Aladdin on a Genesis emulator

This game is so great.  I remember trying to recreate it in LittleBigPlanet, but it was too hard.

Playing through Diablo II with some friends. Been so long, but such a great game. First time using a Sorc.

Also, I bought a point card today in preparation for Shadow Complex.

Marching through dqix, might finish it this week if I really try.  Game is only about 30-35 hours long if you don't get distracted.  I'm like 60% in at 17 hours.  The short stories are nice and so are the dungeons, but it's the 2nd slowest dq after viii and it has the worst gameplay systems of any dq I've played.  It's like instead of creating some cool new systems or just keeping it super simple, they thought they'd throw a form of every gameplay system from previous dqs (except monster collecting) in and be like "look how many systems we have!".  Except now they almost all feel useless and the gameplay feels completely uninteresting.  Thankfully there's still a huge enemy variety and they're all well animated.  But no cast so no party talk just makes the experience duller.  No monster collecting and slooooooow homemade generic character skill progression is dull as well.  It's fun, but totally 7-8/10ish so far.  Hope it picks up at the end.  Otherwise it's disappointment of the year so far.

Tried to play some more blazblue story mode.  I realized that some characters are just not fun to use against the computer because they take forever to win a round with.  Noteably Rachael.  I love using her and playing traps against friends, but going through the cpu campaign with her is sooooo boring.

Also tried a bunch of demos:
-Katamari PS3 = nice filter but camera is shit and game is pointless
-Vesperia PS3 = nice port, pirate girl is alright; never want to play this game again
-Trials = fun, but don't want to pay $15; would buy at $10
-'Splosion Man = ok, didn't really grab me enough to buy
-TMNT remake = lolz, couldn't stand the framerate and controls

I'm trying to get into DQ5, but can't.  I don't think DQ games are for me.  Just feels a bit kiddy and it has that kinda choppy, low framerate scrolling when you're walking around that reminds me of budget 16-bit RPG games.

but I'm kicking ass in the world of ruin in FF6.  I was going to just rush through to Kefka, but I'm enjoying the reuniting scenes so much that I'll take my time.

Been playing three FF games all weekend:

Picked up FFIV: The After Years again after a couple weeks of not caring about it, I'm at that Oasis town right now.

Replaying FFVI Advance, at the world of Ruin after recruiting Cyan.

Replaying FFVIII on the PSP with a friend, we're just starting off.

Oblivion - Buggy POS
Trials HD - Frustrating but rewarding

I'm thinking about grabbing Lego Star Wars from Goozex but I'll get bored of the game within two hours so I dunno. ???

Played about half of Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, gonna probably finish it up this evening... pretty damn fun game, making it through the single-player game is cake, but stringing "combos" together is a lot of fun, you can totally see the Mario Galaxy team did this. Graphics are really amazing for the 'cube as well.

Man I was pissed when I finally beat Bosch in his dragon form and I then this f'in huge dragon appeared. Think I got the good ending since Ryu re-opened his eyes when Nina came running back.

, If it wasn't for my huuuge backlog (still "have" to play some PSX RPGs..) I'll start another playtrough right away. Wish more games would use this "start over and keep all the equipment and skills" system sure It's confusing at first but when you get the hang of it it just adds to the fun. BTW has anyone an idea what impacts the D-Ratio? Got from 1/8195 to 1/2018 (or sum like that) and if its possible i'd really like to get down to atleast 1/100...

After that I started with "Blood will tell" which someone recommended over at GAF, and so far It's really fun. It has a real intereseting story and premise (you play a guy whos father "gave" him away to demons which then took 48 of his body parts and he tries to get them all back. For instance at first you sound like a robot but after you get your vocal chords back you can talk normal again) Gameplay is hack and slay with RPG elements and lots of combos (kinda like Godhand).

Really glad I gave it a try since before reading about it on GAF never ever even heard of this gem. Thats SEGA for you, always brilliant in marketing their games/consoles..

I borrowed Oblivion off a friend. Have never played for more than a few minutes.

Pick Primary Skills that you'll level up quickly and just go dungeon crawling building these skills. The faster you get to the cooler gear the better the game gets.

the problem is that even the lowliest creatures get that gear too, so you no longer feel special :(

Downloaded the Trine demo off steam.  Real nice game. A mix of Lost Vikings and Prince of Persia. Controls really well, using the wasd/mouse interface in a very natural fashion. I really like the arrow shooting mechanics.

I don't know why, but at some point today I decided that I would watch Romancing the Stone and replay Uncharted.

One thing I don't remember about Uncharted was that it was a Teen rated game.  It's pretty gory considering.

Nice reference. I miss Eddie Murphy when he was still that funny. The world has become too politically correct, if that shit's not considered funny anymore.

Agreed, there is just something addicting about the oldskool games that keeps me coming back. I love the punishing difficulty and slightly clunky mechanics sometimes.

I picked up Trials HD and wasn't expecting too much since I've played the hell out of the second one on Steam but I'm kind of addicted again.  I'm not all that great at it (can't seem to get even one gold on the Medium levels) but I'm having fun trying to beat times on gamers from the shallow end of my friends list.

It's awesome you got the game, I'll have a look at your times tonight. :hyper  I've been going for gold medals and thinking I might come back to get better times once I unlock quicker bikes.  I heard there's platinum medals but I haven't investigated that.

Might even try making a user level sometime to share. :-*

I played some medium levels last night and find some pretty challenging.  The harder levels are probably going to be insanely hard at this rate.

The GameStop I visited in Ala Moana Mall (2nd nicest GS ever) had tons of the Arcade discs. Sega sumfin-sumfin Tennis and PacMan CE, that goofy fireworks rhythm game, all on one disc for 5 bucks. It was tempting.

At the final dungeon in dqix in about 27 hours.  Game is pretty short if you avoid the L5 disease of 80 million useless optional things that aren't actually fun to do.

Opinion is that it's a good, but not great dq so far.  Will see if the ending changes that.  The story actually got worse when the real plot kicked in as it's pretty blahhhh.  Then again dqviii had a weak plot too and was even slower.  But there are a few things I liked about dqviii better.

Excited for DQVIr, not so much about DQX at this point.

Persona 3 FES: Trudging along.  Love the game, but it requires tons of time and attention.  Hopefully I could finish it before the year ends.

Sonic 2: My retro game of the moment.  Not my favorite Genesis installment, but this game has aged pretty well.  Casino Night Zone is still awesome after all these years.
