Rather Blooper fuck up the remake than make a new shitty SH.
Can still just play the original SH2. It holds up.
Most newcomers will go to the remake that will be in the storefronts from now on, not to a cumbersome PC fanmod that about one hundred nerds worldwide know about. I rather Pachinko or a new shitty sequel than a bad version of 2 becoming canonical.
I know the source code is gone or whatever. But they should've just made something like the PC fanmod into an official release. All the original needed is analogue controls and shiny pickup-items.
This is true, yet at the same time I don't really care what newcomers to Silent Hill get as an impression of Silent Hill in the 2020s? Oh no, some 15 year old kid now thinks SH2 is a bad game in 2025.
imo, no one cares about SH in 2020s outside Silent Hill existing fans, and if someone new actually was interested enough in the series to check out SH2, they're probably savvy enough to play the xbox or PS2 or PC version. Like it sucks SH fans won't get a high quality remake experience to replay their favorite game, but given the current state of Konami for the last decade, that was never gonna happen and everyone should have made their peace with that.
The new original game is a lot more important since that's the one existing fans and new players will both be playing. While I don't expect it to be good like the Team Silent games, the so-so Silent Hill games like Downpour and Origins and Shattered Memories are still interesting enough to be worth a play, so hopefully it'll be at that level. But if Blooper had been doing the original one...yeah, I would not expect it to even reach Downpour's level.
I still find it weird that Konami is actually making games again after all these years off the market. Very strange and not sure what to expect quality-wise from any of it.
