Did Amy Hennig write these games, btw? The Blood Omen/Soul Reaver games had great writing but Uncharted 1 was just kinda cheesy action comedy stuff.

Eh, I already know a guy that has infamous and I can probably just bum his copy. As a potential PS3 owner I'm a little lost in what I should get and Killzone 2 seems like a safe bet because it's a ton of shooting and explosions. Though if you have any other ideas, I'd love to hear them.

You mean Crossfire? I actually bought that to play on a friends PS3 and couldn't make it past five minutes.

Not Crossfire, the new Japan-only title Battlefield Record UC 0081. It's actually playable and really awesome.

If that's your mindset going into it, then you will probably love it. It's a solid and fuck awesome looking shooter with great A.I., just be prepared for seriously cringeworthy dialog, a critically meh story and an almost uninterrupted mass of shooting space nazis. It doesn't really do anything else, ever. Also, play on Veteran, and avoid using cover.

The plot is easy enough to ignore, but the in-game banter... urgh. It's of the Gears type, but something about it is just off. Maybe it sounded natural in Dutch, don't know. Luckily, you spend most of the time fighting, and that part is really good, though individual sometimes goes on for too long. And when that happens, it doesn't help that the next skirmish is most likely another one just like the one you played through.

I totally agree about the lack of punch behind the weapons (thankfully fixed in Uncharted 2), but I thought the skirmishes were refreshingly mobile. Could just have been because I compared to clunkity Gears, but I liked the whole leaping between cover thing. And the enemies jump-crouching all action-movie like was neat. The guns, though, meh.

And I think it was trying to be an action/adventure game with a matinee bent. The adventure bit felt underdeveloped, wonder how much budget and time restraint had to do with that.
