Another shitty Sonic game. I can tell that from the trailer.

Why do all modern Sonic games have to be semi-racing games? I don't remember the original Sonic games being so hectic and messy.

Sonic Colors does look pretty good. It looks like Unleashed minus the God of War clone night missions. But since there's no 360 version I won't be buying it.

so this guy called spoony made a review of a game called deadliest warrior (i think it's based on a show?) which looks like one of those crappy mortal kombat clone that were all the rage 15 years ago,and he called it like the crappiest game ever

so where's the funny? spike games, the developer responded to him

Thanks folks, we know the game is not perfect and are working to fix things in the TU. These kinds of reviews from people that don’t really give the game more than a glancing look are discouraging but the feedback on these forums helps us as developers see what real gamers think about the game. It was discouraging that nowhere in the review was mentioned the price point, the dodging, stamina or parry systems but oh well… you can’t please everybody.

The fact that DW is even in the same sentence as Tekken, SF, MK is good enough for us. Even if they are only comparing them to tear the game apart. If we had 20 million dollars and two years to build a game I wonder what that would be like? Oh we can dream… When you pay for milk and expect honey you’re going to end up with milk and be pissed about it. It’s not our fault that you are delusional.

I’d love it if someone on this board made a comment on spoony that shed some light on what this game is all about.

But thanks again for your support!

    cheers,

I'll be stunned if that's actually the official stance, or anything from their PR dept. or even the dev team. It's likely a QA guy or some ass. prod. who felt like white knighting for the team after they spent several months in crunch.

I feel like writing those things every other day, as does everyone on any team I've been on where the game isn't reviewed as well as we'd hoped. But we're not hired to talk for the company, and the people that are hired to do so are smarter than that.

Sonic Unleashed was fun in the speed stages.  Colors looks like a game made up of those levels, plus Mario-ish power ups.  I'm somewhat interested in it unless there is a huge cock up.

Only thing that stands out as bad (outside of being part of the Sonic series) is the music so far.  Even modern sonic games have decent music, though I haven't touched that black knight game on wii and barely got into the first wii game.   That first wii game (secret rings) had awful music.

I don't understand why people think 3d Sonic speed stages are fun. They are so brain dead and devoid any good platforming. They are boring as fuck.

Huh? No Sonic has resembled the Genesis Sonic's in terms of physics and platforming since Sonic and fucking Knuckles. The 3d games don't resemble Genesis Sonic at all ???

It doesn't even have to be something like the Genesis Sonic's. Mario Sunshine and Mario Galaxy are plenty different from Yoshi's Island or Mario World and they're still great games. It can be different and still be good. The point is that these games aren't good at all; they're trash.

It's fun.  It isn't like the genesis games but that isn't the only way it can be fun.  It reminds me of games like Pepsi Man and 3D World Runner.

How many 3d sonic games have there been? I only played a good amount of Adventure 1, Adventure 2, and Unleashed.  I didn't really like the first Sonic Adventure and the second was alright at the time.  I think 2006 is what made so many people bitter, but I didn't play it.  The first wii game seemed pretty bad too.

Also of the GBA/DS games, I only played the second on GBA and it was fun; haven't played the others.

The reason those speed games are tolerable is because the rest of the 3-D sonic stuff is so god damn awful by comparison. It simply was never able to transition from 2-D to 3-D which is pretty much why it should stay in 2-D land.

I'm not saying it's not fun because it's not like the Genesis games. I just don't think it's fun in the least. I expect platforming in a Sonic game, not mindlessly switching rails and bopping on enemies.

I still say that Jet Set Radio Future had THE formula for a 3d Sonic. Sega had (and still has) the talent to make a great 3d Sonic game, but they don't use them!

- Replace JSRF characters with Sonic characters
- Make the environments whacky environments with great artstyle ala the Genesis games, none of this realistic bullshit
- Game already has physics implemented into its platforming, which is bread and butter of Sonic gameplay.
- Replace tags with special rings.
- Change fights so that they aren't enclosed areas, give the player multiple ways to kill an enemy like Mario does in 3d.

You got yourself a great 3d Sonic game right there.

I never liked Sonic Adventure.

Sonic Advanced is in the same pile: mindless running through levels without any sense of platforming. That said, Advanced 1 is pretty good if you play as Amy Rose, because she has no spin dash.

I dunno. I think they'll get plenty pissed off when Gamespot reviews My Pretty Pony Glamour House Rulez! as though it were marketed to the hardcore game.
