i can barely remember 90% of the stories in games i've played, most video game writing is dire

a couple have grabbed me while playing, like half-life 2, but for the most part i welcome the skip button

i much prefer the insane plotlines and dialogue of games like darkest of days and wolfenstein to deathly desperate attempts at cramming some meaning into why you're exploding brown people's heads with grenade launchers

just give me some weaponry which defies both physics and logic, shut the fuck up, and let me shoot aliens or foreigners

Fuck that, play the first one, Groo. It was a fun game and you can beat it fairly quickly. I really enjoyed it.

The stories appear to be self-contained; all you need to know is that Nathan is a treasure hunter, Sully is his buddy, and Elena is a TV host following Drake around in the original.

Uncharted looks like it's basically fixed most of the issues with Uncharted, so I'm not sure I'd bother. Doesn't seem like the backstory is important. Shouldn't be, since the story of the first was pretty basic stuff.
