so now that the PSP Go is hacked and Tactics Ogre is coming out soon,

my question is, should i get a PSP-3000 or a PSP Go? Right now there are some good deals on CL for the latter. everything looks great about the Go except the awkward analog placement. how much of a problem is that?

PSP Go has a slightly better screen, but it's small. Smaller screen, less handspace for controls. I tried it once and it was just too small for me. I like my 3000.

I'm not sure if anything can save Metroid at this point. The low initial sales of Other M imply that there was a lack of interest upon release, not just because the game was terribad. Now maybe, if they figured out a way to preserve the core metroid tenets without discouraging newcomers with the obtuseness the series usually carries, they could make it work. Prime 1 sold as well as it did due to a curiousity among new players but you can see that subsequent versions never hit the same mark in sales. I see these as folks who probably got frustrated and therefore ditched the franchise. I also think they should seriously consider some form of multiplayer at this point. Nintendo's co-op/multiplayer games are among the most lucrative for them, and it could draw in folks who normally wouldn't pay much mind to a labyrinth shooter adventure thing. I think it would have been smart for Retro to give their engine to NST and have them develop a companion multiplayer experience for Corruption. Hunters multiplayer had many interesting ideas even if it wasn't the best realised experience.

Does Nintendo invest heavily in any game they produce?

After playing stuff like Another Code R, Xenoblade and Last Story I can't help but feel Nintendo's budgets for big name titles are about half of what even PS2 game budgets were. Nintendo strikes me as an extremely conservative publisher. Even stuff like the Fire Emblem GC/Wii games aren't exactly high budget affairs. Mario & Zelda seem like the only games that get real $$$. And probably Smash Bros too.

All things being hypothetical, I think the Metroid Fusion/Zero Mission team could pull off something super close to Super Metroid if Sakomoto stayed far far away from the project. Got pretty far in Last Story on my day off yesterday and this evening. If I wasn't playing in 2 hour timeslots during the week, I'd probably finish it tomorrow. But as is will probably have it done by the end of the week.

Looks like the game is about 20 hours for the main story with about 5-10 hours of optional stuff. I'm ~13 hours now and 80-90% done. Game is short because the story is short/small-scope and the world is tiny (1 town/island), but also because it's paced like an action game ala, ME2/Gears where you run run run and fight while you're doing it and watch cutscenes. It feels like you're playing a Michael Bay movie (and the story is just as dumb).

Definitely doesn't seem like the rpg-savior ff-killer that nfans want it to be. But it seems like a solid experimental rpg. Like RoF but a step below. But Wii still has Xenoblade so nfans can hold that up high (assuming it ever comes out in English).

I really hope Sakaguchi doesn't retire though. The genre is starved enough, and anyone trying to innovate is needed in the industry right now. Plus you can't discount that Sakaguchi charm

One of the things I like about the current smaller titles DoubleFine is working on is that, well, THEY DON'T TAKE FIVE YEARS TO COME OUT. Last gen we got the very darling but late and somewhat lost-dutchman-like Psychonauts. This generation, it felt like we were only going to see Brütal Legend, and maybe get a sequel on the Xbox 720 or PS4. Instead, we're getting a couple friendly titles to tide us over while they work on something else... and maybe it won't take 5 years to come out.

I would have liked more Brütal DLC than there is, but that's also got to be hard to rationalize. Just the cost to get it through QA is not going to be covered by the potential number of buyers... $:-\$

I doubt Dark Souls will end up anything like a Bethesda game. King's Field was open world and it was fucking awesome. Opening Demon's Souls up is a return to form, really.

I got my disc drive to work again ...by removing my hard drive and loading a disc that way after which it loads fine even with the hd attached again. My main wish for the next gen of home consoles is that they actually fucking work.

Gaf is going back into fanboy hivemind again. Between the Nintendo fans going crazy in 3DS threads and becoming incredibly desperate in their attempt to make every remaining Wii game the "BEST GAME EVER" & Sony fans going nuts in denial at the Sony BS machine behind the PSP2 "demos" and Sony 2011 lineup...I feel like Xbox fans are the only sane ones left at the moment. Then again I don't read Kinect threads so maybe they are insane over there as well.

Like in the Resistance 3 thread, a few of us try to give some constructive criticism about the hud and the response is a flood of fanboys who strike down any criticism with personal attacks and claims that the footage is PERFECT and there cannot be a single flaw. Same bunch of people saying the same thing in The Last Story thread. It's becoming gamefaqs over there all over again. New gen shifts always bring out the worst in gaming forums that aren't EB. In the middle of the generation, the winners/losers are decided and everyone stops caring about totting the company line. Even Wollan had been tolerable over the previous year or so.

I kinda like that, to be honest. It's better than everyone pretending to be neutral and incredibly transparent in doing so. Ideally the people wouldn't be so dumb, but I admire the honest, as crass as it might be.

anyway, does anyone know a site that lets you download high quality trailers and stuff? gamersyde doesn't seem to have direct downloads anymore. Gametrailers is pretty bad quality and the other major sights make you pay.
