you normally see?  I'll take what I can get.

I played through An American Nightmare over the weekend.  I love Alan Wake, but if I'd paid full price for that game, I'd probably have been more than a little upset.  Arcade mode is a bore, and the Story portion of the game is beyond tedious—and how could it not be when the concept is rooted in so much repetition?  An interesting Twilight Zone episode, possibly, but a bad idea for a game.

Started TRON last night. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I'm feeling disappointed; the game is a poor-man's Prince of Persia, with a spastic camera, poorly tuned controls, and fairly mashy combat so far. The lightcycle sequences, which should have been an easy opportunity to feel like a badass are instead sabotaged by do-it-again-stupid fall-to-death gameplay. Oh, and the cinematics are muddy, low-resolution, and unsaturated. I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish it.

I'm playing more Rock Band Blitz than I expected. It's fun, but it's a small confection of a game, prancing around in RB3's clothes.

And once back in RB3, it's weird that the 25-song pack that Blitz provides doesn't show up as a separate "source" for DLC, it just gets tossed in with the rest of the DLC purchases unlike every other Export Pack.

I hooked up my videogame systems again and am back to the world of gaming and watching movies after a two month hiatus.  It's good to be back.

I grinded a ton in Matsuno's game in Guild01.  It's kind of a cool game but unfortunately it also sort of fucking sucks  :lol  The battle system is well designed (although a little too luck based with some of the dice roll stuff) and the skill/equipment system is interesting and the writing/music is good.  But it requires grinding to get the right equipment drops and correct skills to beat bosses and a single normal peon battle that you would grind takes 10 mins+ per battle and you might need to do it 10+ times.  Boss fights can last 30-45 mins.  Basically the battle system just moves at a snails pace like some of the old PS1 rpgs.  If it had a FF button, it'd be great, but as it is, it's kind of a janky game you put up with because it's Matsunooo.

Hopefully for his next game at L5, Matsuno will be granted more than 5 interns to program his game.

It's just one way of viewing what you have, or quickly cycling through your collection. I don't know many of the songs on Blitz, so practicing playing them in RB3 is another way to enjoy them while learning them.

The exports from RB1, RB2, and Lego RB are all separately categorized. Since this is a new game under the brand, it's surprising that it's not separated out. There also aren't any other 25-song DLC Packs.  :P

I don't think that the writing is any better, I won't dispute that, it just felt like a better game overall.

who gives a shit about writing in these games anyway; its all horrible.  the best part about them is exploring a giant-ass world filled with WHO KNOWS WHAT.  new vegas completely fucked that up by giving us a linear world where you trudged from point a to point b and listened to lots of shitty writing and did nothing that could remotely be considered fun.

I really really need to play New Vegas. I liked Fallout 3 (which is weird since I normally don't go for western RPGs or open-world games), but I've heard so many contradicting opinions about New Vegas. Like from "amazing game so much better than 3!" to "a horrible and buggy mess that's not nearly as interesting as 3". It also seems that people who generally prefer Japanese RPGs seem to also enjoy Obsidian games a lot (for whatever reason).

Right now I'm playing Mario 3D Land and NSMB2. 3D Land is pretty cool but the controls feel kinda stiff compared to the Galaxy games. NSMB2 is OK, it's better than NSMB1 but not as good as NSMBWii. The music fucking sucks in the NSMB series though, that "bap bap!" is so annoying. I was never big on Kondo's Mario soundtracks (though Galaxy's music was pretty good) but they were at least not offensively bad.

The first chapter of Witcher 1 is awful until the end.  So much running on foot back & forth, back & forth.

Game gets a lot better in chapter 2.

I still need to finish it though.  On Chapter 4 myself.

Been playing more of NSMB2, finished all the regular stages with all the secret exits and coins, except the stupid Fireflower Cannon world. Now it's onto the Star world.

Also gave Theatrhythm a shot... I'm actually surprisingly decent at this, which is funny since I normally am terribad at rhythm games. It's pretty fun and I like how they use the original versions of the music instead of remixes. Not sure what "levels" do or what my aim is in the game, just grind to get Rhythma or whatnot? And that will automatically unlock new songs/movies/etc?

The Bayonetta 2 announcement made me want to start playing the original game again. I'm gonna do another Pure Platinum run through NSIC. So far I've completed the Prologue and Chapter 1, and I've done Chapter 2 three god damn times already, but something got screwed every time while I was recording... First, I forgot I stopped recording when I paused it to do something, so I had to start over, then the second time through I apparently never hit record in the first place, and in my third attempt the audio got messed up in one of my files. So frustrating.

Finished Tron: Evolution. It was... not a good game, but somehow I am interested in the multiplayer, which no-one is playing. It looks like it could be a lot of fun, if people were actually playing it.

Playing Mark of the Ninja. It's great. My only complaints are that RESTART CHECKPOINT and RESTART LEVEL are right next to each other on the Pause Menu, and the audio is too loud by default, and whatever they're doing to bump it appears to blow out the levels pretty badly.

Beat NSMB2, with all the star/moon coins and paths found... not grinding 1110 free lives just to get a 5th star next to my save game, nor am I grinding 1 million coins so I'm effectively done with it. Definitely better than the original but not quite on par with NSMB Wii. The optional levels have the most interesting level design in the whole game, though the way the game hands out free lives like candy effectively eliminates the challenge. There were a few coins I had trouble with (namely, any one that requires a whole stage's worth of Mini Mario) but nothing bad, NSMB Wii world 9 was much harder.

Been playing SM3DLand, seems like a grind to unlock the final level (beat every level with both Mario and Luigi, get all 3 coins, and also hit the top of the flagpole? srsly?) but the game has some cool levels. One of them in world 5 is a pretty awesome tribute to a certain other Nintendo series (no spoilers).

FTL is pretty cool too, d/led it and played a bit. But I seriously have no idea what I'm doing.

Snagged Kirby's Dream Collection.

I'm a Kirby cigarillo since Adventure on the NES when I borrowed the cartridge from a neighbor girl.

Six games plus a couple of episodes of some shitty anime for 40 bux (well, it was free for me since I used Best Buy gift cards).  Not a terrible deal but there were some great Kirby games that could have been included like The Amazing Mirror.  Hell, they probably could have packed in Epic Yarn too since I doubt that sells much these days but this is Nintendo we're talking here.  My thoughts is that it probably should have been on 3DS instead.

Just beat Mario 3DLand and unlocked the special stages... I'm actually pretty impressed with this game... I thought it was a cash-in at first but it's pretty damn good. Nice level design without the gimmicks of the other 3D Marios (was never big into the 3D Mario games), plus there's a lot of levels (even if the levels are really short).
