I don't need 150-200 hour giant empty bloat world for Japan. I feel like if you're gonna do big empty nature landscape that the AC China game would've been a better and more interesting fit for this team.

It's good they're finally getting back to MP. It's kind of ridiculous that with the budgets for these games and that AC MP was actually unique and good that they ditched it for so many years. Not sure if it's strong enough for a standalone, but it could be fun. I don't like MP games but I liked AC MP's cat and mouse stuff.

Mirage could be cool and a return to form, or it could suck. Nice to get back to bigger cities and playing as actual Assassins, but quality of AC games are mixed and this is a smaller effort one so who knows.

who the fuck is still playing Valhalla for content, I thought everyone zzz'd out after about 80 hours at most of the base game without coming close to finishing it.

I must have been about 75 hours in when I finished out the Sigurd storyline and decided I'd had my fill, but still had plenty to do in the assassins storyline and had barely touched the Odin shit past the first one or two

This was barely touching the side content too. I liked the game but talk about something overstaying it's welcome.

Starting with Mirage, AC games will no longer have any modern day storyline component. They will just be 100% a historical romp.

Apparently the modern day storyline will get "its own thing" which I assume means a zero budget visual novel or something since Ubisoft seems to fucking hate the modern day stuff in AC from AC3 on.

They dropped that framing of the modern day story like 30 games ago.

At some point they were like "oh yeah, we've got hundreds of people hooked up to these machines to extract their DNAs memory from" and they started minimizing the modern day stuff out of the games as much as possible. It's some "technically ALL THESE PEOPLE ARE RELATED" thing or whatever but Desmond is long dead or something I honestly forget. It was about some woman scientist or something for a while instead I really don't care.

Japan would have happened by now but I think they were pretty adamant about refusing to do it because people wanted it, same reason they refused to go back to the Middle East.

what do they really have besides the division (bleh), whatever rainbow 6 thing they have (popular but personally don't care) and AC? The last Watch Dogs probably tanked that franchise, and it never lived up to what they hoped it would be anyway. The last Ghost Recon was supposed to be booty too, the cocaine one before it was shockingly popular (even tho it was kinda shit) so who knows where that goes?

They need some new IP pretty sharpish.

Rumor was they were close to a deal with Netflix but that didn't go ahead.
Netflix probably realized that licensing Assassins Creed was cheaper and the other franchises weren't as easy to mold into hit TV series.

Not sure who would be interested in buying Ubisoft. Their games are selling well but they aren't exactly system sellers.

Word on the street is Microsoft is buying Asobo next but they have to wait until the Activision deal closes which is taking longer than expected.

I got excited about Front Mission 3 remake and then I saw the developer behind the FM1+2 remake coming in 2 months (with very little footage) and this did the Panzer Dragoon and House of the Dead ones, so yeah this is gonna be shitty budget stuff. :|  For FM3, probably emulating the PS1 version on a good emulator will end up better than whatever we get.

Surprised Kenzan would be an issue. The RGG team had no issues with 3/4/5 remastered ports and those were all PS3 games.
Kenza/Isshin double pack was always the dream and made the most sense. Too bad.

Kenzan is the better story game, but Isshin is good.

I played the game like 15 years ago so don't remember any of this, but I'll take era's word for it. May be the main reason Kenzan isn't coming over.

Makes sense if it’s the main story. I know Yakuza 3 had dated elements edited out. Yakuza 4 replaced an actor’s likeness for drug possession. It’s Japan, so probably just weed.

Didn’t think Ishin would ever happen. Not taking that for granted. In a perfect world both plus the PSP Kurohyou games would be in one big package. Wouldn’t say no to a Dead Souls remaster either.
