in order to unlock the final upgrade of your whip, you need to solve a puzzle with a scale on it,the puzzle give you a bunch of gems and tells you to put them on your left or right in a way that the scale doesn't tip but you have no way to know the weight of each gems... well the game tells you in 4 different signpost put in 4 different location that have nothing to do with the zone where the puzzle is,the signpost themself are pretty vague and just talk about "the weight of a joyful heart" and then some other post goes like "the joyful heart is white!" do note that the game leave some of them undefined so even after finding all the signpost you have to guess some yourself
but wait! even if you try to add and subtract all of the gem,you never get to 0... why? because you have to add the main character weight to the calculation of course! how do you know how much your character weights? thanks to a weight machine hidden in another completly different stage, but alas that would be too simple so the weight machine tells you your weight...
...in la mulana fictional language, what? you tought those scribbles were just random stuff? tough fucking luck! oh and by the way the game never teach you la mulana fictional language you just have to sort of guess it yourself
this is without saying that to reach the puzzle in question you have to get an ocarina,in order to get the ocarina you need a statue that is in another different zone, after getting the statue you have to backtrack to a previous level and wait in the middle of a room for no fucking reason (at least the room itself change so you can sort of guess that you need to do something there even if that something is "do nothing") to power up the statue then to get the ocarina you do the waiting game again, but this time you have to actualy pause the game and wait instead of just waiting because i don't know my head is already hurting
oh and before doing all of this you actualy have to flood part of the stage where all of this happen,in order to do so you have to go back to the previous water stage and pull two lever! but wait! this is too simple! so to reach the first lever you have to go through a fake wall,do note that it's not a fake wall close to the lever,no it's just a random fake wall that for some reason magicaly brings you in front of the lever even though if you looked at the map it wouldn't make any sense at all... and to reach the second lever you have to go to another stage that has fuck-nothing-at-all to do with the water stage, you see in that stage there is a vase (it's the only vase in the room but it's not really suspicious because the other room have plenty of random vases too) and if you press down while on top of that vase you warp in front of the second lever... do note that this is the only vase in the game that does this and that you can actualy break it,so it would be like if they made a breakable block in super mario bros that worked like a pipe for no other reason than to fuck with you
but no you see,the hardest puzzle ever? it's the water temple
