I marathoned 6 hours straight and finished Catherine at 4:30am tonight.

Game was awesome and it was sooooooooooooooooooooooo SMT in difficulty/game design.  The endgame reminded me of Nocturne's endgame.  It was so, so hard.  In fact, I'm pretty sure the endgame of Catherine is the hardest game I've ever played in my life.  But it wasn't like the cheap kind of hard, and only one section was kind of badly designed.  Instead it was the SMT kind of hard where it is well designed fucking hard and rewarding.

Really enjoyable story with excellent gameplay/level design and a ton of content.  The main story was pretty long!  Took me between 13-14 hours.  Now there's the other gameplay-focused modes and the main story is pretty replayable because of dialogue choices and multiple endings.  Still, I was planning on doing a 2nd run but I really really don't want to do that endgame ever again soooo probably will just youtube the other endings.  Anyone who goes for 1000/1000 has my absolute most sympathy as you have to get all the endings which means doing the final dungeons several times and unlike rpgs, this isn't going to get much easier on later attempts.  It's brutally difficult.

The graphics were quite nice.  The cell-shading on the faces was outstanding.  Almost looked like anime at times.  A lot of the cutscenes were great too.  Persona 5 is going to be sick looking like this.  zomg.

A+ game, would buy again

Isn't Catherine just a puzzle game?  It's suprising that they can stretch out the game that long.

Is this game announced? I was kind of hoping they would do  SMT 4 before a new Persona.

You are in for a very long and boring grind if you're going to max out all weapons. It takes around the same amount of time as Treasure Hunter in FF13... maybe a little less.

It is, but the game structure is basically Persona 3/4-lite

Instead of school sim sections that can last like 30-60 mins between dungeon runs, you have bar sim sections
Instead of social links, you have well...social links but it's more like 6-10 instead of 20 something.
At night instead of climbing a tower dungeon with dungeon crawling, you climb a tower dungeon with block puzzles
Instead of having new enemies every few floors, you have new traps; block types
both have boss fights at each section of the tower

It's really, really similarly designed to P3/P4.  Probably because the game was a test bed for getting ready to do P5 in an HD engine.

If you like P3/P4, you'll love Catherine.  If you dislike P3/P4...depends on if you dislike it because of the gameplay or the game structure/story/music/art.  If it's the former you might still like Catherine, if it's the latter you probably won't.

It's like that, but the bosses do more than just chase you up the tower.  They have boss attacks that are EVIL and will kill you or cause you to kill yourself.  Like one of the bosses early on shoots confusion hearts and you have to hide and take cover to avoid them.  If you get hit they reverse your controls for like 20 seconds and cause you to kill yourself >_<  Some of the bosses are pretty psycho and you die a ton.

But the plus side of the boss fights are the climbing puzzles are like 100x easier during boss stages because bosses are mainly about dodging attacks and moving FAST FAST FAST so the game doesn't expect you to solve a puzzle that would normally take you 20 mins of trial and error or brain power to figure it out and move up.  You just don't have time.

Because of this I found the boss stages to be harder than the non-boss stages for the first half and then the non-boss stages to be harder than the boss stages for the second half because the puzzles got insane and the bosses were a relief on the brain and more about reflexes.

I'll never understand the Contra 4 hate.  I tried the demo for Uprising and it seemed a lot worse than C4.  The level design was empty and boring and the controls felt even more stiff than usual for Contra.

One thing I really like about HC Uprising is the movement options. The normal run is fairly slow, but you get a dash, air dash, and sprint as well. Once you know where everything is on a level it's just fun as hell to blaze right through it, sprinting and dodging and flipping past everything.

there's a trick to make getting rare pick ups easier. i think after you get something, instead of leaving the zone and reloading it, you can just suicide and see if the closest shiny next to you has respawned. if not, suicide again.

Pretty cool BUT I CAN'T FUCKING BEAT HAZAMA arghh.  It's so frustrating putting a cheap boss like this at the end of a looooooooong arcade mode because of 10 fights + load times.  Took me like 45 mins to get to him and now I've spent 30 mins trying to beat him.  If I turn off the system it'll all be for nothing.  What a piece of shit.  MAD

I don't pay full price for FPS games because I don't enjoy the genre much anymore and because the campaigns are like 4-8 hours and I never touch the multiplayer.  There was a time when I loved FPS games during the 90s, but these days I'm kind of bored of them.

Trying to play Ketsui. My Xbox occasionally freezes in the middle of a run, which is pretty fucking frustrating. I can make it to stage 5 when things are going well, but I think a 1-ALL is still pretty far off. Maybe if I started using bombs instead of constantly dying with 3-4 in stock things would go better. I should be able to top my old high score though, gonna be practicing this more often.

Also, I wish I could replace the "Darkened" arrange in Ketsui Extra with the one in DFK BL. Then the game would be absolutely perfectly.

i finished the new plot of dissidia,it's a little short but at least the character don't end up blabbering non sense,i guess i can always play the old game with the new addition (read FFVII battle music :bow2)

i've dibbed a little on labyrinth mode and i don't understand... does it works like in lufia cave where i can only bring in what i find inside? do i keep all the loot i find? i noticed the shop is selling an item with a cave symbol does that mean i can bring that one inside the labyrinth? does the labyrinth gets harder the deeper i go?

is there a way to quickly gain some experience? i would like to level up kuja a bit so i can do that report battle but i don't have any idea how i can do so since i did all my XP in story mode...

After you beat the game:

XP: Wait until it's your "special day" or change the psp clock to make it your special day, buy all the XP/PP calendar icons in the catalogue, then play 000 scenario (costs 2000 PP).  Fight the level 100 enemies and lose but do some damage and you'll gain like 5 levels in 10 seconds.  When you get ~lvl.50-60 party start beating the lvl.50-60 guys for good xp and equipment drops.  The 000 scenario lets you make a party of any 5 characters including the villians.

Labyrinth: You take in NOTHING besides your character level (and all the enemy fights are scaled to that level) and you get equip with coins and go along the branches and explore the dungeon.  There are a few ways to take the stuff you get in the place out of the place.  You don't gain much xp/pp in this mode, but you get good loot and you get to see all the alternate costumes since the enemies wear them and you get to hear all the music tracks that don't appear in the story mode.  And yeah it gets harder as you progress deeper in it.
