Played some more Sound Shapes, namely the first set of levels and the Beck levels. I'm not a huge Beck fan but the city level was awesome and probably the most clever thing I've seen in the game yet. I don't like the controls of the game though, it has really loose and slippery controls leading to a lot of unnecessary deaths... also I was never a fan of platformers with tons of checkpoints.

24 hours spent in Dota 2 so far... I don't know why I keep playing it

But I thought the PSN community was so much more polite and sophisticated than the rabid 12 year old nazi griefer distinguished mentally-challenged fellows that are on XBL!
You can't do voice messages on PSN.
Really?

Huh.

With fighting games, it doesn't matter which platform it is you're playing on.  Hate mail will come from scrubs who can't take a loss, and even sometimes from "sore winners."

What kind of hate mail does a sore winner write? wtf  :lol

The game has a ton of cool and inventive ideas, all sorts of awesome visual styles and some great music but the slippery controls really hold it back. The constant checkpoints were kind of appreciated since I was constantly dying because of the controls. Good game though, I enjoyed it enough to some DLC if any comes out since I haven't found anything especially impressive in the user made section.

That's one hell of a late reply!

They send out the same dumb responses that sore losers do.

Although this was a sore loser, for example I played someone named "MMS Broken Soul" and got kicked after winning one match, with the reason being "you mashed and were random," which made me LOL- not sure how doing lk, lk, EX LL EX LL and crouching jabs to stop tons of Evil Ryu axe kicks is "random."  He had EG Ricky Ortiz on his friends list, but maybe that doesn't mean anything.

I beat Leviathan, wasn't too bad but more fights against Reapers instead of having some original enemies  :zzz - the ending part was pretty cool and ties nicely in with the lore. And there are some really cool backdrops you're fighting on.

But,
spoiler (click to show/hide)
the actual part where you're in the mech underwater has nothing really going on, you just walk forward for a bit till you get to Leviathan. There's no fighting or anything.

sitting down and playing through all the SR3 DLC in one sitting. Genkibowl was OK, the Panda Skydive levels made it worthwhile. Gangstas in Space was OK, the missions were pretty average but the jokes were real good. Onto Trouble with Clones now. I hope this DLC is better than the first two...

finished 'em all. Pretty average DLC, solid 6/10 (for all 3). The jokes were really good though. That song that Pierce sings has incredible lyrics.

Still, I got all the dlc for 840 MSP and it kept me occupied for a good 4-5 hours, and it was enjoyable. There are much worse ways you could spend an evening; for instance having dinner with a woman, and having sex with her.

Niiiiiice. It's probably more like 100 hours + played though, because I played it on Origin for a few months and Origin doesn't track play time because Origin sucks.

Been playing Darksiders the last few days.  I think at 6 hours or so, I'm about done with it.  The puzzles and dungeons are refreshing, but the combat is just so goddamn tedious and there's far more of it than I think is necessary.

Probably just stick it out to kill time until Tekken Tag 2 comes out next week and absorbs my life for the rest of the year.

This is one game I don't want to get early...wouldn't be able to download it anyway, but I wouldn't even want to score a legit early copy due to all the pre-order bonuses.

feeling the same way.  its... competent, but the combat is janky (no enough distinction between when i can block an attack and when i cant), and god damn the art style is some of the worst shit ive ever seen.  if for the sequel they fired their art director, tightened up the combat, and made some more original scenarios, i'd consider playing it.  as it is now i prolly wont bother finishing the 1st.

Outside of the chars I thought the game looks fine (only played the first 2 hours so far), but yeah the models are hideous. I think it actually was designed by some ex Blizzard designer? The proportions and general style are similar to the Warcraft series.

And the combat is not good and definetly gets in the way of the fun parts. There are lots of moves that don't really seem to do much... maybe I suck at it, but fewer moves that are more important/have proper mechanics behind them would be much better.

the enviroments i dont have a problem with, although the graphics look like 2002 with this shitty port.  its the character models that i cant stand.  they look exactly like they crawled out of ugly-ass warcraft 3 or wow, so that makes sense.

Yeah, I think it's worth playing.  It's the worst handheld FE we got in English, and the art is oogly, but it's still basically pretty enjoyable.
That is exactly what I was hoping for.
It's more like Shining Force, but close enough.
I haven't gotten to that series yet, but I want to try them out once I finish Shining in the Darkness.

Finished up Gears 2 - great improvement over the first game. I thought the campaign was often much more interesting with more enemy variety, a handful of fun new weapons (flamethrower and mortar!) and tons of much more interesting and unique encounters. Gears 3 is on its way in the mail, can't wait to finish this series up.

In the meantime, I bought and have been playing a bit of Mark of the Ninja. Awesome game. 2D stealth works really well and there are a pretty good variety of ways to complete each task with lots of tools at your disposal. XBLA is on fire this year.

Also, god help me, I've been considering getting back into WoW. I must resist.

Played a ton of RE Revelations Raid Mode last night.

Went from level eight to level 35 and finished the Chasm level stages, then went through all the stages again on Trench level.  I played co-op and got mostly people at level 50, so it was a bit too easy.  Ended up with S rankings on every stage in Trench and unlocked Abyss level difficulty.  Gonna go back and get S ranks on every level in Chasm before trying it, then it's onto the Ghost Ship (essentially the entire cruise ship from campaign as one stage, complete with a boss gauntlet at the end).

That's only for the first couple of levels. You get a faster horse pretty much immediately, if you just spent a half hour in deathmatch or co-op.

You'll get a decent default horse after 10-15 levels. Keep an eye out for 3x XP weekends or just do a few free roam gang hideouts for some quick XP. There are also some easy online challenges to do like pick some flowers or do a few selected gang hideouts in a certain order for bonus points.

No Online Pass, no launch DLC.

No multiplayer, but you compete with your Friends list for best performance. I toasted pussy boner's (does he still post here?) Safe Drive record, but the next day he'd blown my record away by an additional 50%.  :'(

I am probably 40 hours in; for normal gamers, that's probably about 20 hours. Pretty easy overall: all collectibles have a way to get them displayed on your map, which shows whether or not they've been collected (grey/white), races have crap rubberbanding and resurrecting AI, getting full levels in both Triad and Cop required mission replay (but I like mission replays well enough).

It's a great game. You should consider buying it.

It wouldn't have mattered. You can't hitch the horses to save them in singleplayer. You can only "own" horses by gaining levels and then setting them in your Character options.
