Saw the first episode of the new smallville season, how the fuck has this show be going for 9 years? the acting is fucking horrible and the script is distinguished mentally-challenged even by superhero comics standards, terrible terrible show.

Sarah Connor Chronicles, Fringe and Eleventh Hour have started airing in Australia in the last few months - I'm enjoying all of them a bunch.

Sadly Chronicles which was just getting good has stopped airing for now. :(

Yeah, but we're only up to the end of season 1 here.  Well, 8 episodes in, the 9th episode season finale hasn't aired and because of some crap between different networks which means it won't be shown for a while. >:(

Did it ever get better than the first few episodes? I watched 5 or so and thought it suffered from the typical problem of serialized TV shows: a need to maintain absolute status quo so that the episodes can be syndicated and viewed in any order. Knowing that nothing can change is perhaps ironically appropriate to the material, but it killed all suspense for me.

It surprisingly does get a lot better by the end of season one.  I trudged through the first two boring episodes and then just watched bits of episodes occasionally having basically written it off.  But I joined in again about episode 7 to give it another chance and it got progressively better to season end as some more interesting storylines developed.

Looking at the episode lists I realise I did indeed see episode 9 being the season finale - I thought it was very good and the best episode yet.

Leon has single handedly saved that show.  I kind of thought Curb was getting a little stale by season 5 but then along comes the Blacks.

That guy needs a spinoff.

The series does not follow that. There are a few filler episodes in the second season that fill as if they could be taken out without effecting the plot. It does have an evolving storyline where the characters change and do things that effects the rest of the storyline.

As far as the series go I remember watching the leaked first episode a while back and laughed it off, thinking the series was going to be trash. After the show ended and I kept hearing how much better it got as it progressed I decided to force myself to sit down and watch all of the 2 seasons. I ended up really liking it at the end.  It actually felt more "Terminator" than the last two movies with all the actors playing their parts pretty well (and in some cases better).  The good and bad is that the second season ends on a very high (yet frustrating) note. As far as fearing if the show "plays it safe" it did surprise me a few times on how they handle certain characters. I think it's worth a watch by anyone who felt burnt by the last two films. It's a far better Terminator 3 than Terminator 3.

Huh. I liked T3, but I already like that actor from Carnivale, and thought the groovy '70s DEFCON base was neatly believable. I'll scope the Chronicles though, based on your guys' reviews.

When I was younger I never really watched X-Files like some people did. Some guys I knew were reeeaaalllllyyy into the X-Files. I'd catch an episode here & there. Well anyways, I just recently started watching season 1, you can really tell the difference in time. But hey, It makes me feel a little nostalgic, it's like it's 1993/94 again. :P

So far, only half way through season 1. It's alright, something to veg to I suppose. From what I've gathered, people say 2-4 are the best seasons.

Yeah season 1 was good, but they never expected it to blow up when it started and it shows. The 3 seasons after that you can really see the show get amazing. The mid nineties setting is so cool too, with internet and mobile phones coming up. Man I love the X-Files.

Yeah, I just started Season 2, and so far it's pretty cool. I think So far Season 2 is by far better then season 1, you can tell they got more funding for Season 2. Production is a lot better. Less corny. :P

That was one of the best episodes I've seen from the series in years. If there's any character on TV that deserves a spin-off, it's Butters.
