This is apparently cross gen.    Guess that shouldn't be a shocker.

With PS5 at 550 Euro and no supply we'll see cross gen games for a few more years.

This is actually shaping up to be the first generation that is almost entirely cross-gen.

It's been two years since release in November. Almost every game coming out next year is going to be cross-gen. When does this generation actually begin? Three years in? LOL.

Unprecedented and fucking lame is what it is. Never a better time to get a PC over these mostly-cross-gen duds.

Not to mention the shitty mid-gen upgrades consoles try and pull now, makes it even worse.

Four official servers deployed.
One official server per region.
Regions supported include:

All official servers run the “Campaign” game mode by default.

Sadly, "Why does this console generation exist?" is still a legitimate question.

I'd expect this gen to go about 8-10 years with mid-gen refreshes around year 5-6.

I think we'll get rid of cross-gen games in 2024. Chip shortage is reducing, stock is improving, no reason to cross-gen unless you're going for a Switch version.

I guess Midnight Suns got moved forward after getting moved back? IIRC it went like Spring 2022 -> Halloween 2022 -> Q1 2023 -> December 5th, 2022.

Still looks cool. Never played an X-Com game since X-Com II (the old series) because the setting/aesthetic doesn't jive with me even if the gameplay mechanics look good. More interested in this since I like the setting/cast and enjoy deckbuilders.

It's good they're finally getting back to MP. It's kind of ridiculous that with the budgets for these games and that AC MP was actually unique and good that they ditched it for so many years. Not sure if it's strong enough for a standalone, but it could be fun. I don't like MP games but I liked AC MP's cat and mouse stuff.

Mirage could be cool and a return to form, or it could suck. Nice to get back to bigger cities and playing as actual Assassins, but quality of AC games are mixed and this is a smaller effort one so who knows.

who the fuck is still playing Valhalla for content, I thought everyone zzz'd out after about 80 hours at most of the base game without coming close to finishing it.

I must have been about 75 hours in when I finished out the Sigurd storyline and decided I'd had my fill, but still had plenty to do in the assassins storyline and had barely touched the Odin shit past the first one or two

This was barely touching the side content too. I liked the game but talk about something overstaying it's welcome.

Starting with Mirage, AC games will no longer have any modern day storyline component. They will just be 100% a historical romp.

Apparently the modern day storyline will get "its own thing" which I assume means a zero budget visual novel or something since Ubisoft seems to fucking hate the modern day stuff in AC from AC3 on.

They dropped that framing of the modern day story like 30 games ago.

At some point they were like "oh yeah, we've got hundreds of people hooked up to these machines to extract their DNAs memory from" and they started minimizing the modern day stuff out of the games as much as possible. It's some "technically ALL THESE PEOPLE ARE RELATED" thing or whatever but Desmond is long dead or something I honestly forget. It was about some woman scientist or something for a while instead I really don't care.

Japan would have happened by now but I think they were pretty adamant about refusing to do it because people wanted it, same reason they refused to go back to the Middle East.

what do they really have besides the division (bleh), whatever rainbow 6 thing they have (popular but personally don't care) and AC? The last Watch Dogs probably tanked that franchise, and it never lived up to what they hoped it would be anyway. The last Ghost Recon was supposed to be booty too, the cocaine one before it was shockingly popular (even tho it was kinda shit) so who knows where that goes?

They need some new IP pretty sharpish.

Rumor was they were close to a deal with Netflix but that didn't go ahead.
Netflix probably realized that licensing Assassins Creed was cheaper and the other franchises weren't as easy to mold into hit TV series.

Not sure who would be interested in buying Ubisoft. Their games are selling well but they aren't exactly system sellers.

Word on the street is Microsoft is buying Asobo next but they have to wait until the Activision deal closes which is taking longer than expected.

Surprised Kenzan would be an issue. The RGG team had no issues with 3/4/5 remastered ports and those were all PS3 games.
Kenza/Isshin double pack was always the dream and made the most sense. Too bad.

Kenzan is the better story game, but Isshin is good.

Also why does the open-world flying scene in that Rise of Ronin gameplay look graphically miles ahead of the rest of the game that's grounded combat? Like that one bit looks AC-quality big city to explore. The rest looks like Nioh.

Seems like the Sony show was pretty dull compared to Nintendo's. Tekken 8, Rise of Ronin (2024), Isshin remaster, finally a big GoW2 trailer (not bothering to watch it this close to the release date at this point) and that's about it?

With it dated for 2024, think they’re selective of what’s ready to show. Described it as an open world action rpg? Seems it’ll be them doing an AC game with team ninja sensibilities.

Also, saying Ishin was rebuilt and enhanced etc. What’s that mean? Like 0, it released on PS3 and PS4, with PS4 being 1080p 60fps. So is it just 4K on PS5 now or is it a heftier remake? Don’t think it makes sense to rebuild it in the dragon engine.
