Unfortunately. That's its main flaw. From the GAF thread:

Quote
** Note that people with the DLC won't be able to play as those without it, as the ".Net" version of the game will change. However, if you wish to play with people without the DLC, simple delete the DLC file itself: you save file should be fine, but you'll be back to the previous cap, and without Kurisu. Re-download to play with Kurisu-owners again.

** The Developers are aware of compatability patches and the like, but admited that doing such for this content would just be too expensive for them.
I'm guessing it was either that or make it a $15 game which would've caused it to get ignored even more than it already has.

That's why I never - ever- buy DLC for a game with multi. Gears 3 is horrible at this. You can literally play with nobody. I was luky to even get in a match.

I didn't have a problem doing it with this game, but I fucking hate map packs for online shooters. I'm done with them. It's also one of the main reasons why I never bought Gears 3.

I wonder if the Mass Effect 3 multi maps and characters were always gonna be free or did they decide to make 'em that way after the backlash about the ending? I wish more games copied them.

Not sure if it gets tougher, still only like 3 chapters into that one.  But if you liked ZHP, it's great.  Combat has more depth and gameplay is more meaty, though setting and story/characters aren't as good.

Popped in Rayman Origins, seems like an easy and quick game. Sonic Racingis apparently pretty quick and easy too, will pop that in after, I'm thinking. Or I could do a two-for and juggle.

I just played Chris' first mission in RE6.

It was....preeeetttttayyyy good  :o    Thank fuck you don't have to manage your partner's inventory anymore.   The movement options in this game are pretty great too.   skipping cut scenes...

Seems like it'll kick the shit out of RE5 (not too hard.)  It's pretty deep for a TPS, more so than Gears for sure.

It looks like Disgaea 4 minus the map editor from what I've read. No huge gameplay changes.

played a ton of Arkham City with the kid yesterday. I remember this getting a fair amount of flak but played back to back with Asylum, it seems at least as good. I am ignoring all the side quest stuff for now. Probably helps that the kid is insanely hype for Catwoman - those parts are objectively the worst but she loves 'em

Toy Soldiers is pretty cool, never been the biggest fan of Tower Defense but the fact you can jump in and operate your units negates the passive gameplay elements I dislike about the TD genre.

My son was also crazy for the Catwoman sequences. Not sure why, other than being a proto-perv due to my DNA.

Sceneman, I'm your huckleberry for some online multi boosting in Toy Soldiers. I picked it up last year on the cheap, and enjoyed the heck out of it. Great visuals and pretty solid gameplay! And I don't like tower defense games, either.

You probably want to check out Toy Soldiers: Cold War at some point, since it's themed after '80s action movies!

okay, cool! theres an achievement for winning on all maps I think.

I really like the WWI thematics as it's not a common theme for videogames. Even though these are just "toy" soldiers, I still feel pretty bad gassing a whole bunch of infantry, as I know this shit is all based on a real war and everything

Made it into Amada Corp's HQ in Binary Domain so I assume I'm getting near the end. Just have a few more challenges in Planet Wisp to finish in Sonic Generations, then I'm gonna go back and collect the red rings I missed and call it a day. Very impressed with the game, a couple issues with the lock-on in the 3D stages that they STILL haven't fixed (since 1999), wish that the game was all oldskool Sonic and didn't have that 3D crap. BTW, anyone played Colors? How was that one?

Finished ep1 of Walking Dead. WHY THE FUCK did the game then run an unskippable, spoiler ridden trailer for the next episode? Fuck you, marketing team. What other Telltale games are worth checking out?

playing Feeding Frenzy, great game, as I detest aquatic life, so anything where it is destroyed and devoured is cool by me. Funky cheap ass graphics are also awesome.

MP3 continues to scratch the online multi itch left by Red Dead Redemption. Lots of fun.

Was very baffled to see Scene playing FF on my friends list yesterday. Played the first proper stage of Lollipop Chainsaw. The don't let the zombies touch the cake part is stupid BS as are the instant death if failed QTEs. Worst game mechanic ever. Those dumb things aside it's a fun slashemup game thus far.

Is this in reference to the RE6 hate train or the fact that i've shit on most of the big releases this year so far :lol

either way, yeah, I'm pretty confused why this game got slammed twice as hard for doing what RE5 did except better.  Did the classic RE crew step up their game or something?    Don't get me wrong, this should probably have a different name altogether.  The game's name doesn't even make sense anymore...well, I guess it hasn't since RE2 since it didn't take place in a mansion, but whatever.

I haven't played the demo, but I know the game has had lots of updates.  Not sure how that affects the console versions.  PC version is good though---big FOV, 60FPS, etc.  and  that's the only way I've played RE6 so far.

At the very least, "QTE assist" (i.e. removing QTEs from big cutscenes) is probably not in the demo.

In the demo, aiming is horrible. Even on max sensitivity it takes an age to aim at someone's head, in relation to RE4 and 5. The chapter with Jake had the most problems. The main issues are the controls which are a step down from RE4/5 and the over emphasis on action (which won't change after the demo anyways).

how can you have overemphasis on action in a series that has been all action for almost the past 8 years?  Even in Revelations and the RE5 Gold DLC when they toss classic RE fans a bone, it's just out of place downtime in between the action.

other than that, yeah i dunno what the demo is like.

While it had plenty of action, RE5 had you handicapped without the ability to run and shoot so it separated itself from the competition. RE6, from the demo, strives to be just another shooter.

here's what I wrote when the demo came out:

Quote
This demo is pretty bad. For starters, it lacks the exploration of RE4 and even 5, it's corridor after corridor. On the Leon section, that's not so bad, because there are A LOT of zombies - particularly one section in a tight ass cramped hallway. But that doesn't change the fact that the game presented in the demo is pretty standard shootin' third person shooter. The demo never lets you alone to soak in the atmosphere, it's Hollywood thrill after thrill. Escape from a horde of zombies? RUNNNNN! Repeat. There's even an overly long - and just as silly - section where you fire up a car all with qte. It's like they took a look at RE4's qtes - one of the few games that does them right - and said,"let's do the opposite of that".

My main grievance is the that it feels co-op centric, though in this one you don't have to manage your partners inventory. On the Leon section, I never really felt alone and oppressed because his lady friend was with him. I got to one section and had to wait for about 15 seconds for her to reach me.

But more than that, I'm not sure about the controls. It's the basic things, like...you can't kick doors open anymore, which in RE4/5 had strategic value. (they removed this from the Leon demo because they're distinguished mentally-challenged) There's no more dedicated knife button, which means you have to actually switch to the knife, which makes using it a pain compared to RE4/5. Contextual qte's aren't as fun or satisfying as shooting a villager in the knee cap, running up, and planting his face on the ground. There's something off about the controls, and I can't explain why. They're more loose, and less tight compared 4 and 5. You can tell that the developers wanted to make the game feel as much as a shooter as possible; on that front, they were a success. But they failed to make the actual shooting satisfying like it is in RE4/5 as well; shaky laser sights, and less smooth aiming being prime examples. It's funny how this game which decided to fully embrace the shooting elements, has worse shooting controls than 4 and 5, which aren't necessarily full on shooters.

The demo seems to suggest their direction of the series even further, for example - you can hold infinite items now too? There's no item limit? According to someone on SA, there is, but it's not like they're trying to have you limit and prioritize your roll out.

I mean, it's okay, but it didn't make me want to go through it multiple times like the RE5 demo. I'm not so sure about this game and after the demo, I may just wait for it to come to pc and wait for a Steam sale. What I got from the demo was an uninspired, generic, schizophrenic product that is pandering to a particular demographic. Does it want to be a horror game? Or a full on shooter? Or a high budget Hollywood Gaming fest? I don't know! Definitely not worthy of 60 dollars based on this demo unfortunately.

Maybe most of these problems are because it's the demo, but I'm not quite sure, but after doing the Chris and Jake sections...whatever this game is, it maybe bad or maybe even good, but it's not Resident Evil.

Yeah its casual as fuck, but it's enjoyable enough for that type of game.

I redeemed myself by playing Hard Corps Uprising afterwards. I'm getting better, managed to get to stage 5 on one credit last night.

iconoclast, I might hit you up to carry me through arcade mode co-op (for the achievement) once I can 1cc the game. I have Sayuri so can just slice up the bosses. Do the bosses have extra health in co-op?

The former. Happy to hear you echo my feelings on RE6. It feels like Super Resident Evil 5 Turbo; the combat is swifter and more satisfying, and the stages and scenarios are full of variety. Unfortunately not all three campaigns hit the same highs (Jake's campaign suuuuuuucks), but you're just gonna play that shit once and hit mercenaries anyways.

Resident Evil 6.....urgh. I think I've played through Leon's Campaign 2 times and somehow my save keeps getting deleted. I don't know, I really cant stand the game. The aiming just feels like shit and movment control feels clunky that I don't think I would ever do half the shit you can. I just found the game to be crap in general. Somehow I've played RE5 several times and well I remember liking that game, but I tried to go back and it was also just meh. Re4 though.....yeah.

What were your final thoughts on FE Awakening, Oscar?

I finished it last week, and while I thoroughly enjoyed the amount of content and production values I couldn't shake off regretting picking Normal. The game was piss easy by the time I completed all the paralogues. If I hadn't had my fill of it right now (35hrs) I would have started a second play through on a higher difficulty to see how improved it is, or whether it's as "broken" as some say it is.

As for what I'm playing right now it's Radiant Historia. I wish everything was drawn in 2D, because the environment is uggo as hell, but so far I'm enjoying it. I like the Historia system, people told me it's akin to Chrono Trigger but so far it reminds me more of Tactics Ogre PSP and Virtue's Reward's systems.

why you don't play FE6 after FE7 next? it continues the plot and it's fantranslated to boot

i am home sick (sickest i've been in years) and for whatever reason Skyrim is finally clicking.  I don't think I ever put in more than 2 hours or so with it in the time that i've actually purchased it, but now i'm having a grand old time though i think i may be under powered for the areas which i'm going to.  my companion and summons tend to do most of the heavy lifting for me

thats the best way to do it early on, though if youre playing a destruction mage id recommend getting a mod because the spells are too weak otherwise

I agree.  I got hooked to a lot of the objectives/achievements and mercs in RE5.  RE6 goes crazy with the end chapter stats, which I like.   And you actually get points for them, so it's not just progress quest bullshit, it really wants you to play better (rather than just give you a virtual hand job like, say, the new tomb raider.)  The game feels arcade-ish in a good way.   The extras look way more fun than the campaign...the campaign just kinda feels like practice before doing all that stuff.

i'm done with rogue galaxy,i suddenly remembered why i couldn't finish it,rogue galaxy has

- horrible combat, you have a spell that blows up all the enemies and infinite MP potion, there is no reason to ever fight
- all the dungeons are hallway
- more loading than it should be everywhere
- every single shithead in this world has some dramatic past that it has to blurt up before getting out of their way
- 100% it is more chorish than 1000/1000 lost odyssey, blue dragon and resonance of fate ALL TOGETHER

the worst thing is that it even starts good,it just crash in the middle
so anyway... since i've raved about gust this and gust that and since i've finaly decided to pick a ps3 after they announced like... the 5th atelier games on that damned thing,i've decided to replay mana-khemia... soooooooooo much better

Started Sleeping Dogs today. Not use to a sandbox game having any type of real hand to hand combat, so that's been a nice surprise so far.

For those who care, the PC version 2013 patch for SFxTekken will probably be out this week.

Playing Tactics Ogre (PSP) for the first time. It's an amazing remake but even with the reform done to the leveling system it takes forever to feel like you're safe to progress in the story.

Reached the first real choice of the game and
spoiler (click to show/hide)
it's "either Kill 5000 innocent people or, don't."

I chose to kill them all. Lawful path.  :rejoice
