I've acquired Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines

I still have this game.  Could never get it running right on my last PC and would love to see how it fares on my MacBook.  What are the best unofficial patches I'd need now?

I played some Gamecube games last night and decided that the Wii is probably better than it.  Most of the sequels are worse than the N64 games (Wave Race, Mario games, Zelda games, etc.) and the third party exclusive are kinda crap.  F-Zero GX, DK Jungle Beat and the Pikmin games are still great, as are Smash Bros and Mario Kart (with friends), and some of the third party ports are alright (Skies of Arcadia) but it's a really poor system.  As bad as it seems compared to other current systems, even the Wii already has better third party games than the gamecube.

Yup.  I'd add Prime 1 and Viewtiful Joe and Resident Evil 4.  But there were huge stretches of nothing interspliced with gimped multiplatform games or just a flawed genre entry.  Most of the time I just played Melee.  The Wii gets alot of shit because its not a blockbuster platform, but theres alot of small fun stuff thats enjoyable and comes out at a quicker pace.  I didn't think 08 was terrible except for Samba de Amigo being broken shit.

The Game Cube was better (and had better image quality, too!), but since the Wii is fully "backwards" compatible with the GC, it wins by default.

Although the GC can also play GB/GBC/GBA games with the GB Player, and that library alone is better than the entire N64/GC/Wii library combined.  :P

Finished Final Fantasy Tactics PSP.

The final battles were cool and all were destroyed in my wake and decided to change my samurai to a ninja and  have a chemist again, which helped out a lot.

I couldn't steal anything for the marqiuz (multiple tries) and after checking around it seems they disabled that ability(it will constantly fail) in this version  :'(, so i just destroyed him and continued. Also fought Argath again and he died like a little bitch for the second time. :gun

Honestly the only battle that proved annoying was the final match with that Machinist Templar guy who had the magic guns. Ramza was the only one left (barely)standing and i lucked out with another chance to attack and also end the battle.

The final boss was a fucking pushover :maf

I dunno, the gb/gbc didn't have much going for them.  The only standouts being pokemon, kirby games, and Link's awakening.  I really wish they would add gba games to Virtual Console.  Hardly anymore of the library is in production.  I'd love to download Warioware twisted or the Advance Wars games.

I downloaded Super Mario RPG, and was playing it for a couple days in a row. I beat the hell out of it way back in the day and I'm at the pirate ship part now, but it seems like I need to level the fuck up because now the bad guys are taking a shitload of my life with each hit. This, Paper Mario 64, and the GBA Superstar Saga game are the only RPG's I've ever played or could stand.

What? You sure? Maybe you had only 10% chance of stealing but if they indeed remove the possibility to steal items from him then WTF. Such bullshit.

After reading some more he has auto Safeguard (aka Maintenance) so you can't steal shit from him. Also you can get all of them in the multiplayer battles they added or the armor and the sword in an extra quest.

Quote
You mean the battle with Tiamats, Behemots, Hydras and shit? Yeah that was fucking annoying. Once the lone Behemoth wandered next to my uber-powerful Ninja and killed him in one blow dealing non-critical 460 damage... Tiamats were a pain in the ass, the fucking enemy Chemist with gun was annoying and of course the main enemy that had Move HP-Up equipped... One of the hardest battles in the game.

In one attempt of the fight that fucking behemoth did the same thing to Orlandeu  :maf, the chemist was the easiest to take out though. Most of the headache were from those Hydra's and Tiamats with their triple spell bullshit.

Good game, pity the final boss sucked though, oh well.  :lol

No I haven't, it always kinda chugged on my previous system, even though other games ran without any problems.

IIRC the game is full of glitches including some that are game-breaking, hence all the unofficial patch support.

I should mention that I'm saying this from the perspective of someone who has owned every console since the the PS1/Saturn/N64 times.  Gamecube didn't have shit for third party exclusives, but it still had a lot of scraps from the Xbox/PS2, kinda like how the PS3 gets scraps from the 360 today.  But yeah, Gamecube was a mess.  I think my even greater depreciation for it started when I replayed Mario Sunshine a few months ago.

and I tried the demos for Darkest of Days and Call of Juarez 2

Call of Juarez 2 is really dull.

Darkest of Days is kinda crap but also hilariously entertaining.  The game starts with you killing native americans under the orders of Custer, then you get shot and a dude from the future rescues you.  You're new job is to go back in time and kill people with futuristic weapons.  They send you to fight in the Civil War with a freakin musket, then half way into the mission, some guy gives you an assault rifle that can fire 40 bullets in the time it takes to shoot and reload one bullet from the musket.

Yeah, the game runs pretty crappy on my system (maybe a patch'll help with performance). The game gets real choppy when more than 5 enemies are on screen.

Alright cool :)
I just started finally playing MGS4. I like it so far. Walking around in first person is great. :)
I'm mainly playing for the story without a doubt. I dislike the way how MGS evolved with the locations and the enemies. MGS3 definitely had the worst enemies. They were all escaped from some freak circus.
MGS4 should be great though, Liquid, Ocelot, Vamp etc.

if you're playing for the story, maybe you'll like it.  The good stealth gameplay goes away after chapter 2.  Then there's some crap stealth gameplay, then rail shooting for a while, then straight up action, then some fighting game-type stuff.  And about a jillion hours of cutscenes...MGS3 looks like 30 second rabbit movies by comparison.

The game should've just been chapters 1 and 2 on repeat, with less cut scenes.

Copy-pasted from my unintentional textual diarrhea at the NPD thread:
Going back through GTA Chinatown Wars and still amazed at how much they fit on here. Also curious what they'll do to port it to PSP and actually take advantage of the graphics, adapt to different controls, screen real estate, sound, etc.

Picked up Daxter and Rockband Unplugged for PSP during my trip, and am really excited to try them both.

Thought I'd try and knock off the Lost and the Dead DLC before going on to the stack of waiting games, only to find my disc has a damned radial crack from the hub outward, about 1/3 of the way across the disc. No-read, "disc is dirty" immediately when I try to copy it to the HHD, I am hosed.

The crack is a problem with the media or my 360's optical drive mount, because the disc is otherwise pristine. Anyone know if Rockstar replaces discs?

I'm still playing Infinite Undiscovery. I'm on disc 2 already which seemed really quick, so maybe this game is a lot shorter than I thought it would be. This game is still annoying me pretty badly. There is no way for your main character to heal anyone as far as I can tell except to request it of the computer controlled players who only listen to you half the time, and when they do it takes them about 30 seconds to actually do it.

The most annoying feature though is that it never tells you where to go next. Sure, you'll hear one of the characters say "Our next stop is the Kingdom of Flubbertyjujubee" or whatever. Great.....but where the fuck is that?!?! If they aren't going to provide you with a map or anything they need to at least give some fucking directions.

Pick Primary Skills that you'll level up quickly and just go dungeon crawling building these skills. The faster you get to the cooler gear the better the game gets.

OMG MGS4 is awesome. I'm loving the street battles and exploring with the MK II. Holy shit at when you move around with him in first person view. This game is beautiful. I'm currently heading to Liquid's camp.
