WandaVision episode 8:

spoiler (click to show/hide)
-So unless we're getting swerved, Evan Peters wasn't playing X-Men Quicksilver and was just "Fake Quicksilver" rigged up and controlled by Agatha.  No multiverse yet.  Kind of disappointed because I started expecting this to be the case, but was hoping he'd end up being Mephisto in disguise.

-Infinite stone flashback!  It was kind of hard to tell what was happening, but when Wanda interacted with it, was there a shadow of a woman there?  It kind of looked like someone in costume.

-White Vision was kinda cool- there's a way to bring him back, although if it stays that way, the character is going to be pretty boring since that version of him was devoid of emotion.

It was basically Marvel Porn: The Episode.

The shadow in the exploded Mind Stone looked like comics Scarlet Witch, and there was already a commercial for Nexus, implying the concept exists in the MCU. Basically Nexus individuals are the same across the multiverse. And Agatha at the end seemed to talk this way too. The Loki show will apparently deal with this too.

Vision's mind from Wanda's mini reality will take over white-Vision's body, basically bringing back real Vision. Maybe. Not sure how this show will lead into Strange at this point...

Deadline: ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Franchise To Expand With Launch Of Nickelodeon’s Avatar Studios, Animated Theatrical Film In The Works.

After getting booted off the Netflix show, because the streamer apparently wanted, among other things, an older Katara and younger Sokka, I'm really happy Mike and Brian now have their own goddamn studio with assumedly full creative control over the franchise. :hyper

Eagerly awaiting for more stuff from the likes of Studio Mir.

For the final Wandavision ep I'm dropping my expectations to rock hard zero.

I'm not even expecting the multiverse anymore, probably won't even appear until midway through Dr. Strange 2.

They're still grounding the MCU really hard.

Now imagine how much better that boring recapping-information-you-already-know-if-you-have-watched-the-films-these-characters-were-in episode of Wandavision would have been if it had stayed leaning into the 'tell everything in TV format' initial premise, and had been done as a clipshow episode or whatever with 'cast interviews'.

...it also pretty much guarantees next episode is mostly going to just be people shooting different coloured energy beams at each other  :-\

The multiverse thing is funny.  They've faked us out (seemingly) twice with this show (so far) and Spider-Man Far From Home, lol.

My expectation is the show ends with them teasing something with the multiverse and setting up the next Dr. Strange movie.  If not?  Everyone's going to forget about it and move onto the Falcon and Bucky show right after.

Nothing of any note will happen because they don't want to confuse people who only watch the films. It's the same situation we were in with the previous Marvel TV shows.

Dr Strange won't even mention or acknowledge any of the events.

My expectations for the Dr Strange 2 tie-in is literally a post-credit scene where

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Scarlet Witch goes "oh no I am a magic witch not good at controlling my powers, I should go to magic training" and someone is like "I know just who to call..."
[close]

There is your Dr. Strange 2 Multiverse of Madness tie-in.

Wooohooo

Like I said I'm keeping expectations for anything crazy/interesting really low, I expect next ep just gonna be

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Vision vs. Vision and in the end they merge with Vision body + Wandavision Vision personality.

Wanda learns more about the scarlet witch/chaos magic/hex powers and with the help of Monica she gets it under control and fixes everything.

The end.

I actually really enjoyed the sitcom spoof stuff with some mysteries and thought that was the highlight of the series. These last few eps are a bit too normal and not enough Kat Dennings and Randall Park.

Ya, I would have prefered keeping the sitcom facade for the last two episodes.  I think a final battle where it's morphing in an out of all era sitcoms would have been cool.   The Malcolm In The Middle episode was the best one.  I did really like the explosion scene and her and Vision sitting on the bed - those hit home for me and made her trama feel a lot more earned.

I enjoyed it - it wrapped everything up maybe too much in such a short time and I wish the last two episodes were more tied to sitcom stuff though.  The ending was actually pretty emotional though.  I think most people who will be let down by this will either be people who expected too many internet theories to be true or people who liked how unique the first episodes were over other Marvel stuff.  Before this, I can't say I wanted a Wanda and Vision story but this really filled out their characters and in a way I think would have been hard to do with a 2-hour movie.   I really hope that is how Marvel Disney+ shows are going forward, as a way of telling stories that wouldn't work as movies, to fill out existing characters, and to be more experimental with the formula.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Scarlet Witch costume is amazing and I loved that they brought back creepy Wanda from Ultron.  Vision defeating himself with logic was really fun and Wanda casting the hexes was a great way to do character development during a fight.

Wandavision ending was fine.

The series as a whole was basically the same as if we had gotten a theatrical 2 hour Scarlett Witch origin story movie. This would have been that movie basically.

I'm fine with no interesting twists since I had low expectations for anything multiverse or cool from the comics at this point in the show, however they left a HUGE FUCKING ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM

spoiler (click to show/hide)
So like fake Pietro was some loser dude being mind controlled by Agnes.

...ok, so how did he have SPEED POWERS.

Like the kids had powers because they weren't real. This is a real person, there's nothing shown that Agnes or Wanda would've been able to give him the ability to move at the speed of sound or something.

Even if they weren't going to have him by Quicksilver from the fox series, they could have at least had something in the ending or post-credit that tried to explain the hex magic gave him powers like Monica or something.

Because him just vanishing out of the show without explaining that is some real fucking bullshit.

Also given that Feige keeps fucking trolling everyone. Multiverse in Spider-Man 2, Pietro in this.

I'm calling it that all the Spider-Man 3 rumor stuff was started by Fiege to troll the fuck out of fans and there's not going to be any multi-verse shit in that. No spider-verse like people expect. Fiege will keep laughing his ass off while fans are disappointed.

I'm not even sure if there will be a multiverse in multiverse of madness. Could be super troll title.

Also one thing that's pretty bad about the Wandavision finale is the lack of consequences.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Like Wanda may have subconciously made Westview, but she became very aware of it at some point and continued to enslave and torture thousands of people.

Then she ends it and goes up to Monica and Monica smiles and goes "BAE, WOULD'VE TORTURED THEM ALL TOO TO SEE MY MOM AGAIN TOO"

and Wanda leaves and it's all ok!

yeah, ultimately wandavision just ended as standard mcu fare, right down to shooting huge lasers into the sky, and spending a third of its runtime on sitcom pastiche was just padding they didn't do anything particularly interesting with.

Think I'm going to be fine skipping falcon and winter soldier.

I definitely think it's very much this, but to be fair, Evan Peters' casting was like a massive troll on Marvel's part.  :lol

I think this was explained by

Monica removing the necklace around his neck- it seemed to imply that this turned Ralph into "Pietro" and the source of his power/Agatha's control.  It just wasn't done very well and he kinda disappears from the show after this.

I'm not even sure if there will be a multiverse in multiverse of madness. Could be super troll title.

I think this is where we'll see an actual multiverse element introduced- just don't think this should mean "OMG X-MEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!" as fansites are speculating.  It's supposed to have more of a horror-tinged element to it, so maybe it means twisted, evil versions of characters popping up.  WandaVision's small connection to this movie is clearly
spoiler (click to show/hide)
Wanda in her astral form studying the Darkhold at the end.  Interesting that it was referenced by name- I can't remember if it looks the same as the one in Agents Of SHIELD but I doubt there's a connection.  My assumption is she will pop in that movie using the Darkhold to try to get her kids back, which leads to more bad shit happening.

she did just kind of up and fly away at the end and it's not like anyone could have stopped her.  The aftermath could be covered in a later show or movie.  Could also end up being swept under the wrong with a character saying "Agent Rambeau's report indicated that Agatha was responsible for the entire Westview incident" or some nonsense.

The Sword guy started sending missiles right into a town with a civilian population who didn't do anything.  He was also trying to "weaponize" the Vision and possibly Wanda.

Wikipedia entry:
Quote
He is revealed to have lied to Monica, FBI agent Jimmy Woo, and astrophysicist Darcy Lewis earlier about Wanda and has been working on a secret project dealing with Vision. The project culminates with Vision being reactivated by exposure to Wanda's powers from a drone. His plan to eliminate Wanda with Vision, however, fails when Wanda's hex Vision restores Vision’s memories. When the hex is down, Darcy stops Hayward, and he is arrested for tampering with evidence and removed from S.W.O.R.D.

White Vision flying off like that was kinda "uhhhhh....?", yeah- but with all theses shows and movies all connected, it just means we'll see what happens later on.  If this is following the comics, he'll be the cold, emotionless Vision.

this is a scenario where  literally half the planet vanished for 5 years because of super hero fuckery, the sokavia accords or whatever were signed to try and stop super powered fuckery after a whole city got nuked, and wandas a former terrorist who exploded a towerblock full of people, and has been torturing a town of civilians for however many weeks before they showed up.

like... arrested for 'lying to named characters from previous movies' and 'tampering with evidence'? :lol
He's the fucking head of a black ops anti-supe unit, of course he's building specific anti-supe weapons and not telling the FBI, civilian consultants or subordinates who've been MIA for half a decade about everything.

It literally only makes sense from the perspective wanda is definitely A Good Guy and anythung they do is therefore justified in the long run - and the show sure as shit didn't do much to reinforce that. Look at the teams they sent after the Winter Soldier to take him out in civilian areas, and he's sure as shit less of a threat to the populace at large than wanda was shown to be.

Just absolute mess. Made even more messy with blind-loyalty-monica going off to join the skrulls at the end :lol

I feel like maybe the us "golden age of tv shows" ended with game of thrones. Personally I've been drifting more towards european crime dramas in the last year or so. I've even watched a few korean shows ffs!
Mind you, there's still a lot of decent shit produced in the US, and it's not like any other country has better output, but it just doesn't feel the same anymore.  :'(

It was okay but by the end felt like all the other MCU stuff: kind of dumb and plenty of wasted potential.  I’m really done with superhero stuff doing the dragon ball z fights, too.  If you’re going to go that route, the least you could do is put some focus on the destructive mayhem and terror it instills for those caught up in it, ala Man of Steel.

New pics from the Stranger Things S4 season

https://twitter.com/StrangerNews11/status/1371944378646814727

And some news:

Quote
Stranger Things Season 4 is one of the numerous Hollywood productions that was delayed due to COVID-19. Director Shawn Levy told Collider that the pandemic "definitely massively delayed shooting" on the new season, which impacted the release date.

There was a silver lining, however. Levy said the production delays gave the creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, time to finish writing the season before filming. That has never happened before.

"The quality of these screenplays are exceptional, maybe better than ever
," Levy said.

Writer Brent Forrester has revealed that King of the Hill co-creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels are in the middle of “hot negotiations” to bring back the animated series that originally aired on FOX for 13 seasons.

Brent Forrester participated in a Reddit AMA yesterday (via TechRadar) to answer any questions fans may have had about his time working on shows such as The Office, The Simpsons, and King of the Hill. One fan asked about the possibility of the King of the Hill revival coming back around after it was originally teased as a possibility back in 2017 but ultimately didn’t go anywhere. Forrester’s response brought the potentially exciting news:

Quote
“I am sure Greg Daniels and Mike Judge will murder me for sharing this but… HELL YES. They are in hot negotiations to bring back King of the Hill. The Trump administration made it suddenly very relevant again. The characters have all aged 15 years. The project is sooooo good. Okay I’ve said too much :)

I'd really love to see KotH after 15 years.  Even if it's just a short series.

15 mins into Lupin and I really can't help but lament that the French don't speak English.

As a Canadian, shouldn't you just be lamenting that you didn't study mandatory French more rigorously?

I'm from Saskatchewan.  We only had to do like 1 hour of French a week for 5 years.  Basically, all I remember is that 'apple' means tree-potato.

This dub makes me feel like I'm watching an 80's Jackie Chan movie and it makes me feel good and nostalgic.

In anime, I'm always about subtitles, but Lupin has me on-board for dubbed.

Falcon and Winter Soldier is off to a good start.  I wasn't super hyped for it but it seems a lot more personal than I thought it would be and explores how the snap messed up the world.  Also, buddy cop movies are my favs and it looks like it will be one eventually.

If they spend 25 minutes per show on Sam and spend the rest of the show humiliating Bucky... week after week I'd be satisfied.

So far so good.

Started Age of Samurai: Battle for Japan on Netflix. One episode in and it's pretty cool so far. I don't usually go for docos where they do re-enactments, but samurai are cool, so I can deal with it.

ZeroZeroZero finally got put up on Prime in the states. If you like over the top drug crime dramas this should be on your watchlist. The soundtrack from Mogwai is killer and the cinematography is top notch.

I'm rewatching Doctor Who because I really miss Doctor Who, and I'm kind of surprised how much lifting from the Tom Baker years Moffat was doing during his run.
Also, chibnall, please watch some fucking old Doctor Who.

As someone only familiar with Davies and Moffat era Who, I'd love some expounding on this.

I couldn't go back further than Pertwee, because as a modern TV viewer I can only handle so much jank - and damn, there's a lot of jank, like in one episode the Doctor just falls over and I was like 'what?' before I realised he was supposed to be demonstrating being inside a rocket taking off  :lol - but Pertwee is almost... James Bond? Its a very monster of the week actiony kind of thing, and mostly all set on contemporary earth. The three doctors team up is still pretty cool.

Baker starts straight away as just zooming off to explore all of time and space, and really has an eccentric take on things; like someone grabs him by the neck from behind and his response is "Well, hullo there!" as well as that idiot savant demeanour, like figuring out hes on a space station by playing with his yoyo, and the stories start getting more spoopy than actiony, to the shows benefit.
The lifting stuff is that its pretty much Sontarans, Daleks, Cybermen, Zygons back to back, and I really think Matt Smith was channelling some of those Tom Baker eccentricities

Boardwalk Empire. The show where all the Soprano's rejects went to die. The 1st season is ok but after that every episode ends in oh gawd who cares.

My favorite era too. I like Eccleston ptsd doctor and wish we got more though but I really loved the first 3 or so series of Moffat era.  Apparently newer era Who fans hate Moffat and think he’s a sexist hack which is hilarious because that’s kinda how I felt about a lot of the Davies era Who. Just really schlocky stuff.

I remember even watching all of Torchwood. That was rough stuff too.

Some of the first series of New Who is overly shlocky because one of the producers kept trying to dumb it down as a kids show, so you get scenes like Mickey fighting a dustbin which might as well have cartoon birds flying in a circle round his head, but it really can't be stated enough how RTD genuinely brought Who back into prominence, and made it a smooth entrypoint for new viewers as well as hitting the touchpoints for older fans.

I didn't hate Moffat like some people did, but he stayed on too long, and frankly ruined a chunk of Capaldis run by making it all about Clara and having the Doctor play second fiddle in his own named show.
But Chibnalls Doctor Who straight up fucking sucks  :(

e: I got a free trial to Britbox which is where I'm watching the Classic Who, if you have some tolerance for Jank - like, you'll see a character pull an obvious toy gun, there'll be a red light, then someone will fall over because they were 'shot'  :lol - start at like... Series 11 or 12 like I have and its some solid SciFi adventuring

e2: FWIW, AFAICS classic who is literally the only thing on Britbox worth a shit, so I dunno who they think they're gonna get subscribing to it  :lol

I'm salty i stopped watching halfway through the last season, so close to finish, but then again, the cinematography was the only pull by that point.
