Yeah, but on more than a few occasions I had to go back and replay some stages to find medals. The sun ones are the most annoying because sonic runs at 500000mph, so they're easy to miss. Game's still fun though, I'm gonna get back to it before Generations comes out.

In Futari, I love it when I cause the whole UI to disappear by cashing in on thousands of bullets. Love milking dat squid boss on stage 2.

when I was a medal level short of progress, I just milked the town/entrance stages for their easy medals. This wont work once I've exhausted the supply of those, though  :(

But yeah I'm only 2/3 through the game so I'll see if I have the patience and stamina to 1000 it. The real big achievements are the collect all 400 medals ones, and I imagine getting both of Sonic's forms to max level may require a little grinding.

I got the stupid Tails cheev last night. Lol you have to do his entire lame QTE level without getting hit. That was 'fun'

I was playing Fallout New Vegas and it just got an update today. Now all of my save games crash when I try to load them, and I was on the final mission.

GOOD JON BETHESDA
GOOD JON OBSIDIAN

I swore that after the crashy shitbag that was Alpha Protocol I would wait 6-12 months until any future Obsidian games had been patched before buying them. I must modify my rule so that becomes ONE TO TWO YEARS, EVIDENTLY

you know sometimes the achievement whore in me picks up tales of vesperia again and tries to 1000/1000 it,then i once again remember that this has to be the most annoying game to 1000/1000 that i have played so far so i just stop

i am at case 5 of dead rising 2 but i just don't want to continue it,i love the fact that you can strap two chainsaws to a paddle but that doesn't make the game less of a pain to play

I'm compelled to back Demi up here. DR1 is arguably difficult, just from the time constraints. DR2, no way. Easy-peasy, Zomboni-zy.

i'm not saying that it's hard just that it's not a lot of fun to play,go to checkpoint, unite with survivor,oh no some zombie is biting the survivor, turn back to free the survivor from the zombie, return survivor to hideplace,go to the next checkpoint,oh it's a psychopath, enjoy fighting with the controls and the shitty camera, maybe you'll kill it in a few tries

whole game feels like a chore!

The boss fights are awful in both Dead Rising games, but most of the time you can brute force your way through them if you're always carrying around a few big healing items (orange juice, coffee creamer etc) and powerful weapons (knife gloves in DR2). They become less annoying that way.

Escorting survivors is pretty boring in DR2 because they don't require any maintenance. Just pick em up and ran back home.

It's still a pretty good game though. It's not as good as DR1, but it's still a decent sequel.

ehy it's hard for me to dislike a game where you can murder zombie with a flamethrower made with a toy water gun while crossdressing as a hula dancer but it's the truth!

anyway even if everybody here still suggested going with saints row 2 in the end i prefered to check just cause 2 and i'm having a blast with it! it's like the game i would have designed as a little kid... so much dumb action! oh and the option to teleport where you want it's really really cool,if there is one thing that i hate about sandbox game is having to walk all over the place, the controls are somewhat iffy tough

there are two things that i don't understand...
1) is there a decent way to climb a palace? just hitting above you barely moves your ass,you obtain better result if you do diagonals but it's still feel way too complicated
2) why should i ever buy anything from the merchant? the enemies drop tons of cool shit for free so.......

Mushi Futari is going to give me an aneurysm. I reached my goal of a 450m high score (ranked 31 now), but I still died on the final phase of Larsa. Fuck that boss. She alone basically covers half the difficulty of the game. Such an absurd difficulty spike, and it's all because her final phase is almost impossible to dodge. Ugh.

I wonder if I can reach 500m on a theoretically 'perfect' run. My scores on each stage are usually in this range:

Stage 1: 36-40m
Stage 2: 160-170m
Stage 3: 100m
Stage 4: 50-70m
Stage 5: 90-120m

Hmm... seems doable, but it'll take a miracle. I need to practice stage 3 and especially 4 some more though. I can't score well on 4 at all.

So I decided I'm giving up on jrpgs/srpgs, most Japanese games after I finish SRW Z2.  The last two months+ of my gaming time has been Tactics Ogre (43 hours), Disgaea 4 (46 hours), SRW Z2 (60+ hours right now, will be ~90 when I finish it), and I'm just fucking drained.  I'm sick of long ass games that take me weeks and weeks and I'm not playing anything else because I just get a few more hours progress in them each day.

From now on, I'm only playing 12 hour or less games.  Preferably 8 hour or less games.

i'm not saying that it's hard just that it's not a lot of fun to play,go to checkpoint, unite with survivor,oh no some zombie is biting the survivor, turn back to free the survivor from the zombie, return survivor to hideplace,go to the next checkpoint,oh it's a psychopath, enjoy fighting with the controls and the shitty camera, maybe you'll kill it in a few tries

DR games are high-stress experiences if you try to do everything in the first play.

The key is to just enjoy the game and figure you'll run through it a few times and the first time is just learning the layout and story progression; where the weapons/survivors/bosses/hidden stuff is.

I really like both games, but they can be chore-ish feeling until you get the hang of it.  I still need to play Case Zero/Case West but I haven't really mustard up the motivation since you have to really put some effort into DR to get quality out of it.

edit: Holy mother of fuck, I just realized you can get 45 fucking million from the stage 4 boss alone in Futari. It's hard, but totally worth it. Guess I'll add another hurdle to my run, why not.

If you're still wasting time with unmixed healing items, you're doing it wrong. There are only a couple blenders in DR1, but there is a bar in EVERY casino in DR2, as well as a blender in the Mexican food court place (¿Por las Margaritas?). When I roll out, I've always got a smoothie or three in my inventory. You usually get about 10+ health squares, PLUS they have additional effects, such as boosting your speed, halving your damage, or summoning a Queen.

Sandbox games are walking simulators. That's why they're boring as shit.

Good thing you can run faster than a car and jump over buildings in Crackdown.

yea i do agree,i never understood why the genre was so popular, these new shiny HD sandbox game where i play some sort of demigods are cool but gta? lame! you know one other thing i dislike in most sandbox games including this one is that they always feature some driving and stuff but i always end up fighting with the controls, one mission i did today required me to chase someone with a bike and i had to try over and over because i would keep crashing everywhere while the guy i was supposed to chase drived around like he was in a monorail, heck in fact the whole mission kinda hinted at chasing him and shooting him down while chasing him but i just picked a car and smashed him before he could escape to begin with!

Eh, it's not the content.  These are all pretty good games.  It's simply that they, along with all rpgs/srpgs/visual novels/Japanese padded games, are LONG.

As I've grown older, video games are less and less exciting and less of a part of my life altogether.  About 1-2 hours of gaming a day is the max I can do anymore.  So with long games, I get through about 2 games a month.  With short games, I get through about 5-10 games a month.  Having somewhat of a short attention span and not a whole ton of time, I'd rather play a variety of many good titles than a couple good titles for a lengthy amount of time.

Although, I heard Nier is something like 15 hours the first run?  If so, maybe I'll still play that.  But I'm definitely not feeling anything longer than that for quite a while.

First playthrough of Nier is like 12-15 hours if you don't do any sidequests. Subsequent runs only take a few hours since you can blow through everything.

Game's awesome.

gonna fire up Red Dead Redemption again. I've had a hankering for the multiplayer, and I never quite got the full 1500 (just a couple of multi cheevs to boost and I need to 100% the Undead Nightmare portion).

Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky (PSP) - Just got this in the mail and just started it.  This game seems fun and as others have pointed out, Grandia-like.  Being a big fan of Grandia 2 on the Dreamcast, its tripping a nostalgic nerd trigger for those kinds of JRPGs.  I'm really liking the game so far and can't wait to dig into it further.

Dynasty Warriors 7 (360) - 42% complete in conquest mode.  I have 126,000 KOs and have ten sworn allies.  I was catassing the hexes yesterday and making significant inroads in getting it finished.

I got my box of cheap PSP games.  I thought about rooting through the PSP lists and seeing if there are any cheap deals.  $70 for about six games.

The God of War PSP games are complete shit. Why did they remove the roll move? You cant dodge -any- moves without it. distinguished mentally-challenged...
