Natal...is basically just EyeToy: Awesomer
Agreed, what are these people comparing it to the Wii controller on?
The Wii controller for better or worse is STANDARD with the game system. Meaning, every game uses it (which most people think is worse, but Nintendo markets brilliantly regardless of game quality.) It's part of the system's identity.
This camera thing is going to have a packet of minigames they showed come with it, and some minor add on support put in future actual games ALA connectivity, six axis, and whatever the fuck else there's been that was irrelevant the past 10 years.
No one is going to design a game from the ground up with this thing for a peripheral someone has to buy for probably upwards of $100.00. These peripheral things NEVER work unless they're very small, cheap incremental things that come in games (ala N64 expansion pack that comes in a game itself.)
Nintendo's really kicked Sony and Microsoft's ass marketing wise this generation. There's no one who can deny that. Most of the Wii games are third party shovelware, Nintendo itself isn't even churning out games near as much as they used to and the ones they do are almost exclusively Gamecube ports, and a silly fitness game has pushed the Wii to a ridiculous level.
But the real kicker is that Microsoft and Sony keep trying to MATCH it and keep shooting themselves in the foot. It seriously is funny as hell to watch from a business standpoint. Sony throws in some halfhearted axis control support and dumb Eyetoy thing for a nice waste of money, while Microsoft probably sunk a TON into that camera peripheral and are going to get burnt big time when they find out no one is buying it and future game support for it rivals past failed add-ons. It's like Nintendo is kicking these guys in the nuts and they're trying to heal themself by shooting themselves in nads.
