Gold Rush isn't a bad little way to make some money.  You do these 30-second bouts where the goal is to hit your opponent with the biggest combos and move variations.  Trying to spam one move or jab repeatedly won't get you much at all.  Both characters have infinite life; the challenge here is to keep on the offensive and keep your attack strings going for maximum gold.  Getting hit will cause you to lose money.

Lyte, did you play TDR for the PSP?

If so, can you remind how different is TDR's gold rush to T6's? I can't remember. Also, forget the console customization, how comparable are TDR's and T6?

I did, but I barely ever did gold rush; can't remember either.  I went and put 5DR back on my CFW 2000 recently, but used a hack to get maximum gold so I could just customize right from the start.

For customization in general, TK6 SPANKS TK5 DR.  Tekken 5's customization was pretty bare bones.  Tekken 6 gives you more clothing types and accessories, plus a crazy amount of hair options.

I think it's available everywhere-- thought today was the ship date, but nope, when I checked Gamestop.com, it said the one right near me had it in stock!  They only had a few copies behind the counter and the website says it's already backordered.  I wonder if Bamco didn't make that many copies?

this is a really good port, lo-fi and poorly-compressed portraits aside. between this and some badly-compressed assets in soul calibur, i am thinking namco is really trying to get file sizes down for psn, at the expense of the product. boo to that. yay to the disgustingly awesome graphics, short load times (post-install), and an ACTUAL ARCADE STORY MODE.

It doesn't work on CFW yet.  But it will be patched in to work soon enough.   :)  I can't wait to play it on the 2000.  If I get some extra cash, I may go pick up a 3000 and dump my 1000.

Yeah, although the story mode is the same as the console version -you still just do a few fights and then fight Azazel- except that you don't have to unlock anyone first in scenario mode.  I think they should have just added the prologues and endings into the game's arcade mode, but it really doesn't matter.  I'm going to be playing the challenge modes and ghost battle anyway.

Completely in agreement on the PSN size thing, although it doesn't make sense...Little Big Planet is 1.3GB on PSN.

BTW, there's one guy on Tekken Zaibatsu saying he and a friend got access to the patch early.  Kind of hard to go with just one person's impressions, but he played his friend 500 miles away, and said it was definitely better, like on par with SF4.  I don't believe this, but would assume it's going to end up as good as or better than Soul Calibur IV.  Still, anything will be an improvement!   :lol

Tested and working!  My savedata even works.  Only issue is that it's a cso, so the load times are like playing off the umd.  So you'll want to install the data in game.  Once it's all fully patched imma rip my own copy anyway, or get any iso veesions that pop up.  Only took 'em two days to get around Sony's latest protection scheme.  :lol

It's much better now that I can play on a better screen, and more importantly, with a befter d-pad.  I was having some issues hitting diagonals on the 1000 d-pad.

The online is much better but damn I cannot win in this game.  I perfect a guy 2 rounds in a row and it seems he sucks and then he perfects me 3 in a row and I'm like wtfff

And it keeps pitting me against people with 200 wins and 4th dan and stuff when I'm 9th kyu what the hell.

Okay.  THIS is how you do an online update patch.  Net play now feels like it's at SF4 quality or perhaps even BETTER with 4 and 5 bar connections.  Amazing.

SNK, take note.  :P

Here's some shitty pics I took of the PSP version (from off my TV).  It's such an impressive port, considering that the original arcade version is running on PS3-level hardware.

Compared to Soul Calibur Broken Destiny.  SCBD has a cleaner, crisper image.  I still think Tekken 6 is more impressive, mainly because of background details/animation.

Either way, :bow Namco :bow2 They own the PSP.

It's amazing how Namco went from shipping a complete failure (in regards to online) to making it one of the best. Didn't BlazBlue also have pretty poor online before a day-one patch? Maybe I'm just remembering wrong.

BB is still the best though.

It shows how a patch really can turn everything around and make online play great.  Makes SNK look even shittier.

Yes, BB's online play is still the best.  Too bad the game is in dire need of balancing.  BB's online wasn't poor pre-patch, but it was below SF4.  The patch shot it up into a class all on its own.

What sucks is that a lot of people may have dropped Tekken or not given it a chance because of how the online was, without knowing that it's been fixed now.

That's a shame; ignoring the "who cares?" scenario campaign, there's really nothing to complain about post-patch.  They should have delayed it and shipped it "fixed."

It doesn't say anything about offline co-op.

Quote
TEKKEN® 6 ONLINE CO-OP UPDATE CONFIRMED FOR JANUARY

SANTA CLARA, Calif., (Jan. 12, 2010) – NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc., today announced that players can expect to download the free TEKKEN® 6 online co-op update on January 18 for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. Now for the first time in the TEKKEN series, players can join a friend online and fight side-by-side for some serious iron fist brawling.

Previously playable only as an offline single player mode with an AI companion, TEKKEN 6’s Scenario Campaign mode now let’s two players come together online and power their way through numerous stages.  Use voice chat to work together strategically and beat down vicious opponents and their legions of minions. To keep the fires of competition in the forefront, a co-op leaderboard will be implemented so players can size up their skills against the best in the world.

This update will also include the following refinement:
·    Improved Mokujin AI – In online versus mode, Mokujin’s fighting style changes with every round

TEKKEN 6 is rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB and is now available nationwide for the PlayStation 3 system and Xbox 360 with an MSRP of $59.99 as well as the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system for $39.99. For more information on TEKKEN 6, please visit: www.namcobandaigames.com or www.tekken.com.

He was found by a passerby in the Nakano-ku region, and investigators are treating this incident as a suicide. Apparently around three in the afternoon yesterday, he collapsed on the street in Nakano-region, with a knife and a written will/letter found nearby.

For those who don’t know who Gouri Daisuke is, he is a popular voice actor for Kinnikuman’s Robin Mask, and was also a voice actor for Edgemaster in Soulcalibur 1, Mishima Heihachi in the Tekken games, Raiden in King of Fighters 12, Bass in Dead or Alive, and did a number of voices for the Dragonball series.

Let's pour one out for Heihachi and play some co-op in his honor tonight. WHO IS WITH ME
