finished just cause 2,got 605/1000 before finishing,i did some of the "kill X enemy in Y way" achievements... i was tempted to do "do 1000 sabotage" and the like but i realized it just was too tedious!

anyway as i said it's a pretty cool game but it's somewhat rendunant especialy near the end,it seems like you are doing the same stuff over and over, the map is huge and that's give a nice sense of big island but at the same time it makes it a pain to traverse and there are a lot of villages and military bases that just looks the same... the thing that bugged me the most is the whole black market, you get all that money but no real reason to spend it whatsoever,i bought some explosives once in a while so i could blow up more stuff and uh... that was it,having the game taking place on a fictional tropical island was also a pretty cool idea considering everytime someone does a sandbox game they just picks a random city (new york seems a favorite!) and then just tries to work from that... the grappling hook is really what makes the whole game different, where in gta chasing someone means just driving around, smashing against them and hope for the best,in just cause 2,it's simply a matter of hitting them with your magic hook, many of these mission end by simply ambushing your target from above which is as cool as it sound

so yeah even barring those fact,it's still pretty much the best sandbox game i've ever played, heck i can't help but think that this whole HD gen brings nothing to the table other than some really kickass sandbox games that are much much better than gta

I used the black market quite a lot to get that armored truck with the turret, good for causing a little mayhem, or when I need some more ammo or something. Also, you can use the "Extraction" option on the black market to be instantly dropped over any location on the map.

Fable 2 looks and feels like an xbox game. Like, original xbox. Jade Empire is more impressionable.

The controls are so loose  and shit and the map and ui are awful.

how the hell did this game review so well? I mean, it's fun but scraping at the bottom of the barrel "fun".

Plus, you can't make black characters.

Starting playing Star Wars TFU2. It's easily one of the best looking games on console. The presentation as a whole is top notch. The gameplay itself is okay, seems pretty similar to the first  game which I liked well enough. I guess it's super short too, since I've only played for a couple hours and I'm nearly half way done.

Got an eclectic handful of games that I'm playing right now:

Batman: Arkham Asylum

Made it deep into the game several times, only to lose my saves for one reason or another. This time I'm going to beat it finally and I'm well on my way to that. Maybe another hour or hour and half and I'll have it wrapped up. Probably won't do much, or any, of the optional stuff. That aside, I'm really loving this games, because it's pretty much the perfect Batman game, all the way down to the voices [most of them anyway]. Swinging around and snatching guys from overhanging gargoyles is just so much fun. I wish I'd beat this ages ago, but whatever.

Star Ocean: First Encounter

My last save nearly two and a half years ago. This time I'm going to power through to the end and not let it get set aside again to be forgotten. Here's another game that I like, in large part because S-E basically turned into Star Ocean 2: Part 1 with the updates graphics and battle system. And I loved Star Ocean 2, so no reason not to live First Encounter. The only real gripes I have are that the voices aren't really that good [and you can't turn them off] and they have painfully generic anime intros set to painfully generic J-Pop [in lieu of the awesome CG scifi openings with Star Trek-esque intro music, which was also missing from their port of Star Ocean 2, much to my chagrin].

Planescape: Torment

Finally broke down and bought this on GoG so I don't have to fiddle with discs and such. It's one of those western RPGs that I just absolutely love to death and have started many, many times, but have never actually finished [see also: BGII and Bloodlines], but I'd like to finally finish it this time. Either way, I just can't get enough of the world and characters, they're just so much more unique and interesting that any other RPG out there. And the writing is some of the best in any videogames, it pulls me into the world at least as well as any fancy graphics and carefully constructed cutscenes ever could.

Persona 4

I've had this on my shelf for a while, but never started it. I wanted to finished P3 first, but that may never happen, so I decided to start playing it now that I got that PS2 emulator working properly on my computer. I didn't really like the 3 hour intro, but I like the set up and characters better than P3 and I like the ability to control all my characters in combat. Don't know if I'll ever muster up the time to finish, but I'll put a good number of hours into it either way.

I've been playing the Empire Mode in DJ Hero 2, and started Popful Mail but then I guess my CDX's backup battery died or something so I was unable to save/load :( Gotta buy a backup cart now... fuck.

Also finally got a smartphone so was playing some Android games. And yeah, cellphone games really are shit.

Blue Dragon doesn't try to be unique. It's pretty much an ode to classical era rpgs. Nothing wrong with that as the base game is fun.

The story isn't really the best thing about the game anyways, though the world is full of charm and awesome. Plus, Nene is a fuck awesome villain.

Shu says I WON'T GIVE UP at least 20 times in the game. I like that. He's a total contrast to today's archetype jrpg hero who is just curious and wants to know MORE MORE MORE. Shu is only one thing and one thing only: pussy and kicking ass.

Blue Dragon is one of the best looking RPGs on the console. Very colorful and cartoon like.

It's also ridiculously easy, and since you cnat get the "hard" patch you will probably cry about how easy it is.

eh nothing wrong with being easy, being easy it's a standard for jrpg except atlus game where they are supposedly ULTRA HARD because once in a while an enemy will explode in your face, instantly killing you and therefore forcing you to replay the last 20 minutes

The first few hours of Blue Dragon are pretty bland, but it picks up after the hospital area, or after the first disc. Can't remember when exactly.

The story is just typical shounen shit, don't expect much out of it.

anyway i finished the hospital... i'm not really feeling the game, the hospital dungeon was just kind of boring, every room looked the same, you always got attacked by those lame robot... so far the most impressive thing i can say about the game is that i like how it plays with it's enemies, there is the whole "robot loses a turn if hit with waters!" those enemies that hate each other... those are cool!

There are downgrades from the first game of course, due to the limitations of the platform, but the improvements are awesome. All the 'loot' and materials and stats and sub-missions and grindan and sub-classes.... yeah this game fucking rocks

I need to get around to beating the first game

i really don't like the battle theme of blue dragon

but you can kind sniff trace of FF7 somewhere in certain pieces...

oh god FF7 music is so good... they'll never make another rpg as good as FF7,NEVER!

the boss battle theme is well... i'm sorry it's just a little too metal
personaly i like the villain,he's just generic evil like the villain of lost odyssey but unlike the villain of lost odyssey that whole parrot and subservient robo he got with him give him some flair...

the thing that i really don't like are the dungeons, they are just so empty and ugly,at a certain point you visit a "VALLEY OF DEATH!" and you think it would look like the coolest shit ever and instead it's just a wasteland with some random dead tree popping out here and there...

i think the real treat here is the monster design tough maybe it's a little too close to dragon quest, one of the monster is a giant green humanoid armed lizard that i swear it's there for no other reason than to draw this comparison

1000'd Star Wars TFU2. Game sucks. It feels like a really bad expansion pack instead of a full blown sequel. It's too bad too, because there's lots of great tech behind it. Oh well.

I just noticed the Endor DLC is only 80 points too... I'm tempted to buy that. I've got a spare 80 points on my account as well...

Metro 2033 continued

uh, I can't tell if I really hate this ranger mode or if it's secretly really fun.  I spent like forty minutes to pass this one small firefight that was basically "lol so you have almost no ammo and they have infinite ammo and outnumber you twenty to one and can see in the dark and open fire if they get the slightest glimpse of you and you can die in one hit.  good luck!"  And the auto saves are so stupid.  It randomly decides to save as I'm getting shot at and a dynamite is right in front of me.  Every time I died, I had to remember to haul ass.  Even getting hit once makes your screen flash red and you get tense as hell because it means repeating several minutes of effort.  One enemy can kill you in one shot.  AND YOU CAN'T SEE THEM.  The entire game is so dark, but you have a flashlight, right? well, even though the enemies can magically spot you in the pitch dark, the flashlight makes you even more fucked.  And it doesn't even help you see them better.  They put traps all around the environment you can't see that alert the enemies or instant kill you.  Butt fuck mode total.
