MH is a game that's super fun with friends.  I mean you're running around hunting GIANT DINOSAURS and then skinning them and wearing their bones for armor.

However 1p is a boring grindfest with bad controls.  Thus I don't play it because I have no gaming friends on the systems it is on.  If they had actually brought it to X360/PS3, maybe things would have been different.  But the Western MH for PS3/X360 is apparently 1p only, lol.

Vince McMahon is going to buy THQ and rename it WWE Games.

THQ rules. They've put out a ton of games this gen that I absolutely love. Last gen they were just straight garbage. Hope they can find a buyer who wont fuck with them too much.

That's not a horrible idea. But THQ wouldn't last a whole long time after that anyway. Then it would be brought back, a decade after its prime, and forced to hobble through Hell in a Cell matches.

That would be an even better trick. I looked up their wikipedia entry a bit ago. They have been working on Japan-specific titles, and the retail market here is deader-than-dead.

What.  This makes no sense.  If you registered it with steam and it's on your steam list you shouldn't need the disc.  You should now own the game on steam, right?

Anyhow, buy games on steam, have it download them when you are doing something else.  Double click on it and wait 2-3 mins for install and then you are playing.

Goodwill had a bunch of NES games when I went to look for holiday ugly sweaters.

Got Dragon Warrior, Rad Racer, Base Wars, 1942, BreakThru, and Marble Madness :rock :rock

LOVED base wars.  another sports game i played just for fights, though if i recall correctly the actual baseball aspect was fun.  Kinda like baseball simulator 1000 but with robots.

Ultra games :bow2

The game is $40 on Steam. I got the retail DVD release for $10 on Amazon.

So apparently part of the game installed from the disc while the rest downloaded from Steam. It was trying to install 12 GB from the disc and 5 GB from Steam. Once the Steam download was done the install picked up and was super fast. Really weird. I don't need to the disc to play now, though.

There are many ways to do things in PC gaming.

But real talk: over your next 5+ years of PC games, just having an X360 wired controller you can plug into USB and everything works perfect like a console is worth the $40 it will cost you.

you don't really need an 360 controller.  what makes it great are the xinput drivers, and the software emulates it for a PS3 controller.  it depends on how you feel about the 'feel' of using the controllers.  I use a 360 controller for PC games because it's a lot more comfortable (well a razer onza, but it's technically a 360 controller).

it can be a bother when games only support xinput.  like I wanted to play super meat boy with my wii snes controller, so I had to find a program to let me custom map direct input controls to xinput to trick it into thinking B on the classic controller = A on the xbox 360 controller.  but that's an exception.

The majority of my PC gaming will be mouse + keyboard, but Last Remnant is clearly designed for a controller, based on my time with it last night.

You'll find that most pc-only indie gaming is designed for a x360 controller.

X360 you just plug in.

What effort does it require? Motioninjoy saves settings. You click motioninjoy with your controller plugged in, set to x360 emulation, save, exit out, and you don't have to bother with it again unless you want to play with epsxe or something.

Ok.

I've never used it.  Went from using a PS2 controller through PS2->USB connector and software controller emulators, which were a huge pain the ass and didn't always work right -> X360 wired controller where if the game supported it, it was perfect.

motioninjoy has annoying quirks.  the best solution is to get a wireless adapter for a 360 controller, then sit back and enjoy true hd gaming with your pc hooked up to your tv.

Sonic CD is not worth money. ugly, bad levels, dumb gimmicks, etc. the race against metal sonic is cool and some of the music isn't bad, but it isn't worth the irrevocable shame of owning sonic products released after 1992.

I've really dug myself in a hole at the gamestop near me.  I occasionally preorder a game because the guys are nice there and I know it helps them.  One time, the guy reminded me I had an open preorder for something and I said I didn't want the game, but I'd move it to something else because he was cool and I know they have quotas and stuff.  He was really surprised by this, thankful, and all that.  His co-workers overheard this too, saw them noticing.  I don't really ham it up or get super friendly with anyone who works at the store, despite them clearly recognizing me every time I go in and me knowing them, which I feel is a little weird, but whatever, I just buy games there and know enough to be mindful about the preorder process because I've been shopping at gamestop/funcoland since I can remember.

so I went in yesterday to buy ME2 and a $20 PSN card.  This clerk was one of the ones who overheard me in that previous story.  He told me they might have a code for the game I was gonna get on PSN and I was like "Nah, you definitely don't have codes for the P.O.W:Prisoner of War Mini and besides, it's not out yet."  and he's like "all we have is a listing for the PC version, maybe they did a spiritual sequel or something."  and I was like "that's not it, I don't think SNK even makes PC games...this is an 80s double dragon clone and i'm probably the only person in the world looking forward to it."  I'm just trying to clarify, but it takes a nerd war tone when he apparently didn't appreciate being "shut down" or something and gets grumbly about it.

To pay for part of the transaction, I canceled a preorder for a game and he just went cold for the rest of the transaction, ending with "have fun" in complete dead pan.

I guess he thought I was doing that on purpose.  :lol  moral of the story: don't ever be nice

yeah, that's probably true.  one thing i do notice is that despite me being a regular who pretty much never preorders, they still badger the fuck out of me.  it's usually not a problem, but apparently I've made it a problem by making it look like i preorder based on how much i like the clerk.

new Binary Domain footage

also

Quote
SEGA’s futuristic squad based shooter Binary Domain has been handed a 15 certificate age rating from the British Board of Film Classification due to it’s depictions of “strong violence”.

The listing also reveals that game will feature 255 minutes of cut-scenes (that breaks down to 4 hours and 15 minutes). Earlier this week, the BBFC rating for Capcom’s Resident Evil themed squad shooter Operation Raccoon City unearthed that the game will feature just 19 minutes of cut-scenes by comparison to Binary Domain’s 255. Either Capcom don’t have much of a story to tell or they plan on telling it in-game while you’re actually playing.

Binary Domain and RE: Operation Raccoon City are scheduled for release in Q1 2012.
