You know, looking at the response to Hitman's early access ep1 release makes me a believer in early access games. The reason is, the game apparently has a lot of shit wrong with it and kind of sucks in many ways. But because it's in early access, the developers can actually address some of this stuff and maybe by the end of the season when the game is at 1.0 it'll be a great Hitman game. Whereas if it was using the old model, it would have released with glaring flaws and get a "we'll fix these in the sequel" wave off.
I mean a pessimist can say they're not gonna change much over the next year so it doesn't matter, but I get the feeling the IO team actually likes Hitman as a series and wants to make a great game, so they'll take a lot of the criticisms to heart and we'll get a better game out if it after a bunch of updates.
And then when they do and the game is 50% off on-sale I'll get to play a good game!
