Split Second is nothing but gimmicky kart racing stuff with awful rubberband AI :lol

And the valley of murals sucks in BD. My least favorite area of the game.

you know every review i read about blue dragon mentioned how annoying was marumaro but i don't find him annoying at all,in fact i think he might be the only character with a modicum of personality where shu is "SHONENSHONENSHONENSHONENNEVERGONNAGIVEYOUUPPPPPPPPPNEVERGONNALETYOUDOWNNNNNNNN" and his pals are just there to add number...

The game really picks up after you get Zola, which is at the end of the first disc I think. Till then the game is kinda dull, but decent.

Anyway, playing Strania now. Trying to get the last achievement, which seems pretty doable now that they've improved the bombs in version 1.1. Just gotta not fuck up.

Weird. The matchmaking is definitely buggy but it ususally doesn't hard lock on me when I search for games. But I can't blame you. First impressions count. The game is buggy for me in the mp and actually lags even though that was supposed to be the whole point of having dedicated servers.

I got in a match on the third go, Ground Control. Same shpiel as Frontlines... I like how you can "buy" bonus items. And BP is easy to come across.

But some maps straight devolved into a Tank / Heli war. And at Level 5, you cant do shit.

I'm just trying to hit 200 kills on a gun/drone/vehicle for the achievements, but I doubt I will stomach that much.

DW6 gets old fast. I went back to it after 1000ing DW7 but there's such a huge difference in quality that I don't think it's worth bothering with. Maybe I'll go back to DP or something.

Finished up Risen today on Hard. I really enjoyed it. It felt more like an adventure game with some RPG elements. I liked how last two chapters kind of had some light Zelda-esque elements to it in terms of dungeon designs. Solid game with my only qualms being how the combat was handled. Attacking and blocking was fine but the enemy AI felt so random that it seemed like I was winning battles out of luck than skill.

Now what to play in between now and Witcher 2...

Yeah, at level 5 you don't really have access to some of the anti-air and anti-ground stuff that you need. Unlike most of these games you really do need to unlock some stuff to do damage.

Bombs are fun, yeah. You figure out how to make use of them as a strong attack? Putting one in the ground and leaving it there doesn't really accomplish much.

4 maps left in super robot wars z2 out of 82 total.  At this point each map is ~90-120mins so I've been doing 2 a day for a while.  I am determined to finish this by Friday and have closure on this 100 hour chapter of my life.  And then the fresh air of only AAA < 10 hour gaming life will begin!

I think strong attack bombs works best along with weapon switching.

In other news, I need to seriously stop taking anyone who describes a game as being "like Zelda" or "like Metroid" seriously because Batman Arkham Asylum is not similar to either. Fuck off people!

Wat.  Batman is metroidvania structure.  You go around a big open area, spot areas you can't access, then come back later on after getting new powerups to access them and get optional upgrades or open up the next location.

The last level is where the game went from "this game is shit" to "why the fuck did I play this, I'm never playing another sonic game again".  Why are you even trying to 1000/1000 the game.  It sucks.

I'll never understand Demi's hardon for Unleashed.  Sonic games are awful.  I don't even think they've ever been particularly great.  I went back and played Sonic 1/2 and outside the nostaglia they don't seem that good anymore unlike Mario 1-3 which still hold up wonderfully.

then you are very early. the game has a number of open areas that you can move around at your leisure. eg: the number of facilities on Arkham, and the courtyards connecting them.

It kinda did for me. If only because of the fact that certain areas(read: ledges, rooms) are inaccesible when you first encounter them, but you can re-visit the locations once you've found the necessary power-up and get the hidden crap.

I was hoping Castlevania: LoS would try and do the same thing but word on the street is it's a dogshit God of War clone that has nothing to do with Castlevania. Unfortunate.

Yeah, Arkham Asylum kind of is, especially with how progression is handled through obtaining some new piece of equipment and with how inaccessible places you saw earlier can now be accessed with that new piece of equipment. Not so much in the combat, of course.

Do you need these new abilities to progress through the story? Or are they just for bonus shit?

Actually, very few games do it.  It's rare in 2D games and even rarer in 3D games.  It's why that type of structure is synonymous with Metroid/Castlevania SOTN or Zelda.

Batman AA definitely has that structure.  I think that Rocksteady even cited Metroid Prime as an influence, but I can be making that up.

Played the Akai Katana Shin demo for an hour or so. The system took me a little while to understand, and I'm still not sure I grasp it fully, but it's pretty good. Nice bullet patterns, decent difficulty, fun scoring system. Seems like a good game. I need to watch those pro videos Cave put out a while back now that I've got a feel for the game. Should help me connect the dots a little easier.

The demo is only Shin mode though, so it's just an appetizer for the real deal (the port of the PCB, and the 'unlocked' version of the PCB).

edit: Tried some other demos while I waited for Side Vower to download.

Bullet Soul: Seems okay. Nice graphics, nice music, some nice bullet patterns but they all disappear within seconds so whatev. Seems like a decent casual shooter. I'll buy it some day.

Phantom Breaker: Seems incredibly shallow, but it's still kinda fun. It's no Melty though. Maybe I'll get it if I can play against Japanese people with decent latency (lol).

And now I guess I'll go back to playing Wet.

Scenester, where are you in RE5? I tried co-op and everyone has unlimited ammo and shit now and now that I got a new 360, I have to start from scratch, which isn't too bad, but makes things not fun at all when everyone has unlimited ammo. Playing with someone who has just a limited inventory would make things better. I got two gold eggs while playing with someone. So if the old egg farm trick still exists we can farm till we get about 1.5 million dollars (which is enough to buy and upgrade everything).

That's because you are.  There are five or six total enemy variants and the core stealth tactics you pick up early-on remain viable throughout the entire game.  If you want to change it up, make use of your entire toolset or bump the difficulty up so you're forced to do so.

Arkham Asylum stealth is amazing.  You have all these awesome gadgets and ways to approach a situation.  So much fun watching baddies freak out because you've been slowly taking out the others.

Same with combat.  It seems simple enough, but when you hit the groove it becomes amazing.  Batman AA does the best job at making you feel like a badasss.
